I adore the world of HP.
Thanks for stopping by. I'm off to stir my cauldron.
Reviews for The Need to Know
I liked this little fic. Of course, I would like to know more about what happens next.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Now you sound like me. :) I always like to know what's next. I'm thinking things will work out well. Teehee
I really liked your last line. It was perfection.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
thank you very much
I really enjoyed that and I liked the ending, too - though I hope Hermione does indeed dash off to see Severus...
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thanks! I'm thinking she is. teehee
I really enjoyed that and would love to know what happens next:)
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thanks for reading. :) I'm thinking she took off to see him.
Neat story, Sun. You packed so much into so few words and I love the ambiguity of the ending!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thanks for reading! I appreciate it and the comments.
Ooh! Very good. Just what I had in mind, woot! This was nice. Short, sweet, and to the point. I liked the tone of Severus' letter. Very honest, but not at all sappy. Perfect! :-D
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
thank you!
I enjoy this story. Will you continue it?
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
I think I will leave it as is. Just a little one shot. :) Thanks for reading and am glad you liked it!
The only complaint I have is that it leaves me wanting more. I just loved it!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thanks! I'm happy you liked it. I also prefer longer stories. Sometimes, though, I can't help but to put in some little shorties. Teehee. :)
Interesting one-shot!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thanks for reading! :)
Well, I certainly hope she is going to visit Severus as implied. Not bad, I usually like longer stories but this was good. I just wish it had a definate ending so to speak.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
I hear ya about the ending, but you've got the gist of it. :) I'd like to think she's Apparating over right about now, letter in hand, questions on her lips. :)
I've read the reviews left so far and am amazed that everyone reads it as Hermione is dashing off to meet with Severus. I saw it as, 'Oh! He what?' And she walks out the door to get on with whatever she was doing before the letter came.
At first I thought this was an opening chapter, figured there would be more. Once I was aware that it was a 'one-shot'... I was lost as to how you could just end it up in the air like that. It feels so unfinished just hanging there.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Ever the complainer. No, just kidding. :)You can see it as ending any way you'd like . That's why I left the ending open. In my mind, she's on her way to discuss his letter with him in person. I tried to clue the reader in to her feelings before she read the letter--her worry he found something lacking (which could mean anything), but then her heartrate increasing and her palms getting sweaty. I promise if she'd not liked his letter I would have had her with an incredulous expression or a snicker. I meant for it to read as if she was in her flat doing whatever, but aftert that, the door of her flat (main one) closed behind her to signify that she'd left. I didn't want to spell it out, as I was trying something different.Anyway, just so you know, on the main page of the site, it shows that it has one chapter only, and there is a yes there saying it's complete. The chapter title is called One Shot Only or something like that. In the emails where I pimped this and on my LJ, I pimped it as a one shot only. There's not much else I can do to warn the reader that it's a one shot. That's for them to investigate beforehand. Why did I just leave it this way? Because I was trying something different. I normally wrap things up in a pretty little bow, and I felt the need for something that left the future up to the reader. And I will likely do more of these in the future at some point. Seems most people enjoyed it and have been able to make their own assumptions as to what happens next, good or bad.
Response from Darque Hart (Reviewer)
Bah - what is there if one can't complain!
Where the problem originates from is; I read the story at Ashwinder! And there, m'dear, it is not marked as a finished story. When I then saw it up here I noted that it was listed as finished and I was justifiably confused.
Besides, if one does not wrap up their story in pretty silver and green ribbons, the Gryffindor inside tends to run out all over the place. [Even if she did close the door.]
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Oh, yeah, it doesn't say over there on the main page, and when you click, you still don't know because it takes you to the story page. Dang. I was thinking you'd read it here. LOL No wonder you were like wtf? Teehee. I think I'll jot this down as a suggestion for them. To be honest, I really like knowing if something's a wip or complete or what before I start, ya know? Hehe. I also like to know what genre it is a well so I don't get stuck in some sad character death tale. Thanks for the input! :)
You mean she stopped to close the door?
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
LOLRight.
The click of the door as she leaves to head to the nearest apperation point right? Right? Right? To run into his arms and live happily ever after?? ((smiles contentedly))
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Mmmhmm. That's what I'm thinking. Teehee
A wonderful piece of fun and "love" to begin a day. One can see him waiting to send the letter. I can also see the pile of crumpled up parchment in the corner that he tossed away as he tried to write it over and over always doubting how it sounded! hahaha! I'm sure I see a vapor trail following Hermione as she speeds her way to him too! Thanks so much for sharing this.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
I'm so happy you like it. I agree that he wrote quite a few before finding one that sounded all right. :)
Thank you for this sweet story. This is the reason I love good short-stories so much! The say the important stuff but leave things open for the imagination.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thanks for reading! I'm so glad you like it.
Marvelous little thing. I can just feel the tension between them during her apprenticeship with him. I hope they have a nice dinner together and a eventful trip now that the work is over.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
I'm glad you caught that! I wanted to show that they did have a "past" together, even though it wasn't romantic, just closeness. The dinner and trip is going well. :) I just peeked in. Quite heated in fact. LOL
Response from nata (Reviewer)
LOL! I'm delighted to hear that.
Oh, very nice! While this could easily stand on its own, another chapter/one shot would be most welcome.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
~waves~ Thanks. I think it's done with. :)
surely you intend to add more to this delicious little plot bunny, maybe grow it inot a full fledged rabbi. Just as an Easter present for me?It's great, write more
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
I won't be adding any more to this one, but I am going to be posting another story that I've written for a different prompt response. I hope you like it. :)
A nice little story, thank you. :)
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thanks for reading. Happy you liked it.
Yeah, if that was me, that is what I would want that letter to say.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Me too! :)
ooooooooooooooooo...I love it!Well done!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thank you for reading. Happy you enjoyed it.
I WANT MORE!! ~Lotm--I have a Mob of Irate-Torch Wielding Fans, and I WILL use them on you!!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
I eat Irate-torch wielders for breakfast. :)Hmm. I can make an exception though and have them for dinner. Teehee
Response from ladyofthemasque (Reviewer)
Hmmphf. Then I'll just steal Snape away for a little vacation, and not let you play with him until you promise to write more delicious romantic SS/HG-ness!(I'm trying to get him and Hermione to cooperate in helping me finish Spinster, as it is...!)~Lotm
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Spinster? Do you have a new story that I don't know about? :) ~sends your muse a mask and catnip so she helps you out~ Look forward to reading it! :)
Response from ladyofthemasque (Reviewer)
Muahahahah, why yes, I have a new SS/HG in the works...It's quite large by now...novel-sized...but I haven't posted anywhere but at the Mobsite for the time being. I do plan to finish it soon, and when I do, I'll spam PP and Ashwinder and RS.org or something...~Lotm
Very delightful. I feel that Severus' letter did a great job of encapsulating his emotions in a way that is expressive, but still believable. Well done.
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Thank you. I thought it would be cool to include that he is truly interested in things that she believes in (house-elf stuff) and not just potions and the like. Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Run, girl! Go get your man! I can see her thinking, "FINALLY! It's about time!" LOL Snape! He's what's for dinner!
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of The Need to Know)
Teehee... Too right!
