Dirty little missing scene, featuring Severus Snape, Remus Lupin, and the Room of Requirement. This takes place sometime during book three.

Reviews for The Smell of Hay and Leather
I've only recently discovered you and find your stories brilliant; which is probably why I took the risk in reading this, as I don't usually like anything to do with violence. This, though, is outstanding; thanks for the warning but it made so much sense at the end. The contrast between the two men, and between the beauty and serenity of their surroundings against the dark of their actions, Severus' needs and the pain (emotional as much as physical) was outstandingly effective and evocative. I felt so strongly for the both of them, pain and pleasure and psychological need and, oh, so much love. This resonated with me in a way I never expected. Loved it, thanks x

Your review just sent shivers down my back :-)Thank you so much for reading this story. It was one of the first darker ones I wrote, and the very first that contained pain. I like it, but always was well aware it wouldn't find many readers. So many thanks to read, and despite the warning. And even more thanks for the beautiful review!
Wow, that was a different approach. Liked it a lot!

Thank you so much! I hoped this story would get a few reviews despite the slash, and despite the brutality of the story. In the end, it is about love, as always.

Thank you for the A/N indicating that this was probably not really as non-con as it appeared. Poor Snape, and especially the 'lovesick fool' that is Remus, giving Snape what he needs and not what Remus wants to give him. In some ways, an interesting mirror-image of dovielr's Staffroom Seduction. Very good.

I once made the mistake not to warn my readers of what to expect. Therefore the warning ;-) And as I didn't warn of non-con, I needed an explanation anyway. Thanks for the lovely review - this is exactly how I wanted to portray the both of them. Could you give me a link to Staffroom Seduction? I didn't find it here at the Poetess, but would be interested in reading it. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! that was a great story. I'm very glad I didn't miss it, thanks to your warning at the beginning: the end showed a Lupin that was completely in character, soft-hearted self-denial and all. I felt so sorry for him that I caught myself wishing Snape to change his mind and fall in love with him after all.

As I wanted this story to be canon compliant (and because it takes place in book three, not seven), I couldn't let that happen. But I will write a sequel to it. It is rare that I don't give Snape a happy ending ;-)Thanks a lot for reviewing!

Wow, this is good. The sensory impressions are spot-on vivid, as is the psychological explanation at the end.

Thank you so much! I wrote this story in one go and only smoothend the rough spots later. I wanted the contrast between the beauty of the barn and the brutality of the sex to be clearly visible, and it seems I made it.Thanks for reviewing!

That was so much more about control, need, and love, than about the sex. Awesome!

Thank you so very much! And I agree with you - it very certainly was about love.

GAWDS!!!! This is such a great story--I just love love the premise of this. It is so different and I think one of your most well written ones. And I am not being biased because I helped you with it, but because I strongly believe in this story. I am so happy to finally see it on here! Love Shell

Snupin ... mmmmmm. Nothing like a bit o' good smut to end my day and to ease my mind.I found myself relating to Snape very much in the beginning: "Yes. It had been a lousy week. After many other lousy weeks, Snape needed distraction, and after having tried to fight it for the better part of the evening, he finally left his rooms and the dungeons in order to find someone to kill, to torture, to scold..." Yup. That's just about how I'm feeling lately. I must be feeling it pretty loudly for you to channel it. :D

Goodness, dear, I am so very sorry you had a bad time, lately! I hope you didn't use the Cruciatus Curse on someone? Actually, I hope there is a similarity of the quiet barn for you somewhere out there, and someone who can rid you of your tension. Naturally, without hurting you ;-)Hugs from Germany dear, and many, many thanks for reviewing!

This story drew me in right from the beginning. At first glance, Remus's brutality seems very much out of character. In fact, about half-way through the story, I was thinking that Remus wasn't actually there, but that the ROR had supplied a doppelganger. The conversation between them at the end explains everything convincingly. When all is said and done, this really is a love story.I adore the Remus/Severus pairing and you did an awesome job with this.
Response from chivalric (Author of The Smell of Hay and Leather)
I thought I should warn people that he acts OOC at first sight. A doppelganger - interesting thought, really! Thanks for reading and reviewing this rather brutal fic. Would you be interested to beta a Lupin/Snape fic for me? If yes, just contact me.

Oh, this is just terrific!:)(:Very well done, and so IC!

Thank you so very much! I hoped I would manage to have them both IC although the stoy suggests things the other way round. Unfortunately, there will be more Snupin to come ;-)Thanks a lot for reviewing!

I don't read all that much Snupin, and I'm starting to think it's a real shame because I miss out on excellent opportunities like this story. I miss the chance to see our beloved Severus get some of the comfort that he needs during the peak of the 2nd war. Thanks for an excellent story.
Response from chivalric (Author of The Smell of Hay and Leather)
Thank you so much for reading this although it is Snupin. After trying Snape/Lucius, I found I really think that Snape and Lupin are the perfect match when it comes to slash. They are so very different, so much like day and night... I couldn't help writing the story. And many thanks for reviewing!
