How terrible for Snapey! I am so glad Rose found him and came to his defense. Please tell me Fudge has been replaced as Minister, so that Harry and Hermione can get Snape's money released to him -- and get rid of the suppressor cuff. Horros! Thank you for writing and posting this; I am eager to read the rest of this story.

Oh my god, this story is just the fucking cutest thing I've ever read in ym whole life. I love it so much and have read it every December since I discovered fanfiction (as well as several times over non-festive months too!) This is honestly one of my very favouritest SSHG fics ever. Teddy radiator, you are an angel! ❤️
For some reason this story was missed when posted, and I've just run across it this week. You need to edit the pre-notes in Chapter 1 - do not read without a box of tissues! Oh goodness, i laughed, gasped and cried all during this. It is now going on my fav. list so as to be re-read each holiday. Another wonder offering; thank you for sharing.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely story, thank you!
Author's Response: Thank YOU!
Sniff sniff. The downside of reading fics like this while pregnant is that you bawl like a baby several times during the course of reading them. However, I'd rather not have to wait several more months to read them so I'm not a teary mess (and who am I kidding, I'd be crying anyways!), so it's all good..
I really loved this story (though Harry wanting to marry his niece is kinda weird to me); everyone is in character, and there is just the perfect balance of angst and romance and tension. You've never disappointed me with any of your stories, Teddy, and I very much doubt you ever will! Thank you for sharing another of your works with us, and for giving this man a happier life than JK ever did, which is something that has grown to mean more to me in the past few years than I ever thought would be possible.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Choose Something Like A Star)
First of all, congratulations! I wish you a healthy baby and a speedy recovery. Secondly, thank you for readng. This story gave me a few teary moments while writing it, which is something that rarely happens. I know that Harry/Rose seems strange for some, but since she is technically not related to him except by marriage, I didn't feel it was inappropriate, just unusual.Your last sentence had me punching the air and saying, "Yes! This! This is why I do it!" I never felt he had a chance with JKR, and I have always felt he deserved it. Aurette used to say she wrote SSHG so 'Snape could get laid'. I think I write SSHG so he can get happy.Thank you again for your amazing words, and the best of everything in the future for you and your child.
Response from TheCopperDragon2004 (Reviewer)
Thank you. (I love Aurette, he he). I don't write HG/SS because I don't think I'd be good at it, but I try to write happy endings when he is in my stories.
You might like this- this will actually be my second little one coming. When I was pregnant with my first, my husband woke me one morning (before we even knew the sex of the baby) and told me he had a dream that we had a boy, and we named him Severus. (He is a huge HP fan too). When we found out it was a boy, he really wanted to name him Severus. I made him think about it for two months before I would agree, lol, because I didn't want him picking it only because he had a dream, but he was adamant. So I guess this has only made me more determined to see that Severus has a happy story this time around. (Does that make me sound like even more of a nut? Lol)
Poor Snape, I imagine he just doesn't know what to do or think, knowing that these two lovely ladies could want him in their lives, with no expectations that he do something for them in return.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Choose Something Like A Star)
It's true that most of his life, a lot was expected of him for little in return.
Hehe, time for her bossy side to surface again. Sic Harry on the ministry! Ha ha ha!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Choose Something Like A Star)
Hee hee, some things never change :)
Poor Snape. I'm sure he won't be happy when he wakes, but hopefully they can talk some sense into his stubborn head.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Choose Something Like A Star)
He's stubborn, that's for sure! ;)
What a wonderful story! I enjoyed every chapter.

What a beautiful story. Simply touching. One of those fics that just keeps on giving no matter how many times you read it! This should be everyones go-to Christmas tear-jerker fic! Now to find a box of tissue. *sniffle*

I love this wonderful bond between Severus and Rose that started on the day they met, and continued to grow every single day of their lives.I also love the way you tell us so much about what has happened over the last twenty years or so without info dumping. We get a clear picture of where things stand for everyone in such a small amount of text.Rose and Harry ... interesting. I never in a million years would have guessed that, but like she and Severus, Rose seems to have always had a close relationship with Harry. I think good friendships and tragedy are two very real things that can lead to a deeper relationship. I was pleased that Severus pointed out the fact that she could just be a Ginny replacement, and that the couple had already discussed such a thing. Yes, I believe I like the idea of them as a couple. And, Harry was invited to join Severus and couch as an honorary audience member. I wonder if Harry understands what an elite group he has just been inducted into. The best moment, however, was when Rose threw herself at Severus at the end of the song, just as tradition dictates. His worst fears relieved. I think that it nicely showcased what I think every father feels when his little girl finds a man to replace him as number one.Teddy, this story really had an impact on me for reasons that I am not sure even I know. I will tell you that there is one other story that I pull out and read every single Christmas because it is heartwarming, and honest, and paints a picture of all of the things that I love about Christmas. I could say the same for this one. That just means that I will now have less time for shopping and baking because I will be rereading two stories this year and forever. Very beautiful unmaterialistic take on a rags to riches story. Love, love, love this!

Thank you so very much - I get a thrill everytime I receive a review from you,
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Choose Something Like A Star)
, because I know it will be inciteful, encouraging, honest, and helpful. This story came to mean so much to me last year when I was writing it throughout the Christmas period, and to hear that it has touched you gives me such joy. Not many understood where the Rose/Harry thing was going, but I am glad you saw the parallels, and the pitfalls. I will confess I cried myself as I wrote the ending, because I wanting Severus to know he was loved. That is a character that has affected so many of us on so many levels, and to give him the chance to find happiness is a theme I return to again and again in SSHG. This pairing is the one I feel has the greatest potential for a fruitful, solid relationship between two people, which is why it's my flagship. Thank you again for being so amazingly supportive. You are the type of reader I always hope to engage, because I know that reading is like a dialogue, and you can help ME to grow as an author.

One thing that I love about your stories is that they contain angsty moments, but you don't draw them out for chapter after chapter. Not that I dislike it that other way, but I guess I sort of like the ability to sit back and enjoy the drama, knowing that it won't last forever. How angry must she have been at him? But it seems like something he'd do, doesn't it? Get scared and run. Her anger on behalf of Rose was spot on. We women can get over the things that are done to us, but mess with our children and watch out.Your Rose has been absolutely irresistible throughout this tale, and this chapter is no different. I love how she answers Severus' proposal on Hermione's behalf. And the way she is so on board with Severus and her mum getting married, that she is completely blind to the fact that some might not see it as perfect as she does. She is definitely their strongest advocate, and a good one to have on their side. The photo box for Harry was such a thoughtful gift. It was good for Severus to let it go, and good for Harry to have something to treasure. It was beneficial for both.Fabulous chapter, as always.

Thank you so much. I am by nature not an angsty person, although I know that, in the literary world, conflict is King. I prefer to let the action move the angst, because a story can get so bogged down in the conflict that they forget the story arc realy is King. And I like stories where Severus and Hermione have a common conflict to fight together - I think that is where their strength lies as a couple - not the bickering they do between one another, but the way they meet a conflict as a partnership and resolve it. A friend's daughter was the basis for the Rose character - and she is everybit as personable and good hearted as Rose. As I stated, originally the story was called Christmas Rose, but the wonderful Subervsa already has a story by that name, so I changed it. But the reality is that this is Rose's story as much as Severus and Hermione's, in my mind.

I think that this prologue has one of the most beautiful descriptions of a mother and daughter that I've ever read. Teddy, you paint such a sweet picture of Rose and Hermione that it touches the heart of the read and draws them in completely. One can't help but adore such a kind, sweet child and her loving mother. Well done. :)

Thank you so much! This is based on a real mother and daughter I know, who are such a great couple - a real inspiration to watch together.

Great story - a bit fluffy, maybe, but exactly right for around Christmas time ;)

I have read this several times and have left reviews(I hope) at TPP. I must say this first chapter today left me in tears, maybe it is the residuals of surgery. I suspect it is due to watching my only child graduate three days ago. Your description of Rose as a new born and Hermione's love and pride for her only child resonates deeply.

This story is such a guilty pleasure - especially reading it in May time. I know you're busy with proper, published O-fic, but I hope you never tire of creating gems like this!

There are so many brilliant bits in this chapter - his returning magic, Harry being all grown up, little Rose. And the smut, of course. Can't forget the smut!
