If Severus survives the war (assuming that the good guys will win), in the immediate aftermath his life will be hell. Oh, he may be pardoned eventually, or even exonerated. He might manage to hide out until the charges are dropped. But there are going to be rough times. Nothing he can't handle; his life has always been pretty miserable. But. What if there aren't? How would Severus Snape respond to a world in which things go his way?

Thank you so much! I thought it was important to establish that Hermione was as pleased with their encounter as Severus was and that "courting" not be a restrained activity ;D

I often return to this story when I'm thinking about how dismal everything usually turns out... but what if everything went RIGHT? It's the driving force behind Hooligans and a story I post under my alter ego. I have it listed as a favorite but never reviewed, which I thought I would remedy today. So, sorry for the delay, but I do enjoy coming back to this one.

this was such a wonderful story. your snape was absolutely perfect as he continued to believe that anything that happened that seemed good was clearly too good to be true. so many lines had me rolling with laughter, and yet it was also very emotionally satisfying. this is how i wish dh had ended. need i say more?

I've never bought the idea that Hermione could really fall in love with the idea of Severus just because she knows what he's sacrificed. Intrigued and attracted enough to want to explore the possibility, but not in love. I'm so pleased that you liked that approach.

Quite a nice story! I enjoyed the twist on Severus' waking up experience, normally he's always portrayed as a wounded soul unable to realize he's alive and whatnot- here he is quite positive and I think the fact that he thinks he's imagining things is extremely endearing. Good story! :)
