Reviews for Choose Something Like A Star
....Picks up jaw from ground.......Okay, now I can comment. Very powerful chapters from start to finish. The description of his reaction to the wand was beautiful, and the tiger was fantasic. Severus' acknowledgement of Harry as Harry rather than as James' son might have actually been my favorite part. And the lemony goodness....well, I'm just glad to see that a good time was had by all.

I love the tiger. I love how it is big and imperious and not taking crap from anyone -- the very opposite to how Severus was at the beginning of this story. I imagine that when his magic returned, the force of it set off car alarms for several blocks in every direction. I love the way that Harry just dumps on him everything he has ever dreamed of -- the pardon, the medal, the wand, the freedom -- as if it is just so much stuff he has in his pocket to distribute. No ceremony, just "Here! Take it!" And when you think about it, it really is just so much stuff. The value is in the relationships. They loved him enough to fight for him. After so many years of Severus fighting for others, someone is finally fighting for him (and winning). That is the best of the presents.

Thank you so much! I love the remark about all the car alarms going off - you know that's exactly what would have happened!! Yes, this was the best present, and you're right - the 'stuff' wasn't nearly as important as what they represented.

Well, that was well handled indeed. And I appreciate that they were forced to have an adult conversation about things rather than just leaping into bed. Though hopefully not to much longer on that (waggles eyebrows)....Seriously, though. This is a lovely story, and I continue to be impressed.

I love the parallels you've drawn for them! The way they both put Lily/Ron on pedestals after their deaths, and how they needed someone to speak the truth to them. Drat that Dumbledore for manipulating Severus by keeping Lily on a pedestal. So glad Hermione pursued Severus to talk about things right away, and that he answered her honestly instead of covering up. Thanks for the music, too!

Thank you for you lovely comments! Yes, Dumbledore, as you can probably tell, is NOT one of my favourite characters.

Good old Harry. And he'll be completely oblivious... maybe. ;)

This is such a lovely story!!! Well paced and well written. The progression of the story-line is sensible and unhurried. It's truly been a long time since I've read a fanfic that I have enjoyed as much.I have also read your other stories and have enjoyed them as well. You lay down a solid foundation for your plots and weave them a balance of softly muted drama - the sadness and joy are in perfect harmony. I don't recall reading anything of yours that is overly angsty - for which I'm grateful!Your Severus and Hermione are very belieavable - what a relief!Thank you for sharing your creativity - I look forward to watching for more from you!

Thank you so very much for your wonderful comments - they mean the world to me. I believe in a little tension within a story, but I don't like to read angst for angst sake, and I'm glad to know I'm not alone. Severus was a difficult individual, that's true - and there are some great fics which show him as being very high maintenance but even so, quite lovable (Seven Preposterous Things by Bloodcult of Freud is a masterclass in this type of Severus Snape), but in this case, I felt he would be a changed man - quieter, resigned, tired.I wanted a chance for Hermione to get to know the real Severus, and this could only happen when he allowed the real Severus to emerge after years of anger and bitterness had the chance to be sloughed away by circumstances.Thank you again for your incredible review.

I love the way Hermione handles Severus. It isn't demanding, or condescending, or ... whatever. It's like she just knows the right things to say and in the appropriate manner as to not scare him off, or make him feel like they are not on a level playing field. And he responds to her so well, it is just meant to be. Plus in the span of a few hours they have had all of the big discussions without them feeling like big discussions. They've discussed what they want for the future, their past relationships, their bedroom expectations. Nothing left to do but make Rose a big sister , lol. Do chapters come faster if I chant? Ted-dy, Ted-dy Ted-dy! I can do puppy dog eyes if that's more your style. I'm flexible . :)

The wonderful "random story" button brought me here, and I have enjoyed your story so very much. You've knitted DH in very nicely as far as you could, and also Severus, while clearly OOC compared to his old self, is changed in understandable ways. too bad Minerva has aged so quickly. She'd be a good second support for Severus!I'm quite disappointed in Harry, though. Is he at least pulling some strings in the background? Hermione didn't choose the first song very wisely, I have to say. Startign with something innocent could have saved the evening. As it went, you leave us with the most evil cliffhanger imaginable. How evil is that?! Please continue soon.

D: Just when I thought things were really starting to go well! I just hope he doesn't think that things are or can be too good to be true. Man up, Severus! You've got two adoring women that are counting on you!

First: 'He smirked slightly. I asked what I could give her as a reward for doing well, and that was her choice. He quirked a brow. I actually meant for her to choose either chocolate or butterbeer, but as I didnt make the parameters specific enough, Im afraid she caught me on the technicality.' I love this line, it's so natural and perfect! Second, don't bollocks this up, Sev!

Yay for firing the big guns! Yay for speaking bluntly and getting him to stay! BTW, will you mention the other wizards who are now wearing the suppressor cuff? Seems to me they might have committed suicide or been killed by now.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Choose Something Like A Star)
Yay! I'm not sure who else is now wearing the cuff...The Ministry wouldn't divulge that information to me during my research on the story ;)

Poor Severus :( thank goodness for Rose having her mother's kind heart (and then some)
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Choose Something Like A Star)
Rose is based on a young girl I have the privilege to know -she is full of love and compassion, much like her mother, and I am thrilled to be friends with both of them.

Oh my goodness... I just started reading this and wow! I wasn't even halfway through the prologue when I was reminded of way you are on my favorite author list. You had me in tears when Hermione gave birth and I am SO SO eager to keep reading, but I just had to pause to leave a review. Great job!
