More than a decade has passed since the end of the war and things have certainly changed. New and unexpected bonds of friendship have been formed and old ties have been strained. Will returning to England after all this time be the new beginning Hermione had hoped for or will it be the worst mistake of her life?
Please note: several characters in this story are OOC due to the premise of the original prompt.

I am a Harry Potter fanfic fanatic, I only discovered it after the release of DH. Disapointed that the series was ending, I read some blurb about fan fiction (which I had never heard of before) clicked a link and 'voila' I was hooked. I started out reading mostly Dramione, but evolved and although I still like DM/HG, my OTP is SS/HG. I also enjoy reading LM/HG and 3-somes with SS/HG/LM or DM/HG/BZ. As you can see I love seeing Hermione paired with those lovely Slytherin men.
After reading for nearly 2 years, I started writing a bit of my own, mostly shorter drabbles or ficlets. I've written seveal stories for fests, such as the SS/HG exchange, the LM/HG exchange, and the LuciusBigBang, fest among others.

Very intriguing! More, soon, PLEASE.

Thanks very much. Next chapter is in the queue. :)
Very interesting start indeed! Looking forward to reading more. Methinks there's a history with Snape already, I'm wondering if I read the clues (her taste for older men!!) correctly. She seemed a little 'prickly' towards Snape for there not to be more to the story. I'll admit I am struggling a bit with the idea that Ron could be mature enough to befriend Severus, but I trust you as a writer. I'm anxious to see where you take this.

Thanks for reading. Glad the beginning has you intrigued. I know Harry and especially Ron not just tolerating Severus but being friends with him is extremely OOC but it was a key point in the prompts. You are doing quite will reading the clues so far. ;)
Really interesting and funny start!! Update soon. :)

Excellent story, frustrating and oh so very entertaining :)

Sniffle! I was quite worried at first that Hermione seemed to be being really prejudiced and unfair - I'm glad that she had a good, if mistaken reason. I love Tee, and reformed!Lucius and Narcissa being bossy and maternal - splendid story all round.

What an absolute perfect ending. I love how, just as Draco stopped Hermione from stumbling across his folks out in the garden, Severus and Hermione's "children" tried to stop Draco ... unsuccessfully :)Fabulous ending. I sometimes hate epilogues because they are unnecessary, or they tell too much, or they mess up the happy ending that was already there. But I love this one. Great, great story!

Thanks so much for reading and for all your very lovely comments. Yes poor Draco, it's enough to emotional scar a boy!Glad you liked the quickie epilogue. The story ended where I wanted it to. But I figured people might want to know "the rest of the story."

Oh for goodness sake, Hermione, stop torturing yourself. If you won't hook up for yourselves, then do it for the sake of the children, er ... pups.I can't dwell too long here in tearjerker land. Must go find happy ending.

LOL! If you've ever read any of my fics then you know that I am a happy endings junkie. :)

Right now, it seemed highly likely that he had somehow managed to bugger his own love life nearly ten years earlier, and he had no memory of the event at all.Only he could ruin a relationship a whole decade in advance, LOL.And at the chapter's end, poor Severus is so out of his league. But at least he has an idea that he did something wrong, whether intentional or not, so he won't be completely blindsided.

I feel a little melty every time Unca' Sev and Al are together.I love the really awful and inappropriate dates that Severus and Hermione brought to the dinner at Malfoy Manor. And then the river ... what a perfect bonding moment. I am totally in love with Tom Riddle ... the second.
Response from magalena (Author of Take a Chance on Love)
Thanks, I loved Al and unca' Sev. Like Hermione thought, it's who he might have been years ago if Voldemort and DUmbledore had never happened. The dinner party was fun, but I think Hermione's plan back-fired on her. Bringing someone else was supposed to send a message to Severus that she wasn't interested, but seems like she got very jealous of his date!I fell in love with Tee too. I have a bad habit of making up OC's that I absolutely fall in love with.

Oh, yes, the dog. Run, Hermione. Don't make eye contact, and for Pete's sake, don't move in! Wait, who am I kidding, of course I don't want her to do those things. That would mess everything up now wouldn't it? Her friends must be so confused about her attitude towards Severus, but at least they had the sense not to involve him in their investigation. What I also love in this story is that typically in fanfic, Hermione is all into Severus, but he is too shy, or thinks himself unworthy or something. But here again, you've turned the tables and the one time Hermione thinks he is a disgusting pig, he thinks he is Mr. smooth operator. Recipe for disaster if I ever saw one, LOL!
Response from magalena (Author of Take a Chance on Love)
Ah yes the dog--I honestly have no idea where he came from, he just wandered into the story (I swear I didn't orginally paln him) he just showed up and made himself right at home. Of course once he got there I realized right away who he belonged to. I glad you appreciate the way everything is turned around. OOC? Yep, but to make the prompt work, that's the way it went. ;)

I love when people write Ron in such a good light. It is not like he is flawless or anything, but he is bashed so often that it is nice to see one where he is not. I rather like the idea of he and Severus being friends, even if it seems unlikely. I love the confrontation in the hall at Malfoy Manor. Stick her feet to her shoes, indeed.
Response from magalena (Author of Take a Chance on Love)
I have been known to write 'bastard' Ron, but do so much like good, true, loyal friend Ron. I've always said I like Ron, just not with Hermione. I'm glad you like the confrontation at the Manor, I was worried because my beta found SS to be scary and stalkerish, which isn't how I meant him to be. Just determined to get the girl.
Response from HBAR (Reviewer)
Well, I agree a bit, but I guess I think that one learns how to deal with crushes and such through trial and error, and I don't suppose he's had much chance for practice, so he is throwing himself in head first, making up for lost time. That's what we'll go with anyway :)

This is all coming back to me as the action unfolds, but it is just as good of a read the second time around. I love the mental image of the Snape-Hermione bar scene. Poor guy!

I loved that scent too, him being so attracted and making a fool of himself, then realizing it was Hermione, and he still doesn't care, just thinks she's magnificent. LOL!

Okay, I must have read this on LJ because it is totally familiar, but yet, I can't seem to remember at all what happens. So, what the heck, I'll give it another read. What I really love here is that as opposed to most other stories, Ron and Harry are all for Snape, and Hermione is violently opposed. Makes for a nice change of pace.

Thanks it was posted at last years sshg_exchange so you probably read it there. And the turnabout of characters was all part of the story. :)
