It's a good thing that Albus is already dead, and a fictional character, that's all I can say! He'd be lucky to get away with just a lynching the way I feel after what he said about Snape!  Poor Severus! But I'm sure Hermione'll take good care of him. Looking forward to the next!

I always knew Minerva and Severus were freinds, good friends.  From one of the early books, when she said Gryffidor hadn't won the quidditch cup in such-and -so years, "as Professor Snape kindly reminded me,"  I KNEW they were good freinds.  I'm glad to see such a promising start to a story.  thank you for sharing this.

Albus coming right out and saying Snape was "a bad lot." Hm. Interesting. We rarely hear Albus's real opinion of Snape, we must conjecture, even in fanfic. It's as if we're almost afraid to know the answer. We want to pretend that he had some affection for the man. Well, looks like you won't be going that route, eh?

Interesting set-up, and I feel really awful for Snape. Look forward to more.

Author's Response: Personally, I don't think Albus had any affection for anyone - everyone was just a pawn on his own personal chessboard.  I'm also taking the opinion that as the portraits are there to offer the incumbent Head advice, they can't be quite as shifty as they were in life.

I hope there will be more of this. I love the first chapter!  I loved that Severus had the courrage to ask for a job he is highly qualified for and for facing his old demons! I also loved how Minerva (even in her portrait) had no illusions on how Albus manipulated and used Severus! I really, really look forward to read more, not to mentioni the secret about the garden, could it be that even the castle knows that Severus needed someplace that was only his, and that the castle protected that spot for him? Update again soon, I really want to read more!

Really enjoying this. It doesn't seem so much like a set of drabbles on each page as it does a continuous chapter, I suspect due to your writing style. I like it that each drabble doesn't jump way ahead or to another subject - just a flowing story. And I still love the way Severus is recognized as Headmaster, and as Head of House by Hogwarts. :) Honeslty, making a Gryffindor the Head of Slytherin seems like blasphemy to me - I think the Headmistress' good intentions outweighed her good judgement on that one. And not using the sorting hat?? I know she wants inter-house unity, but just as Severus pointed out to the reader, there are traits that mark one to their House. I hope Hermione doesn't mess with those traditions in the end.

Interesting start. It's not too often you see a down-on-his-luck Snape when it comes to him leaving Hogwarts - he's typically very successful of course.  And this garden... I assume it's linked to him somehow? Maybe his own personal potions ingredient garden?? Guess I'll see when the time comes. :)

Oh, so Salazar was put in exile? Why? And Slytherin tower doesn't recognize Gary Burbage? Hmmm. Interesting.

I wish Sev would buck up and make a move on Hermione. He wants her - and should at least try something!
