‘Fifty Steamy Numbers: How Arithmancy Can Find Your Soul Mate’,” confirmed Professor McGonagall. “’Boom Boom’ has promised us fireworks – I just hope that he doesn’t mean that literally,” she joked.OMG! ’Boom Boom’ Bloomberg and Severus Snape in the same castle is going to go off like a Roman candle. Fireworks, indeed.I love the letter format, and the exchange of messages is a hoot. Ii especially loved that Minerva managed to stay a step ahead of Severus everytime. Poor guy... each time he sent Hermione a note stating what he would or would not be doing, he quickly got a note from Minerva explaining what he really would or would not be doing. Nothing like calling in a life debt when it comes to insuring our Severus' cooperation.*i iz grinning* Beth

*Grins back* It will certainly be a challenge for the poor man... But in a way he deserves what he gets, as you will see as the story unfolds.... Best wishes, Pxx

I love this--really enjoyed the *polite* banter between Minerva and Severus--also love the undeniable chemistry that is seeping through between Hermione & Severus, even though the letters format--this is a unique reading experience for me, which is wonderfully dynamic! Severus is in his element with his retorts, but can *almost* feel an apprenhension in the air on his part and a determination on Hermione's--the battle of the wills is felt & already in action--Looking forward to more, Pxx!

Oh, I'm so pleased - and you've nailed the interpretation as well! Everything in this story is in letter format (or something similar), so the story unfolds 'outside' the indirect narrative. All of which sounds horribly pretentious - it's supposed to be funny, and I'm really pleased you liked it! More soon! Pxx

LMAO. Boom Boom and Severus in the same room? *That* will be rich. (Should I be concerned about the spores that Severus has already begun activating? Sounds like an accident begging to happen...)Looking forward to reading more *very soon*. ;)hm88

This is hilarious and brilliant and I love Severus's Quick Quotes Quill!!
Love the epistolary style, and the fact that you're already bringing the characters' personalities to the fore! Looking forward to lots of laughter, and hopefully some combination of angst, fluff and lemons too!
I loved this when I read it on the exchange, and it is every bit as charming, funny and delightful the second time.
Response from Proulxes (Author of Summer School (For The Romantically Challenged))
Thank you! I am delighted you enjoyed it, Dreamy! Thank you for taking the time to let me know. I will miss the Exchange dreadfully -- but will be submitting art for the Promtfest that replaced it this winter. Best wishes, Pxx
Bloomberg sounds like an American version of Lockhart, that could make for some interesting potions "accidents". Love it can't wait for more.

Well, an alternate title for this chapter would be "Cissy Knows Best." Amazing how much backstory you conveyed in her brief exchange of letters with Severus. I can only hope that she employs some major Slytherin chops at the upcoming celebrity match!

! I am so glad you liked it - I found that less is often more in terms of back story, don't you? Narcissa does indeed have a plan, and it invovles Luna Lovegood and Lucius' cane....! The final chapter will post next Friday! Best wishes, Pxx

I was ROFL each time I read and reread the minutes to the staff meeting. Why can't all meetings be so much fun to observe? Every new read through had me laughing harder. Watching Minerva try to retain some degree of control over her "children" was as much fun as I've had in a while. Figuring out who uttered which [*unrecordable noise*] and then reading again just made it that much more fun!I think my favorite part was when Sybill tried to back Severus' observations about Boom Boom and new Healer in Greenhouse Number Five. Alerting everyone to Hettie Henwood’s latest reports in the Prophet was the cherry on top! I am now sore and arse-less because I fell out of my chair while laughing my butt off.You are genius at writing this kind of writing humor! I hope that somehow between them Narcissa's and Ginny's efforts will help Severus and Hermione see just how much they do belong together. Thank you for this chapter!!!!!Beth

Ha Ha Ha Ha!! Soooo pleased you enjoyed the chapter, Beth. It was great fun to write. I have actually been in a staff meeting that went a bit like this - errrm - well, without the actual explosions, but... nearly! Hope your arse recovers in time for next Friday when the last chapter will be posted...! Pxx

sighing ... I was very happy to find a new chapter of your wonderful story and decided to re-read the whole story, a delightful way to wind down from a harrowing work-week, thank you. I will work on my wandless magic and try to influence the queue moving faster ...

Awww... break my heart. If that last missive isn't Snapespeak for "my heart is breaking" and "I know when I've been beaten", I don't know what is. I just hope H. has the good sense to see it, too, and reevaluate her priorities. ;)The rest of the chapter was good for several snickers, chuckles, and outright guffaws. I love this story! Thanks for brightening my day. :)hm88

Don't worry! I like a good HEA as much as the next fangrrl. Final chapter is due next Friday, thanks to the lovely nagandsev. Expect more sarcasm and disdain, an intervention from supportive Slytherins, an answer to the question of what does Hermione SEE in Boom Boom anyway... and a very, very big explosion. Best wishes, Pxx

I would consider it a personal favor if iridescent vomitus via magical virus is persistant through general population attending Quidditch match. Human effluvia does so tend to add upsidedown clarity to mature situations. Also, please allow Cissy free reign of Slytherin female evilness...and Boom Boom's reveal as a complete jerk...and, please keep Minerva sane...and, and...Severus, kiss the girl already! Your humor rules, Lady. Have you worked in a Lord of the Dance number, yet? Thank you. Thank you. J.F.

This is priceless! I have laughed, chuckled, snickered and (on at least one occasion) snorted. The epistolary form is not usually one of my favorites, but you are definitely rockin' it here! BTW - I'm picturing "Boom Boom" as a more macho, Americanized version of Gilderoy. (works for me).
Response from Proulxes (Author of Summer School (For The Romantically Challenged))
Oh, excellent! Delighted to have amused you,

! In my head, Boom Boom is a combination of Gilderoy Lockheart and Ian Malcolm from the Jurassic Park films (mmmmmmm!) ;) -- but he's not quite all that he seems....! Next chapter will be up on Friday - and the last one, the week after that. Thanks so much for taking the time to write to me. Pxx

If Lucius Malfoy wishes to spend his evenings watching you cavort around with your new – I shudder to use the word – 'boyfriend', then it is of no interest to me. I suggest that you are developing an irrational paranoia. Have you considered hormone replacement therapy? This was brilliant and I totally laughed out loud. Severus really knows how to piss a woman off, doesn't he?"Boom Boom" seems to have gotten some of his own back: "I guess that makes us even, Buddy."Minerva is priceless: Trying to execute the Wronski Feint while travelling upside down is never a good idea, even for the fittest seeker. What were you thinking of? If I didn't know you better, I would have said that you were showing off...! Of course he was showing off, but I imagine it galled him to have Minerva point it out to him. *giggle*I think the funniest thing about this chapter was finding out that Lucius is bald as an egg. Perhaps he'll think twice before doing anything that may cause him to fall afoul of Hermione's temper. It is possible to cast a Hominus Revelio, Petrificus Totalus and a defoliating charm simultaneously when totally furious. Our Hermione is not one to be taken lightly.Wonderful chapter!!!Beth

I love Hermione's sense of justice with hexing Lucius where it hurts the most - lol! - wonderful! Plus, the little jealous digs that Severus can't help but include in his correspondence -- heeeee! Poor jealous baby! And the plot thickens! Great fun, Miz Px!ps I loathe Jerry the Boom Boom - ha!
