Witches and wizards have always carried the burden of their allegiances to the dark or to the light. The choice to follow one or the other dictates a person's character. Attica Flamel pays fealty to neither. When grief morphs into an irrepressible need for vengeance, Attica will stop at nothing until the debts are paid.

Reviews for The Alchemist's Agenda
I continue to be amazed by the way Attica has been able to carry out her agenda for so long... and in this chapter I have begun to wonder if she isn't another Bellatrix in the making.
Your story is multifaceted, and there are so many layers that seem to roll and fold over one another. Well done.

One of the many things I am loving about this tale is all of the background history as well as Attica's hardcore, deep passion and strength--a volatile, searing energy she exudes. Thank you for giving us such a complex, multi-layered witch for Severus, the Dark Lord, Bellatrix and anyone else who crosses her path to be wary of. Love the last line, or in other words, 'take that, Bella'Looking forward to more!

I'm so glad you appreciate the development of this character. I hope you continue to enjoy reading about her as much as I've enjoyed sharing her story.- baylor
Don't quite know why I haven't read this one before--perhaps because I'm not very fond of stories centered on original characters and Dark ones at that, but this is beautifully written and engaging enough to overcome my prejudices. The emerald from Salazar's scepter is interesting. An eighth horcrux? I wonder if it will somehow keep Voldemort alive, since it isn't clear to me how close to canon this is. Though surely we would have heard if Neville lived with a girl in their class. And the trio wouldn't have wondered about Nicholas Flamel in quite the same way if Attica Flamel were a classmate. Very intriguing.
So many bad things have happened to Attica in her life that I can see why she has come to dislike anyone who has figured into the loss of her parents and grandparents. Yet she seems fond of Professors McGonagall and Snape-probably because she associates each of them with saving her. Then again I could be completely wrong.
I wonder what the connection might be between Slytherin's scepter, Tom's ability to create Horcruxes, and the emerald Attica now has. Could the Elder Wand and the Philosopher's Stone be found somewhere in the mix?
Soooo many questions! This is a great story. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Ah, yes! Clues and background... do we know this man who saved Attica from the burning ruins of her home? This is getting very interesting.
Beth
ahh, the plot begins to thicken, with the spicy scent of the man that saved her from the flames.
Attica eh? to me, that's the name of a night club for dancing in sg! good start! hope you will make it all the way to the end! there's nothing thus far to rate so i will wait.
Great start, I'm looking forward to finding out more about Attica, what was in the silver encased vial with the emerald stopper.
Very interesting! Your OC seems like a well-rounded character - not too sweet, not perfect - and with great potential. (Flamel! ooh) Looking forward to more.
what attica going to do, now that severus know that she was using him... great chapie!!
But the truth was nagging at her, deriding her, and keeping her grounded in the reality that she so desperately wished she could alter.
I swear, Attica and Severus when he was young are like two peas in a pod. But what is this "truth" that is weighing so heavily on her?

Attica wearing Voldemort's Horcrux around her neck made me think of the terrible times Harry, Ron, and Hermione had experienced when they had Voldemort's locket with them when they were on the run and trying to find all the Horcruxes and a way to destroy them. Must they now find Gryffindor's Sword to have any hope of destroying the evil within the stone? The Charmed knife that Severus had used to try to take a sliver of the stone had been useless... I hope Gryffindor's Sword will be able to do it... without killing the one who must wield it.
Great Chapter!!!

The emerald Attica has came from Salazar Slytherin’s scepter, but I don't think Slytherin had anything to do with the dark magic that is now affecting her. I do believe that Riddle found the scepter and created one more Horcrux using this emerald, and has been working to corrupt her soul since she first claimed the stone all those years ago.
If this is, indeed, what happened, I have to wonder how they can ever feel free of Voldemort. It is beyond creepy to think that there is still at least one more Horcrux. and that the Dark Lord's soul is doing his best to turn Attica into the next Peter Pettigrew. *shivers*
Beth
What in the world will Attica do now that her secret is an open book? What will Severus do now that Attica's secret is known to him? Will the evil Voldemort seeks to do find one more creature that he can warp to his sickness? Can it really be true that Voldemort can no longer harm them, any of them? I find myself thinking over and over again, 'Are you certain?'
Can't wait to see how everything falls into place... Thanks for a great story!
Beth
The burden of his life-debt to Attica is probably the only thing that could have made Severus agree to help her recreate the Sorcerer’s Stone, but at what cost? I am worried that this can only lead to trouble. What is it that she truly wants to accomplish? Can finally killing Potter bring her any happiness? While Attica is having visions of Voldemort coming back, the only thing I see is a poster of her with a banner reading "BIG MISTAKE" plastered across it. Lord, I hope Severus will finally figure out what she has in mind before it's too late. What a great chapter!!! Beth

The fruit of this quest has long been sought,
But faint of heart should tarry naught.
And now Attica rushes out to seek an outlet for her vengence upon the Dark Lord... before she can change her mind... and I hope she survives.
I'm enjoying your story very much.

After reading this chapter I began to have a better appreciation of how the events surrounding her parents and grandparents deaths had shaped her world –and her resolve.
Well done!

“Potter will not run. Once he sees the memories I gave him, he will not back down. He will confront our master. The treachery you speak of is not mine alone.”
Whaaaaat...? I had thought Attica hated the Dark... but now I don't know what to think. Are she and Snape working together? Are they just tolerating each other?
It's a good mystery you have here, baylor, and I can't wait to learn more.
Beth
I'm still leaning to the idea, that Attica is on the side of light, but it's getting harder.
