If Severus survives the war (assuming that the good guys will win), in the immediate aftermath his life will be hell. Oh, he may be pardoned eventually, or even exonerated. He might manage to hide out until the charges are dropped. But there are going to be rough times. Nothing he can't handle; his life has always been pretty miserable. But. What if there aren't? How would Severus Snape respond to a world in which things go his way?

Reviews for A Good Day
What a lovely take on what SHOULD have happened, from the idea that no one should be taken off the coffee list until all are COMPLETELY convinced that he is a traitor to the fact that Hermione was the one to figure things out, time her revelation to the rest of the Order, and plot both his rescue and his protection from those nattering nimrods at the Ministry.
And I loved the progression in Snape's thinking from a gender-specific hex to oh-jeez-this-must-be-real-after-all, now-what-do-I-do? I can believe he would have remained suspicious and skeptical and then convinced he was just hallucinating for as long as he did.
And I would like to believe that the Order as a whole would have, in the end and faced with irrefutable proof of his true loyalties, finally recognized his amazing sacrifices, courage, and heroism and finally, after everything, actually done enough to acknowledge it.
And I love that Ron is the one sent to check on Hermione.
And that Sex-God!Snape is born of his own imagination and can only become real when he believes he's still out of his mind.
Bravo!

As far as I'm concerned, this IS how the books ended. Canon? What's that? Can't hear you. *enjoys the view of the pyramids from the barge*
After the life he's had, I would think it would take some convincing for Severus to believe in anything good happening to him, much less this much all at once. In the same way that he's always wanted to be a hero (dammit, he earned that Order of Merlin!), I thought it was possible that he'd always wanted to be fabulous lover, but never really been able to let himself go enough to make that happen. In a post-war world where he's a hero, all his dreams should come true.
Sending Ron to check on them, well, I just couldn't help myself. *grin*
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for sharing your thoughts - exuberant reviews make me a very happy writer.

ok...well that was sort of weird that they hit it off so easily..

I appreciate that you took the time to review, even if the story didn't really work for you.
This is definately how DH should have ended.....Snape deserves his freedom after being at the beck and call of two masters for so many years. Thanks for a beautifully observered and written story.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Thank you. I wrote this just before DH came out, wanting to give our beloved Potions master at least one chance for happiness. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Response from savine_snape (Reviewer)
I was disappointed with the ending that JK gave our beloved potions master, thank goodness for fanfic where we can give him a better out look.
Absolutely loved it!! A brilliant story!!!
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Thank you for that wonderfully enthusiastic review!
So smart and funny and well-done! I really enjoyed this and thought your Severus with all his delusions and self-doubt was brilliant!
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Thank you. He's had so little go his way in his life, I wanted a happy ending for him, but he was very reluctant to accept it.
I'm a thoroughly smitten fangirl now...I must read them all!
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
And such an adorable smitten kitten you are! Thank you, my dear.
fun story. Nice to see Severus get what he deserves.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Thank you. I thought it was important that someone treat him right, since Jo clearly wouldn't.
Thank you! This is just what I needed after reading Deathly Hallows.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
You are quite welcome. I had anticipated that there might be a need...
very lovely...if only DH were to end like this I would have no qualms about opening the book and reading what it holds...
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Fingers crossed - we'll know soon enough.
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Most excellent story Buzzy!!!! I was all giggles with the idea of Snape and house elf sex, the coffee list, poor Snape being smothered in hugs from Minerva and Molly. It was such a poignant theme that Snape couldn’t accept that it was reality. I am going to print this out, and reread it after I finish book 7. I do think it will make me feel better. Thank you for giving Snape a happily ever after that is wonderful.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
I'm glad you liked it, sweetie! I'm planning to (metaphorically) cut out any pages where Jo is mean to our darling Severus and paste this in instead.

Mmm sweet!
Author's Response: Thank you!
What a brilliant story! I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end.

I'm glad you liked it, thank you for reviewing.
I absolutely love this story and will cherish it as the true ending that our dear ones (including the know-it-all here) deserve.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
I'm so glad you liked it. I think there are a lot of us who want to think of this as the real ending, whatever JKR decides.
I loved it; especially the part about Severus thinking he was delusional.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Thank you. It would seem a more rational explanation than the truth, at least to one as cynical as he!
Yay! I love a happy ending. :)

I think in a week I will take DH, rip out the hideous ending Rowling wrote for our beloved character and glue your ending into the book!I'm horribly anxious and your story gave me some kind of relief: tank you!
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
If I could help relieve some of your anxiety, then I have done my job. This is, of course, the ending I'm hoping for!
This is THE ENDING. Well really the beginning because I beg for a sequel. No I don't know what the sequel should be, but I can't help being greedy after such a great read.
The consistently doubting Severus was quite enjoyable, while everyone else was creepy (in a good way) with their Pleasantville-likeness. Seamus with the coffee, and Harry with the speech were really great touches. Plus the lemony-icing goodness! Is it really any wonder I'm screaming sequel?
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Shall we tell JKR not to bother with DH, that we already have an ending? :D Writing the story from Severus' view meant that there wasn't much explanation of everyone else's actions. In my mind, I picture lots of behind-the-scenes whispers about how to behave with everyone being really nervous around him and walking on eggshells. I suppose it does come off sort of Pleasantville-ish when seen only through his eyes. I can't promise a sequel, though you never know where the muse might lead. Thank you so much for the lovely review.
Yay! Excellent!!! (now, if only we could get this ending with DH.....)
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
I somehow doubt that JKR will be so kind to our dear Severus, though we can always hope. I'm glad you liked it, thanks for reviewing.
OMG Buzzy!!! Depending on how DH turns out...I might make this my personal canon!!! You rock! I loved this. I couldn't stop giggling! Brilliant, hilarious...and really very touching. Just the kind of ending we all think he deserves!
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Thank you, Britt. I'm so pleased that you liked it.
It is what he deserves, which is why I rushed to get it out before JKR does her worst. I fear for our darling Severus, so I wanted to have one corner of our little universe where he could be happy. You are more than welcome to join me in our own version of canon. :D
If this was a dream... (still not sure though :p) What a way to go! A perfect day, ending with a perfect shag. Can't ask much more than that after a long life's work.By the way... job well done. Loved it!
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
It doesn't have to be a dream, at least until DH comes out. :D
I'm glad that you liked it. Thank you for reviewing.
What an interesting take on Severus having an actual good day. Says something about how horrible the rest of his life has been, that he thinks it's brain damage or an illusion.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Or a plot against him. He just can't figure out what the plot is! Poor man, he really hasn't had things easy.
Thank you for reviewing.
this needs a sequel. please
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
That's so flattering! I haven't really thought about a sequel, but you never know where the muse will lead.
If only DH could end this way! I loved this a lot.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. This really is my wish for how DH should treat Severus. We'll know soon enough.
That was absolutely wonderful. I loved how Severus believed the entire thing to be a dream until the very end.
Bravo.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
Thank you, I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it. He would find it all a bit difficult to accept, poor man.
Response from Kore (Reviewer)
Yes he would find it difficult. I kind of have a picture in my mind like a scene from a cartoon. The wall comes crashing down on him, but instead of being crushed, he finds himself standing in the window, thinking, "That's it?"
Response from a_bees_buzz (Author of A Good Day)
What a perfect image! Yes! That's exactly what it would be like. Particularly that moment on the battlefield where he's finished his life work and then looks around wondering why he isn't dead yet.
