Severus, Severus, Severus... You should never assume things when it comes to Hermione. 

And poor Hermione will probably be assuming things too - about why he Disapparated... 

Really like the fact that Severus already gets along so well with her parents. Somehow, I don't think Ronald succeeded so well in that respect. And that (thanks to his trip to the U.S.) he knows he has other (extremely good) options for after his sentance is up, rather being 'resigned' to his (unhappy) 'fate' in Wizarding Britian. This way, if he stays it'll be because he chooses to, and Hermione won't have to worry that he might have (eventually) chosen her because there was 'nothing better' available to him. 

Liked the mature way (most likely due to her influence) they chose to handle telling the news to the public/wedding guests, rather then having a huge row for all to see.  Also, loved that Severus was seemingly the only one to figure out the truth of her and Ron's unsuitablity before she did, and that he was the one she requested to see after the fact. Wish he had stuck around a bit longer, so he could realise that his hopes were not in vain...

Great story so far! Loving it. Really like how Severus seems to know more about her than Ron (personality-wise and taste-wise and what's most important to her, at the very least), and how Harry seems to have grown up (even becoming tentative friends with Severus).

Oh I love the hideous ring and the sweet kiss.  I think you placed the picnic in June and then had Hermione say her mom was to be in New York by the first of June.  My husband was clever, he asked me what i wanted by way of an engagement ring.  (I told him none, and described the stand-alone wedding ring I envisined, with pretty coloured stone(s) and wide band. no soliare for me.)  I congratulate you on designing the ugliest ring in the world.I am simply loving this story, so well crafted.  How clever of you!

I do so love that unexpected kiss.  It seems Hermione's heart has already figured it out, even if her brain hasn't.I like how poorly the picnic turned out.  Poor Hermione!  It makes Severus' news about the study for her mother that much sweeter, especially after Ron's criticism of the picnic.

Hermione and Ron don't seem to have the same values.  He is so clueless, all well I'm sure things will work out for Severus in the end.  Ron just doesn't belong with Hermione.

I really like your narrative and your imagery. I don't generally like first person writing, but in this case it works and is appropriate to the story setting. Thank you for having Severus speak to Lily. I really like how you wrote Lily and that you allowed Severus and Lily to exchange loving sentiments in a tender yet unsentimental way.  I also like that you have kept Severus snarky and that Albus isn't too maudlin and twinkly. I have favorited this story and you as an author and will explore your other writing as well. I am glad to have discovered you.  I hope this story goes on a good long time, although not in first person <VBG>. This is the best prologue I have read and it has me eagerly anticipating what you come up with next. I hate to say it but, hurry please? Cheers, Kat
