Poppy seems to be the only person in Severus' life who has taken the time to get to know him well, and deal with him in a way that maintains his self-respect . Even Minerva plays the seniority card at times, and certainly didn't treat him well as a child.

That is very true, I wanted to show that Severus had at least one person in his corner during his very troubled life. At least one person who has witnessed the effects of his ongoing trauma. Thank you so much for the reviews!

I'm consistently impressed by the vivid atmosphere and visual detail in this story -- Snape's nosebleed morphing into his "bad blood will out" line was incredibly creepy and heartrending at the same time. I'm with Lupin, though -- what is going on? It seems that Hermione has tripped some kind of destructive circuit here -- the sense of foreboding you're painting is very strong. Have a heart and release some tension soon, pretty please?

LOL, yes, I've created quite a mess! I promise that answers are coming! This week is a busy one for me: three doctors appointments, my birthday, and my husband has taken a week of vacation to stay home with me, so I'm afraid I won't be writing much until the 27th of May or so. So it may be a few weeks until a new chapter has been posted, so please stay tuned! yikes! severus needs to get a grip before someone ends up dead. he seems so beyond reach in this chapter, it has me a little worried. but only a little, as i have faith in the persistence of certain gryffindors (and maybe a slytherin?), in the hands of a certain writer. ; )
