Reviews for A Most Important Element in Water
Well that's one way to find out a girl likes you. So what is the difference between a buck and a stag?
Response from Phyllidia (Reviewer)
Thank you so much for the indepth explaination. I thought it was mostly an issue of size and antlers but I was unsure. We have lots of deer her in Georgia but they are the smaller versions (though I'm sure the hunters would love the huge racks). The ones we had in our neighborhood used to like to eat our leftover theater popcorn!

Thank you again. :)About he buck and stag:Technically, they are two different species. There are very many deer species throughout the world, the smaller ones usually are being called buck and doe, the larger ones stag (or hart) and hind, and the very large ones bull and cow (male moose are called bulls). In Europe, the European Roe Deer (small, buck/doe) and the European Red Deer (larger, stag/hind) are the most common. The stag is often found in heraldry, his antlers resemble branches of trees ... a bit like the antlers of caribou but larger, with sharp and pointed ends. A buck, the smaller animal, has antlers which are pointed and resemble sharp, dagger-like twigs. The buck/stag thing has been discussed a lot on various fan forums. It's a bit nit-picky, because in 'normal speech', as far as I know, the terms are used interchangeably. However, someone like Severus, with a doe as his Patronus, would know everything about deer. And someone like Hermione, whose best friend has a stag and whose love interest has a doe... she'd certainly read up on them as well.
Well I am glad Severus knows now. I always thought he could be a good help. Enjoying!

Great chapter. Glad to see Pavarti in such a good light.

Thank you. I thought there had to be a reason for her to be in Gryffindor. :)
Poor Patil family. But great chapter.

That had to be a kick in the gut for Hermione. I think not being 'needed' hurt her more than Ron replacing her so quickly.

That's exactly it. She wants to be in the middle of things.
Nice to see a little picture of Severus' muggle life. And that he has family. Enjoying!

I'm glad you like his family. Thank you.
I hadn't really picked up this story until today - too little time, that sort of thing. But I am wonderfully happy that I did! You are an excellent writer, and I am thoroughly enjoying this. I can't wait until your next update!

I'm sorry that this reply is so late, I had to deal with real life. Thank you so much for your lovely review. The next chapter is in the queue. :)
Well, I just read this from beginning to here and I am enchanted with the story utterly. This idea of yours is excellent and so unique! You manage to at once satisfy my desires and keep me on my toes. Thank you very much for posting. Faved. Oh - and Fierce Lady Mouse Hunter? AWESOME.

Congrats to a well deserved OWL Award! Brave twist in seriously severing Hermione from the duo- it definitely adds to the interest in how her character will develop for the rest of the story.
Response from sylvanawood (Author of A Most Important Element in Water)
Thank you very much! She still has a lot to learn. :)
Why do I think that Snape is not going to be happy to see Hermione when he is already so confused!I hope Snape gets there quickly! LOL

Good chapter - I am loving this story - so original and interesting. I liked Paulie - good original character. The name you picked for her "Nightshade" - very mysterious - good choice

Thank you very much! I like Paulie, too. Some characters just jump out of the keyboard and smirk at you. He's one of them.
I cannot believe how beautifully detailed you have made this story! I am envious of your talent. I am a little disappointed that Severus spent the night drinking and snoring I was hoping for some lemons or at least lemon drops. Oh well I am sure they will be worth the wait! Well done. Irish

Thank you very much! I'm glad you are so patient. :)
That was a fascinating chapter. You captured Petunia perfectly. This is a strange and interesting story. It kind of makes sense that Dudley would rebel toward magic rather that agree with his parents. They made such a big deal of hating it they drove him to wish he had it maybe. I hope Severus didn't really kill the Malfoys. I suppose he would if he had to in order to maintain his place as a spy. And maybe he felt he would be more merciful than Voldemort's other goons.
i hope you update soon. i absolutely love AU stories :)

More than two years later the story is finally finished. I'm horribly late, but nevertheless: Thank you!
