Reviews for The Scent of Magic
Again, I say: WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The blooming of Luna's lotus at the end was the cherry on top of this fabulous chapter! I can't wait to find out what comes next, not only for Severus and Hermione but also hopefully for Draco and his father. What was Lucius up to? Was he acting the friend or the troublemaker when he gave Hermione that perfume? Or both at the same time?
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
I think with "both at the same time" you've just come up with a very good characterization of Lucius. He's such a Slytherin! But I don't see him as purely evil ...I'm thrilled you liked the revelation of the lotus flower, that's one of my favourite scenes in this story.
WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Must go to next chapter now!

*grins* I'm glad you approve!
GUH. Right now, I want to be Hermione.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
*beams* Hmm... yeah... would be nice, that.
What a revelation!
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
*grins* I'm happy the surprise was a success!
Hermione's stop at the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab stall was amazing to read! And I so enjoyed the reference to Pumblechook--such a greatly hilarious and sweet story itself. Still no wiser to what Lucius is up to, and I agree that his conversation with "Mystery" is suspicious. I do have a bad feeling about Hermione drinking that cocktail at the end of the dinner, though! Guess we'll see...
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
I just adored Pumblechook! :-) And I always feel that hinting at more stories hidden beyond the story I'm telling at the moment makes a story feel much ... bigger. Spacious. I love conveying the idea that there's yet more to tell.*grins* Lucius simply is such a shady character. Lots of fun to write, though!
Your powers of description are truly magical--I sunk into the atmosphere of the May Fair, and saw everything so clearly in my mind's eye. It was a true suspension of reality...when the chapter ended, I found myself leaning intently toward my computer monitor with my chin resting on my hand! What is Lucius up to? And it certainly seems as though Severus is not as unaffected by Hermione as she believes he is... I look forward to finding out how Hermione's journey toward Mastery ends!
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
Oh, thank you for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that I could bring the May Fair to life for you. :-)
That dinner! OMG, I'm hungry now! *applauds*
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
Minus the "scent" courses, I've cooked this dinner more or less. If you want to, I can dig out the link to the recipes!
Response from karelia (Reviewer)
I would love those recipes!
*applauds* You deserve the greatest round of applause for coming up with the idea of the May Fair. Very intriguing, and beautifully written. I was there with Hermione.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
*beams* Thank you for your kind words! I had heaps and heaps of fun writing a truly magical fair. I just wish I had a Portkey to visit it myself!
aww! how lovely. :)
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
Thank you for reading, and even more for taking the time to leave a comment! I'm glad you enjoy the story so far.
Now I understand why Severus frowned at the lotus bowl when Luna gave it to Hermione. Even though he was already a Master, he couldn't see it either. He needed Hermione's love to see it. And she his.I hope we get to know Lucius' true intentions sooner or later. I wouldn't be surprised if he had hoped she would throw herself at an unreceptive Severus, he would send her packing, and she would come to Lucius looking for a job. Beautiful.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
*beams* Exactly! Severus was not quite the Master he thought he was. And Lucius ... hmm... I think he'll always remain an ambiguous character for me.Thank you for reading, and for taking the time to leave a comment!
I love your Draco.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
Draco is such an interesting character! Originally, he wasn't even supposed to BE in this story. LOL!
How sweet! One more chapter?
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
Even two. :-)
And what a way to stop the chapter here. *gasps*

*blush* Thank you so much. The Muses were kind for this one.
Yay!! they're together at last, well sort of, I'll have to see what happens next Chapter.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
I hope you will like whatever happens next!
I'd like to try and claim that I saw that coming, but I would so be lying. Seven chakra, seven chapters, big juicy lemon and a last little bit of exposition? I think I can cope with that ;D
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
*giggles* It seems you have caught me out! Hope you enjoy the last chapter and the epilogue. :-)
awww...come on!! >.< lol amazing. loving the turn out. i would have never guessed! i do love when things turn out for the best. :D
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
:-) I like happy endings, what can I say?
Wow. It amaze me how you created a whole new world with the wonderful descriptions of scents. I can relate to some scenes by bringing back my own personal bank of olfactory experiences. You are a fantastic writer and I am very grateful that you generously share your talent with all of us. Thank you and I'll wait impatiently for updates! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
*I* have to thank you, for spending time with my story and leaving such a kind comment. I'm thrilled you enjoy the new magic I've developed for this story.
This is a magnificent and a fascinating story and very original in its concept. I love that you 'twisted and metamorphed' Hermione's, Severus's, Lucius's and Draco's characters and made them a perfect fit for this story about magical perfumes, journey of self-discovery and ultimately, scents of life - dark, light, happy, sad, intriguing, obvious and oblivious....All those scents....mmmm I love perfumes (mostly French, though, because generally, they are more light and mysterious and just barely there, which leaves a lot to imagination than, for example, their American counterparts, which are much heavier and obvious and have the aura of 'in your face or nose' presence) so this is a very alluring story for me, in which I can easily get lost. I cannot help but yearn for more of this story to read (am I addicted?? why, yes, I believe, I am!) and discover how Hermione attains her journey's end and what Lucius and Miss Tee were planning and when and how will Severus and Hermione, to sound banal, get together...Oh, and I love how your 'voice' is consistent throughout the story ( a lot of authors somehow tend to change their 'voice' mid-story and that often throws me off...)Great job! and please do not abandon this story, I am simply hooked!!
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
Thank you for your kind words! I'm especially happy to hear that my transformations of the characters work for you. It was a wonderful challenge especially to write Severus truly transformed. I hope you enjoy the remaining chapters.
I just wanted to let you know that I am very much caught up in this story. I love the idea of scent as the overriding theme upon which everything else is hung. Its quite beautiful and original.

Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoy the story so far!
this is fantastic! please! you must continue!

awwww, shucks... I'm very happy to help out! And what a gorgeous story this is! It's one I'll happily read over and over again.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
*hugs*
Poor Hermione her longing and need is so palpable. Though Severus' last words have me worried. Waiting eagerly for the next chapter.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
I think they say as much, maybe even more, about himself than about Hermione's choice ...
Very intrigued by the concept of this, your writing in wonderful. I can empathize with Hermione, as far as, not keeping in touch with friends of whom you think will always be as thick as theives, people grow up and change and so does the nature of relationships. Anyway, I'm off to Chapter 2.
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
Thank you for your kind words! It seemed to me that simply growing apart was much more likely to occur than some big drama ... and it's really quite sad enough to lose friendships that way.
Fascinating. The emotional exploration really strikes a note. Not a Hermione or a Snape as we usually see, but a very believable portrait of how they could have turned out. Plus I'm going to be distracted for quite a while with this avenue of research you have presented - a field I've wanted to look into for quite a while, this really is the perfect prompt :D
Response from JunoMagic (Author of The Scent of Magic)
He! I got tired of the usual Snape and Hermione. Writing a truly transformed, but still recognisable Snape, and an obsessed (but not in a sick way) Hermione presented a wonderful challenge. And of course coming up with all that new "scented" magic and alchemy. I had lots of fun writing this story, I hope it will live up to your expectations.
