Voldemort is dead. As others around her comb through the bodies and help the wounded, Hermione Granger thinks of only one wizard. A wizard who gave everything and died without anything to show for it, but the lives of those who survived because of him. A wizard who deserved a second chance; something Hermione would go to great lengths to make that happen.

Seriously, Echo is my real first name lol. For those who are actually curious, I was named after Echo Sackett in the 'Sackett Family Series' written by Louis La'mour. My mom wanted to name me 'Jennifer', but my she had already chosen my brother's name and dad insisted. I have to say, growing up, I hated my name. Now I LOVE it. If anything, its a great conversation opener in most situations lol.
Anyways, I have been a member of the HP FanFiction community since I stumbled across it in October of 2006. I had never heard of fan-fiction at that time... the story I found was called 'The Unseemly Proposal' - a Dramione. I thought it would be a waste of my time... but it got me hooked on fan-fiction. December 2006 I posted the first chapter of CHANGES UNFORSEEN, my own Dramione, which was also the FIRST thing I had ever written...(not counting forced essays and such in my school days.) Needless to say its snowballed since then and I have five seemingly popular WIP's that my Wonderful Beta SU has perfected and made into actual read-able stories! Yay for everyone, right? lol.
A SPEACIAL THANK YOU TO EVERYONE (SU!) WHO HELPED ME ACHEIVE 'APRIL 2009 FEATURED STORY'! I LOVE YOU GUYS! *HUGS*
Reviews for The Antidote
I couldn't believe Professor Slughorn took everything from the Potions classroom. LOL!
Except for the sitting room, Severus' quarters were quite luxurious. As Hermione put her clothes in the closet, I found myself wondering right along with her why there were only a few robes left in there. When she opened the lower cabinet doors in the bath and found those phials clean and ready for use, along with another collection phials that had not yet been cleaned, it really hit home why he had surrounded himself with these very nice accoutrements. It was all about healing his wounds so he could get up the next day and be ready to do it all again. He really does deserve a second chance.
His library was a spectacular collection of every book Hermione would need if she was to be able to give him that second chance. I'm glad she could dismantle his wards on the closed bookcase, and I'm sure it won't be much longer until she has her nose in those books and is planning out how to concoct a potion to bring him back to life.
Well done!Beth

Thank you so much for yet another wonderfully thoughtful review! *HUGS*
I loved "Manifestation of Dreams," and I am so excited to be reading this new story. The premise is intriguing, the pace is right, and already I am hooked!
The sadness and loss everyone felt after the battle was enormous, but I was particularly taken by the care and tender mercy that Hermione showed to Severus. The scene was just as I had pictured it in my mind so many times, and when she cleaned up the blood from his person as well as the floor, I felt that she was preparing his body for a worthy burial. However, when she Transfigured that phial and collected the blood and venom from his wound I wanted to stand up and cheer.
When she was talking to Dumbledore's portrait to request that she be allowed to go through the Potions master's belongings I began to see her ideas unfold. I was very happy when Professor McGonagall told her it would be all right for her to do that, and granted her permission for Hermione to stay in Severus' old quarters. At Snape's funeral when she quietly spoke to him telling him, "I’m so sorry, Professor. All I can say is that I’ll do my utmost to give you that second chance," I was delighted.
As usual, Ron can't (or won't) look beyond his own wants, and I was glad that Hermione ignored him when Severus' name was called and she stood to go do for Severus what no one else thought to do. She has always seemed to march to the beat of a different drummer, and I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this story.

Why the disguise? He knows her, she appeared in a closet. There was no one else there. Wouldn't Severus take the antidote from her?
Response from EchoLynn (Author of The Antidote)
Not really, I don't think. Plus she was trying to preserve the future you know? since she was back in time... Thanks for reading!
Such a cruel stopping point. Hopefully your next update will be soon. I'm looking forward to see who you handle the relationship between the characters and any repercussions that Hermoine will have for her actions.

Hurray for plot bunnies! I liked their ease with each other, even with Severus being sharp at times. Hopefully things will go well, and no 'treatments' of any kind will be necessary. Somehow, I doubt it, though.
