I'm a college student from the Midwest who enjoys fanfiction as a relaxing diversion. I'm a history major who unrepentently ships Snape/Hermione. I knit, cook, write, sing, and sew. I'm a bit of a nerd/dork/geek. I can quote all the Lord of the Rings movies excessively, as well as Firefly.

I love how you immediately capture the atmosphere, situation and speculative relationship... so, he likes her *marked*... and not to conceal... I love dark fics, and the overlooked world they depict... so glad to have found your work!
Very good!!! Congratulations =]
The lines for this particular verse of the song are not "I want you in my room while your baby is sick."The lines are" I want you in my rear window, baby you're sick."

Bad lyrics website, bad! Thanks so much for letting me know, I'll fix it :)
It went from fucked up, to orgy, to marital bliss, to popping out children like rabbits, all in one. I like it.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Thanks! Yes, a bit of a rollercoaster for our pair... but all is well in the end.
Response from vyktorya semenovya (Reviewer)
Of course, because that's how things go, eventually.
Okay so where is the epilogue ?? Getting a bit antsy here waiting for the other shoe to drop. We need a finish! Hurry!!
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
It's in the queue, so be patient. It will be up ASAP! Really! Juuust wait. It will be worth it.
Response from mamabear52 (Reviewer)
Your fault ! If your stories weren't so good, we wouldn't be in such a hurry to read more !lolThanks for the story, and can't wait for more and of course the end of this one. Keep on writing.
Wow. This has gotten so fanfic fluffy and there was hardly a segueway. I'm not sure what to make of this.....
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
The point of the bad romance was not simply to be angsty. It is development as they become more mentally stable, using bdsm as a very peculiar sort of therapy. After the recovery, they still have their problems, but this chapter wasn't the place to put them. They will have arguments in their marriage, just like everyone does. But after all the horrible things they go through, I wanted to depict the good points of their marriage in this chapter.
Geez, get a room you two... five children! And I thought they were smart, the two of them. It is bad odds for the adults to be so outnumbered. Especially with a group of Gryffindor-Slytherin mixes :) This made the last chapter better for me as it went back and filled in the blanks. I am glad that they get their happy ending.“Severus, what are you doing with those handcuffs?” “Making you pregnant.” “Oh. Do continue.” I liked this exchange for two reasons. First, it just made me laugh. Second, it shows that despite their past, they are still able to have fun in the bedroom. Once they decided that all of the abuse was a thing of the past, it could be awkward doing anything that is even slightly deviant (I hate to use that word for something trivial like handcuffs) but they are obviously able to get past that. Good for them. Looking forward to the ending, now that I know it will be happy.

What can I say, Hermione is a sucker for sweet, bright children. And they were both lonely as only children, so they wanted to make sure their children had plenty of companionship. Yes, a good mix- two Gryffindors, a Ravenclaw, and two Slytherins among their offspring. Not too much in-fighting though. Beware the Snapes will become Hogwarts legend (though moreso as a whole than as individuals; Helena and Cordelia are easy going but their siblings will happily avenge their honor). Oh, yes, they get past it. Juuuust wait for the next chapter, it will be our epilogue, and a happy one.
Now, this is the Snape and Hermione that I know and love. I really like the letters, and think that they are quite typical for these two. I did think that this chapter was kind of abrupt following the last one, although the last ended, leaving us with the knowledge that they were starting over with the intention of having a more healthy relationship. I will be interested to see if the upcoming chapters go back and fill in the blanks or what. I was a slacker in reading this, so the next one is already up. Guess I'll go have a look now,
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
After all the trauma they went through, I wanted to show how they could have a somewhat normal relationship. Yet, they needed the abuse first, in order to be able to even have a normal relationship. I thought the dynamic was interesting. I didn't want to cover the in between period- no good way of doing it, and I wanted to shock the reader a bit. Hope you like the next chapter!
I am positively delighted. This is so much fun. And FIVE children!! Wow! I never imagine her to have so much children. And Sev being a big softy with his girls is so cute. I'm sure Scorpius and Helena will make a dashing couple when the time comes. ;)Thank you for this beautiful ending.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Well, Hermione doesn't necessarily go gaga over all kids- but she's very, very fond of her own (and the massive Weasley clan of children). I get annoyed when writers have her completely hate children.I see Sev has being a grump, but... well, they're his daughters. His clever, pretty daughters. Yes, I was hinting at Scorpius and Helena. I may post some snippets about what happens to the Snape children. This is NOT the end however- we have an epilogue coming, and it is going to be STEAMY. I'm so glad you're pleased, I know you were apprehensive about this story in the beginning.
Response from snitchette (Reviewer)
There's another chapter coming!! *squee* Thank you thank you thank you!!! *happy dance*
Well, I hardly know where I am! I feel as though I've been in a terrible fever dream and someone has just poured cold water over me and now I'm..... where the hell? Who ARE these people ??? I was reluctant to start this journey but you've pulled me along brillinatly, and now I'm dazed and confused.... what's transpired to bring us from such darkness into such open affection?
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
That's rather the idea- the two of them have both been suffering horrible psychological damage. Hermione from guilt and the horror of the war, Severus from all his childhood crap, plus the war. Their relationship evolved from both of them being damaged people as they gradually healed through their relationship. This chapter takes place about a month after the last chapter, because I wanted the change to be shocking. Snape won't be turning into a cuddlebunny, I promise, but right now both of them are probably more psychologically sound and more themselves than they have been in years (Snape moreso than he may ever have been, considering how messed up his childhood was).
This is a drastic change in their relationship. Like they are different people. I like that. And please next time could you put a proper warning because I nearly spit my coffee on the screen while reading the color of Lucius' hair. ;)
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Well, like I've been saying, they were both having nervous breakdowns for all the previous chapters. They're sort of returning to their normal selves as they heal now. Sorry, I didn't think about the possibility of your computer being assaulted by coffee :)
I just started this tonight so did not stop to review until now. Let me give the disclaimer upfront, that this is not a negative review, so in case it turns out sounding as such, I don't mean it to be.This is really, really not my thing... at all. But I started it, so I intend to finish. In most cases, I don't feel like I can fully judge a story without having read it in it's entirety. And while I am a bit bothered by the subject matter, it is well written and not so over the top that I can't read it. There are two problems: one is that I don't really understand the whole BDSM thing. It in no way appeals to me, and I can't figure out what it is about it that appeals to anyone, really. But there are a lot of people who like it, so I guess to each his own. I won't judge. The second thing is that I don't seem to have as much of a problem with these scenarios when they occur between a married couple, or even long term partners, because it seems like if they have a good, strong, healthy relationship outside of the bedroom, then it is all just a game. But there is some semblance of safety and equality, even though they play as if one has all of the power and the other is completely submissive. This story has them in an ambiguous relationship of which I can't quite define. Maybe that will be revealed later, and maybe it won't. I will have a hard time assimilating this into a romance even if he is starting to soften up.So in short, I like it and I hate it. But I will continue until the end unless you go super crazy on me. I guess regardless of how I feel about their relationship, or lack thereof, it is best summed up with her last thought:But is it wrong if they both enjoy it? I suppose not.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Thanks for giving such a thoughtful review! I knew when writing this that this really isn't most people's cup of tea. I'm honored that you chose to continue despite your reservations. I'd like to address a couple of your points specifically. I don't really understand the whole BDSM thing... I don't seem to have as much of a problem with these scenarios when they occur between a married couple, or even long term partners, because it seems like if they have a good, strong, healthy relationship outside of the bedroom, then it is all just a game. But there is some semblance of safety and equalityYou've hit the nail on the head. It starts out very badly. He abuses her, and she knows it's abuse, but she wants to be abused. This will be made very clear in chapter 14. The relationship can't sustain itself the way it started out, so it has to evolve. How it evolves will be shown over the next few chapters. I'd like to note that in reality, I don't think people should get into a sexual relatonship before they have a strong emotional bond and trust one another. But fantasy is another matter, and both these people start out the story severely messed up. Their relationship, such as it is, based on pain, is cathartic for both of them. I'm really giving a lot away...please, keep reading, chapter 14 will really explain it all. But I will continue until the end unless you go super crazy on me. Aww, darn. The cyborg death eater sharks in chapter 13 will probably scare you away
Response from HBAR (Reviewer)
Good Grief! If you are going to reveal something as important to the plot as cyborg death eater sharks, you could at least have the courtesy to put a spoiler alert on your response :)Thanks for the encouragement to stick with it, but I have no choice. I am sufficiently intrigued.
*happy dance* He's softening. Thank you so much for the happy days that are ahead.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
There's still a little angst ahead, but yes, things are looking up. I know you've been apprehensive about this fic, so thanks so, so much for reading and reviewing :D
"He fears she is becoming attached. On the rare occasions she is not gagged during sex, she gasps Master"Absolutely stunning! The imagery this simple sentence provokes made the entire chapter for me! Keep up the good work!
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Glad you liked it, and hope you keep reading :)
Still Hot! But drabbles are such a tease
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Oh, I know, that's why they're so fun! Don't worry, after chapter 11 the chapters get much longer.
Hmmmm........Very interesting erotica. I admit that I'm more of a 'BDSM-lite' kinda gal in my personal life, so this is pretty hardcore for me. But I can appreciate good BDSM stuff, and this is very, very good. Not sure where you're planning to take this - atonement has to be fulfilled at some point? I'm now very curious!
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
I usually agree, but sometimes going hardcore can be so delicious. Oh, yes, atonement and healing are major themes (does fanfic get to have themes? Yes, it does :P). Next chapter is in queue :D
What? He's abusive?
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Um, not exactly... keep reading, it will make more sense.
Thanks the bad times are over because this was the worst straw I think. And thanks she was shaved. Because it HURTS there.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Sorry, but yes, worst is over, except for Lucius having a little fashion party later...oh, Lucius. You snob. Next, he puts large silver hoop earrings on her. “Our motif, Severus, will be hoops, circles. Circles have no beginning and no end.” Severus resists the urge to roll his eyes. Chapter 12 shall be...interesting. It isn't as intense as 9, exactly, but it's very much the turning point.
Response from snitchette (Reviewer)
That's a good thing you are updating regularly.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Well, I had a burst of creative energy and wrote the entire story in a week. Since then it's been getting beta'd and then posted through the queue. As soon as one chapter goes up, the next is in queue, and the next is in administrative hold. Glad you like the regular updates :)
A rather difficult chapter to read, to be honest! But it's still true to the dynamics you have set up for them. Well written, as usual. I'm curious about how things are going to play out between them.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Sorry it was difficult for you, but thanks! Don't worry, things are on the up and up.
Very complex! I must say, I laughed about this line: he favors garlic as a flavoring, dispelling rumors of vampirism This continues to be an interesting glance into a very strange relationship.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Well, I can imagine Snape enjoying having bad breath, as it repels people :)Thanks, glad you're enjoying!
Maybe she should spend more nights with him. Sleeping in her arms and feeling safe might prove a very effective remedy againsr his nightmaeres. One never know.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Oh, she will be :DI'm so glad you're keeping with this, and I promise, you will very much enjoy what's coming up.
I'm sticking around because I'm curious and because of your wonderful writing skills. And despite what you said in other reviews I'm still hoping for a happy end.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Thanks so much :) The next few chapters may be a little rough for you, but... well, you'll see
oh... it makes me wonder.. also, it makes me want to be in hermione's place... whatever that is... just to be along with sevvie.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Thanks for reviewing! Next chapter is in queue.
Another tease to send my imagination into overdrive. These have a drabble feel to them, they always leave me wanting more.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
I'm so happy you're enjoying these. Another chapter is in queue. If it makes you feel any better, the later chapters get a bit longer :)
A well done ant enjoyable read. I look forward to your next post, this is on the harsher side, but not uncomfortably so. It does inspire thought.
Response from HermioneJeanSnape (Author of Bad Romance)
Thanks so much! It is rather harsh, and it will get harsher before the end. There's light at the end of the tunnel though, never fear.
