“Today, she will come.” This sentence, spoken casually at the dinner table by the headmaster, caused emotional turmoil for Severus Snape.
He rushed out of the hall into the fresh air and inhaled deeply. So it wasn’t a dream; she was real. It had been hard at times to convince himself that the story was true and not just a dream. Only six years to go and she would be his. In the meantime he would have to be a dreaded teacher to her, but he would protect her – even from herself and from him.
With banging doors he entered the hall again and sat down. A rumor went through the elder pupils. He heard whispered words. “Be careful, he’s in a foul mood again…”
Just as he thought about replying casually with: “Ten points from Gryffindor,” the great doors of the hall swung open and Minerva McGonagall shepherded the first years towards the head table.
The Sorting Hat was put on the first years’ heads, and he caught a glimpse of bushy brown hair. Was it her?
“Granger, Hermione!” called Professor McGonagall, and Severus’s heart almost skipped a beat. He carefully schooled his expression, not giving away the joy he felt at that moment.
“Gryffindor!” She emerged smiling from under the hat, and her eyes met his. A bolt of lightning struck through him, but she only saw an imposing black figure.
“It’s her. No doubt!” He felt a rush of gratitude for having chosen to fight for her and his future.
After the long years of waiting, he was certain: tomorrow, the first day of this future would begin.

A really interesting way to use the time-turner.
fantastic tale so cleverly told in so few words. loved it
I feel bad for missing all of those updates. I started reading books so I wasn't coming online like I used to but I am glad to have finished this, I liked it very much, very short and sweet. I like the idea of the Serpent on his headboard of his bed.

Oh I love it when this are so baffling! The locket is a neat bit, I can see that being very handy.
Nice way to end it. Confirming that he's held on so long to find it's true and then knowing he's only got the next 6 years to go through 'til he starts / continues his relationship with her... I know it can be taken the wrong way, but it's better you ended it this way instead of starting from this point. ;) Well done!

This part of time turner stories always a strange feeling in me. I can't help but think Snape an old pervert lusting after an 11 year old girl. I don't mind the age difference but NOT until she's 16 or 17. I know writers don't think like that (fortunately) but there's still that strange feeling. So I'm curious as how you'll proceed.
Oh, my. At least he can be hopeful.
Finally Severus knows what he has fought for and waited so long for is right there before him. How wonderful it must have been for him to see her looking into his eyes after her sorting. Only six more years and all his wished will come true.

This is a nice insight into Husband!Snape and his love for Hermione. And he knows there will be another baby to keep Sebastian company.
Thank you for this look at Hermione' and Severus' family life in the present. Seeing how happy they are and hearing Severus say that “Yes, everything will be alright,” made me smile. But I know that Past!Snape is having a hard time without his Hermione.
