A lot happened in this chapter, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they get from where they are to where you're taking them.  I can't say I'm sad that Hermione and Ron broke up, but I wonder what the circumstances were?
 
I'm also thinking that maybe Severus has an idea of his healer's identity.  After what she said about her boy friend being her long time friend, perhaps he would be reminded of Hermione Granger.  It almost seems that his choice to go to his private lab, and leave the door open for her, could be a little test to find out if he's on the right track.
