There’s no such thing as Fate. The simplest acts can take you places you’d never predict. If life is like a game of craps, wrong bettors wager against the roll. Inspired by Wildcat’s Star Trek fic “A Roll of the Dice.” Written and posted with permission.

Reviews for Wrong Bettor
Oh NOOO! Please don't abandon this story, I want to read more!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Oh, thank you for the begging! That's the nicest compliment I've had so far!
No worries, though. There are six chapters more to come (the story itself is completed, in fact), but the next two chapters needed extensive edits to accommodate a request from Sunny33, so I haven't posted them yet. At least one of them will be submitted to the admis by tomorrow.
Oh poor Severus, poor out-of-the-loop-clueless-about-the-numbers-and-extra-Hermiones-and-Severuses, Severus! Too funny!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Yeah. I almost feel sorry for the man. He's learning, though! Thanks for reading. Glad to give a laugh.
HAH! Oh this is fun! I can't wait to read more!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Thanks! I hope you enjoy.
It seems as though Severus actually likes some of the changes that the other Snapes have experienced. I do believe it would be hard for any undaddy to not love their notadaughters when they experience them. The fact that Severus called Violet a Pogrebin though was quite funny! She's not grey or Russian, but she is little and could wear someone down until they felt quite hopeless, I'm sure!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
He does, indeed. You're absolutely right - about him and about Violet (she's half-Hermione and half-Severus, after all!).
Why am I not surprised that it was Molly?
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
LOL. Molly is a formidable witch. And she'll take extraordinary measures to "protect" her kids. I think she's often under-estimated.
I love confused Severus. And The Notebook for all the other Hermiones is great.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Poor confused Severus doesn't love being confused, but he's so much fun to write! I almost didn't ever want to put him out of his misery. Of course, just when he thinks he's got it all figured out... Cruel writer is cruel. Thanks for reading and lett me know you actually like it.
...huh. Okay, lost in fanfic it is!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
lol. It took me a bit to understand what you meant, but, yes, that's almost what Severus thinks is going on. At least, what he believes has been heavily influenced by his reading material.
I'm stuck somewhere between Severus' (singular) ignorance and the Hermiones' (plural) awareness . This story should provide a funny read, please continue.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
If you're in between the two, you're ahead of most readers. Well done! Thanks for reading and reviewing. No worries about the rest; it's already in the queue.
This is starting to sound like that TV program where the hero kept getting bounced around time into different people's lives, only Severus is stuck in fanfic variations of his own. I'm very curious to know how she gets in contact with the other Hermiones. :)
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
LOL. Yes. Someone at another archive made the Quantum Leap comparison. I hadn't thought of that when I started writing ages ago, as I was so wrapped up in Wildcat's fic! (Which is odd because I loved that programme.)As to how Hermione gets in touch with her counterparts -- it's magic! Thanks for the read and the review.
This is so weird, I really like it. It's unusual - and I haven't had unusual for a long time! Can't wait to see what happens.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Thanks, I think.More to comee soon.
Nice. I really want more now. Which means you are doing a great job at catching my attention!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Thank you. I'm glad to have been of service. The next two parts are already with the admins.
Hmm. And they say I'm evil. You leave Sev hanging with no clothes and no IDEA of what's going on! :P
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Ah, but I never claimed to not be evil. This Severus will (start) get(ting) explanations soon enough. But will he listen to those explanations? Or, like a the Severus Snape featured in the (exquisite)!! current WiP of an evil cliff-hanger mad author I shall not name, will he remain blind to the truth until it bludgeons him over the head?
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
Ooh, I like a blindfolded Sev, especially if he's tied up and nekkid and... oops, said too much already.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Oh sweet lord! Now you've tempted me to add one of those— No! Mustn't go there. Promised myself I wouldn't.
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
Aww, go on, just for me? Imagine him waking up like that, already fully aroused and no idea why? ;)
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Hoping this won't spoil, but there's a scene in the second proper chapter* (called "I Hope You Are Telling a Lie" and pretty deep in Administrative hold) where I had him tied up and aroused, but not blindfolded. In the posted version, I've untied him cut most of the scene, but when the chapter is released, perhaps you'll try to guess which scene was the one? And perhaps I'll insert something similar into one of the other chapters. Since you've entertained me so much... *The first proper chapter is currently 14 in the queue, and there were at least 58 stories there last time I checked. So, I've got time to edit in "your" scene.
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
Yummy! Can't wait. :D
Most intriguing! I look forward to more.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Thank you! More to come soon.
...I have no idea what is happening.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Nor does Severus. I hope you'll come along as he finds out. Thanks for reviewing.
Oh boy...interesting. let's see where this leads.Thank you for sharing~

Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Thanks for the read and the review! Severus also wants to know where he's being led. Hopefully, you'll have more fun finding out than he will.
Intriguing beginning, looking forward to the progress of this story. Thank you!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Thanks for reading and reviewing! All will be revealed in tiny doses after a few interesting adventures. The next two chapters are with the admins.
Hehe. I like! :)
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
As you should, since this chapter and the next were re-written just for you. Thanks for the support and encouragement!
I think I'm starting to see a glimmer of light... ;)
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Ah, see? I promise it would eventually start to make sense! Thanks for reading.
In a twisted way it's kind of sweet, how Severus is slowly kind of warming up to the idea of having a daughter who looks like him and appreciates him just for being him. He's never had that from anybody, and all of a sudden he's got this glimpse of what can be if he ever gets back. The other part about it all, is that he's slowly falling for the Hermiones. I think he can sort of see why the other Severus' married and why some of them would welcome having a family with Hermione. It's almost an epiphany for him.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Yes. He's learning, in fits and starts, just what he never had but could have got, only to be snatched away each time he thinks he's learnt something. And Violet... she's like stealth weapon, designed to undermine everything he always believed about families. Thanks for the insightful reviews, 49! (Tee hee. Each time you review, I think of Severus Forty-nine in the story.)
I'm feeling sorry for Sev as much as I'm snickering.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Oh, yes. The poor man. It's certainly funny from our side, but from his... well, it's another story, isn't it? Thanks for reviewing.
I am very confused, but I have to continue. I must know what is going on and I love the banter
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Thank you so much! All really will be revealed. I promise. At least, you'll know as much as Severus knows. The banter is as fun to write as it is to hear. In fact, it's almost as if I'm just taking dictation.
...so very confused!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
All I can say is that it all becomes clear. Eventually. I promise.Thank you for sticking with it despite the current confusion.
If it makes you feel any better, Severus is still mostly confused, as well. In spite of what he's learnt in this chapter (which he's still fervently hoping is part of a nightmare), he really hasn't a clue of what's truly happening.
"Our husband?" Bwah ha ha ha! I'm sure by this point, Severus is desperately hoping he's dreaming.
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
You are 100% correct about that! Poor man. Thanks for reviewing.
Well, I'm confused. I'd bet poor Sev is even more so, you evil author! :P
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
I'll fully admit to being evil, but Severus did actually learn a few things in this chapter. Not nearly enough (just enough to make him feel even worse about the whole thing*, ), but if he knew everything, there'd be no point in me posting the next seven instalments, would there?
Besides, I'd say you know a thing or a thousand about being an evil author! Turnabout is fair play.
*See Severus49's review for this chapter.
Response from sunny33 (Reviewer)
Oh, I'm all for spinning it out. I hate it when a story ends too soon! :)
Poor Severus! Well he now knows there are at least 218 versions of Hermione, and that a great deal of them must be married to him. At least one swings both ways (with Ron of all people, no less!), and at least one has a daughter. Two Hermiones do time travel tests, and all the Snapes and Hermiones seem to all look distinguishable so far. The question is, how does this one get back to his own timespace? The other question is, when does this all stop for him?
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Well done! Full marks for a succinct and accurate summarisation of what there was to be leaned in the chapter. Even Snape would have to give you an O. And you've nailed on the head two of the most important questions of the story! I'm really happy to know you're so completely in line with Severus at this point. Can you guess the third important question? (It's intimately entwined with the second.)
Response from Severus49 (Reviewer)
I have an idea, but I'm going to wait and see if I'm right before I say anything!
Response from TeaOli (Author of Wrong Bettor)
Cosidering how well you've done so far finding me them the plot out, I've no doubt your idea is probably right.
