Reviews for Sage
Severus may be an absolute wretch at times, but when he's romantic, he does it very well.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
Yes, he does -- I am glad that comes through here. There's still more of Severus' Jekyll/Hyde routine as romantic/wretch ahead of us. :-) Thank you for reading!

So I read it again just for kicks. Hermione still annoyed the hell out of me and I still want to strangle Snape. So situation normal! I cannot help but wonder how this all turns out. At this point I would be quite content with them splitting up forever....
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
Oh, honey. *hugs* I hope I haven't put you too off the story. I do appreciate getting your take on things -- you're very observant and pick up on quite a bit that others miss.
Response from MollysSister (Reviewer)
Put me off the story? Not even close. I like present!Hermione who is taking the time to explain everything to her daughter. Its past!Hermione and past!Snape that I don't care for their behavior much. I expect it is "just a stage" they are both going through. Time has tempered Hermione, one can only wonder what it has done for Severus. I am looking forward to the next chapter as always.

Ahh so now you have admitted as much through Hermione to Rose that the relationship has begun to decline. This saddens me, but I know it must happen for them to come together again. Please, please tell me they will finally find happiness together again. Well done. Irish

That was really quite profound. I wonder what finally ruins it. I guess that is why I will keep reading, isn't it?

The tradition of naming children after relatives and close friends is a beautiful one. I love that you have been able to explain Rose's name in this manner.

Still reading and still enjoying!Very touching, Harry getting back in touch with her by way of Ginny's slip of the tongue.I've got a bad feeling about all of those trips away... It can't help her relationship with Severus.Looking forward to more, as always.

I'm glad you'll be able to up-date more often. I thought he would be angry with her about the book but you keep us guessing all the time. We will just be waiting with baited breath for updates.

Good to see you! Yes, I'll be updating more often. I just finished the first draft of chapter fifteen, actually! *happy dance* Thank you for continuing to read and review - I appreciate it more than you know. Best wishes, and check back soon for an update!

Will you think less of me if this review is not insightful and clever? I am tired and my eyes are sore. Getting caught up on all my reading has been more work than I had thought. So who was Rose Prince? Severus’ mother? I cant help but think Hermione should NOT be snooping around his house even if she disguises it as cleaning. Man their conversation once he got back was all over the place! She is upset, he is defensive, she is ranting, he is withdrawn... I am glad it ended with them cuddled together. What is the big mystery with Severus’s work? I keep waiting for the deal breaker to show up. The thing that breaks them apart. ((sniffles))
Happy summer vacation to you LR!
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
Hi, honey! I most assuredly do not think less of you. You sound very tired! *hugs you* Eileen Prince was Severus' mother; Rose is on the family tree, though. The boundaries and expectations for the Hr/S relationship are, I think, consistently in flux for them both- I am hard pressed to get a straight answer out of either one of them most of the time. I apologize if it being all over the place, ill worded is confusing; I don't mean it to be. Thank you for the well wishes, and I wish you a happy summer as well! :-)

Well Severus sure did jump up and get mad quick. She is going to the wedding. Does she go back and never return to Severus or does he go away and leave her on these trips - cannot wait to see what happens.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
There are still 2+ years left on the "past" timeline, so nothing is going to happen... right now. Thank you, as always, for reading & reviewing.

Interesting chapter - very tender between the two of them - I just cannot help wandering what happens to pull them apart.

The beginning of the end. Well, of that chapter of their lives, anyway. That was beautifully written.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
Several people have said "the beginning of the end," and I would caution against saying that too prematurely... there are definite problems surfacing, but there are a solid two years+ left in the "past" timeline. There's some space to work with yet. And thank you for the compliment - I am so pleased that you enjoyed the chapter. Thanks, as always, for reading and reviewing. :-)

I have considered reading this fic for a while, but I already had a number of WIP's I was reading, and I try to limit the number I have going at once. Since one of my WIP's ended, and none of the others have an update, I decided to start SAGE. This first chapter shows me that I will be in for a nice fresh take on the SS/HG universe. This is the first time I've read anything with the canon children of Hermione, Ron, Harry and Ginny all grown-up, except for a few short pieces in the SS/HG Exchange. I really like your Rose and your Hugo. The blue box and letter Rose found in Hermione's room are intriguing. I can't wait to learn the story behind them. The scene of Hermione on the hill was hauntingly lovely and deeply emotional. No wonder Rose has questions.

Hello, dear! I'm so glad to see you and am positively tickled that Sage has moved up on your WIP list! I take it you've decided to pace yourself - you have more patience than I when starting WIPs, I see. I am so pleased that you've enjoyed the characters thus far, and your compliments are making me smile from ear to ear. Thank you for taking the time to read and review. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on future chapters.

That happens to be one of my favorite Sonnets. Now what does that say about me? I am almost afraid to continue reading as I know to continue I will see the deterioration of Severus and Hermione's relationship. I hope in the end they end up back together. Irish

It says that you have good taste. It's one of my favorites, as well. I did think it spoke to Severus' character, though, if in a darker way than the rest of us. Don't be afraid! I'll hold your hand through it. :-) Also, take comfort in that there's still more than two years to go in the "past" timeline - there is both good and bad ahead. Thank you, as always, for reading and reviewing.

Please tell me Severus is not just interested in her for a fuck as he implied in this chapter. Although that was contradicted by his assertion that Hermione was ashamed of being with him, which implies he thinks they have a relationship. I am so confused. Is this one of those I care about you, but I will not let you get too deeply into my heart so I won't get hurt kind of things? Like a defense mechanism? I can understand Hermione missing her friends, but like your other reviewers I too wonder how she could ever wind up with Ron when she is clearly in love with and is passionate about Severus. It seemed her relationship with Ron did not contain those factors from what I have read so far.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
Hello, m'dear. Thank you for reading, as always. I hesitate to give readers too much detail as to interpretation, but I would like to assuage your concern. Severus is not just interested in Hermione for sex - his comment was meant tongue-in-cheek, and I felt that his reaction to her statements about Britain, his concern for her diet, and then giving her the keys to the cottage spoke as to his deep care for her. I am comfortable saying that he very much cares for her, but he is an intensely private person, and there's a very strong but indistinct boundary between his private self and what he shares with others. As to Hermione and Ron - that is my upcoming challenge, to show how she ended up with Ron. I appreciate your attention to detail - having readers genuinely care about the story is so edifying for a writer. Thank you.

hooray for more frequent updates! this one was lovely. it had drama, pathos, humor, and magical books! what more could a girl want? i hope hermione doesn't get into trouble when severus finds out she snooped a bit and found the book. (i'm looking for clues as to why their relationship falls apart. you know, other than the great, big, obvious clues beating us over the head.) harry's note made me sniffle a little, too. and - why can't severus be reasonable? because he's SEVERUS! to sum up - loved it, as always. : D
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
Hello, m'dear! Thank you so much for continuing to read and review - it warms my heart, let me tell you. (And thank you for being very positive about the updates.) I will assure you that Hermione doesn't get in trouble for finding the book. :-) As for what pushes them apart - well, it's a human relationship and Hypnobarb once commented that Severus' baggage won't even fit in the room, or something like that, so it's a very complex, difficult relationship. As you said - he's Severus. :-) Your enthusiasm puts a smile on my face - thank you.

*sighs* The little argument just seemed to bring up issues that I fear will never be resolved. Or at least not resolved for years and years.

Your story is very interesting. This chapter seems like it may be the beginning of the end of their relationship at that time. I'm curious to read more and find out what happened, since we know she ended up married to Ron. Please update again soon.
Response from lady_rhian (Author of Sage)
In a way it is the "beginning of the end," certainly, as it raises some major issues, but at the same time there are over two years left in the "past" timeline of their relationship, so there is quite a bit more to come. Rest assured, I am working on chapter fifteen! (I've given myself daily word quotas and everything.) Hermione and Severus are misbehaving right now, but hopefully they'll iron themselves out tonight so I can finish the chapter this weekend. Thank you for continuing to read the story and for leaving a review- I appreciate it more than you know.

I know that Severus and Hermione came to an end at some point, because she did marry Ron, but i'm so dreading reading how! I really like this story; it's so touching and hypnotic. I am definitely looking forward to more.

i'm still enjoying this story. having come back from vacation a couple of days ago, i wish i could just magically send all my clothes and things to where they belong! i hate unpacking. back to your story - it's nice to see them being sort of normal together, but i'm getting a little worried and restless with wondering what happens to tear them apart. not in a bad way, though! good luck with school, and i will look forward to more once you have finished that. : )
