Severus has always believed that, if you love someone, you must promise them the moon, and deliver it. How do you wrestle that moon to the ground?

Hi Teddy.....I can understand why Severus would go to Lucius first but very relieved that he was not too proud to go to Harry. My poor Mum has just suffered a stroke and I'm having to travel a round trip of 140 miles to see her in Lancaster hospital at the moment. She is not too bad and lives in a care home up there but it's quite a stressful time as you can imagine. She will have a long and limited recovery. But like Severus and Hermione we must try and be positive and you are dealing with this subject matter with a great deal of sympathy and sensitivity. I will look forward to your weekly updates my dear and am greatly anticipating Remus's contribution to their lives.Best wishes, Love Ali xxxx

Ali, I am so sorry to hear about your Mum's health scare. Please pass on my wishes for a speedy and complete recovery. Thank you for taking the time in what sounds like a very tough schedule to talk to me. I hope that my story can give you a little escape and a respite. You will be in my thoughts and I send my love to you and your dear family.Love, Teddy

My heart really goes out to Severus in this chapter. The lonelyness of being the one nursing Hermione - his dispair, fears, etc. - combined with his distrust in the fact, that anyone might want to help him, is heart-wrenching. I had a tear running down my cheek when Severus confessed his fears. Being the one gravely ill is bad, but being the one left behind to nurse, uncapable of doing anything but worrying, is unspeakably hard.I'm looking forward to the rest of the story. I think Severus has some fights to fight, and I have a sense that they wont be pretty.

Thank you so much for your kind words. Illness is a terrible thing for both parties, and it takes a lot of bravery I'm not sure I have. I really hope you will enjoy the rest of the story.

This is such a lovely chapter, Teddy. It's the perfect example of working hard, giving and receiving help, and passing it on. You've really touched my heart, dear. Well done!Beth

Thank you so much, Beffey dear. People like Severus give so much, they sometimes forget that it's okay to receive. In canon, he gave himself away. I keep writing SSHG because I really do want to give something back to him.

I was wondering where Harry was, Severus can be Stubborn, can't he, but he saw sense in the end. If anyone can find a way to lasso the moon, Severus will.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Snow Turns The World Deaf)
Thank you so much! Yes, he can be stubborn, but you're right - he is the one man on earth I trust to do whatever it takes to get that moon wrestled to the ground.

Oh, Teddy, another night of teary eyes. This was lovely. I, too, have always thought that if James and Sirius were not in the picture, Remus and Severus could have been friends. I've also always contended that Hermione was the sort of girl who could be the peacekeeper between all of her friends. That she could wear Harry and Severus down so that they would do more than just tolerate one another. What absolute love and respect these men have for her! The moments between Remus and Severus, and Harry and Severus were touching. I have to say that I don't have a clue where we go from here. At all. So, don't be a stranger too long, you hear? I need a regular fix, and your fics are my drug of choice. *begins to shake already*

Oh, thank you so much. You have so hit the nail on the head as what I was trying to convey - that even though she is not technically 'in shot' throughout most of these first couple of chapters, she is such an influence on all the men involved here. The story is done, and I will be posting each week without fail.I also have a new chapter of Lay Me Low coming soon as well - sheesh, I really need to get it caught up here as well!Thank you again for always making me feel so special as a writer. It means more than I can say. I promise I won't leave you hanging long! ;)

Well, what a choice! The cracking whip is a definite motivator ;) but chocolate also works!! ;)As soon as Jules is done with it, I'll get it all up here.

I so look forard to your stories. This one looks to be a great one. Loved Poter makeing Severous see reason as to what friendship means, it seems he learned his lessons well. I can't wait to see how he gives her the moon ( might it be a cure for Lupin).

My father and mother renewed and indulged in their love after my mother's cancer diagnosis. She was lucky enough to die knowing that she was deeply loved by him and her family. This is marvelous...bittersweet for those of us who lived this life for awhile. Brava, Teddy, brava.

My mother said some of the most life-affirming and love-affirming moments she and my dad shared were during those last days. I'm so glad your mother had that knowledge. We all want to just lasso that moon down for our loved ones, I think. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments.

A new Teddy story!!!! Wonderful, you make a girl so happy when she is recovering from surgery!!! What a wonderful beggining. You have such a gift, your characters are always as they should be (in character) you have the ability to expand on what J.K. has given without warping the essence of personality. You give such wonderful visulation that I can close my eyes and see the scene. Now as happy as you have made me with a new story, why did you have to make me cry in the first chapter? Patiently waiting with bated breath for a new chapter!...and maybe some day you will revisit "Lay me Low"?

I've liked some of your other stories but I'm not buying this one so much. I'm guessing you're not from a country with universal health care like the UK, because you don't have to pay for necessary treatments and finances aren't really an issue. I live in Canada and our health care system is definitely worse then the UKs but having lived through a relative with cancer, I can say from experience the costs are minimal comparatively. Biggest set back is the lack of income from the sick person, b/c obviously they're not working anymore. But even then you'll get disability... Anyway I guess just knowing that treatments wouldnt cost anything in the UK really took a lot out of this chapter... Ur from the states right? Don't you wish you had universal health care? Side note, despite the lack of relavent expenses in this case, I find it somewhat jarring to be thinking about money when someone's life is at stake even though I understand the reality for some people. So glad we have universal health care, don't even care about higher taxes...
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Snow Turns The World Deaf)
While I appreciate you do have universal health care in Canada, I lived in the UK for 10 years and I'm married to a Brit. I think I'm perfectly qualified to write about this issue, having had quite alot of experience with the National Health Service regarding my own health.Yes, you are very lucky not to have to worry about money when it comes to healthcare. Some are not so lucky, even in the UK, where the waiting lists can be months, even years long on the NHS. You can go private there, and it is very expensive (You might want to look up BUPA, it will fill you in).So yes, you don't have to think about money when someone's life is at stake. Others aren't as lucky as you, even in the UK, when time is against them, and my heart goes out to them, because they sometimes don't have a choice. And a person's lack of income during illness is a terrifying prospect. Disability rarely covers things, not to mention the mental anguish of feeling disconnected, helpless and anxious for the future.I understand both sides of the coin, having lived in both countries, so naturally, I can empathise with a plight such as theirs. I suppose it's easy to be blase about money issues when you don't have any, but I know better. But do thanks for stopping by and trying my story!
Response from djectedfrench (Reviewer)
I hear what you're saying. But I lived in England for 3 years and I have british citizenship there as well. I'm not saying you're not qualified to write on the issue either. My point with the review was that you didn't address the universal health care system and described paying for treatments, which to me seemed like a whole in the plot. Not to get technical but when you left out the fact that most bristish citizens would be using universal health it just left something to be desired, in my opinion. I personally immediately read it and asked myself, 'Doesn't the UK still have health care?' Also having dealt with the health care system a few times, I've always felt that it was minor stuff that would cause serious wait lists. So for example if you have a heart attack and need open heart surgery, if you're at a hospital, you'll get it. However if you have a dubious rash that is mildly irratating be prepared to wait and pay for your specialist visit. Anyway, neither here nor there, because my main point is that you never addressed it. You're writing about how they sell all sorts of things to pay for treatments but don't mention what universal health care covers? To me its' not just the reality of whether they're using private health care or not but rather that neither of those systems are mentioned. Not to offend, but it takes away from the realism.

I know you probably won't take this very well but I obviously really like your writing and stories in general otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to write these stupid long-winded reviews. Ps:for some reason i have trouble making paragraphs in the little review box, so sorry this is tough to read.

Lovely, lovely, start. Heavy on the angst, but you write angst so brilliantly.I loved Hermione's persistence in visiting him, despite the insults he continually threw at her. Even at this stage in the game, she knew him pretty well and could see past the derrogatory comments.I'm curious to see how you incorporate Remus into the story. Firstly, it's lovely to see you back
We know Hermione will survive, but that does not lessen the pain we see Severus going through.
As someone who has seen both sides, having nursed my mother through cancer, and a few years later going through treatment myself, I would say that watching someone you love suffer, and being unable to do anything is worse.

My God, this was a painful read. You've described Severus' emotions so perfectly: raw and brave and fierce and relentless and very much Snape. And Hermione is courageous in her own way— head up, shoulders back, her Gryffindor courage firmly in her grip.I especially loved this: They were two people for whom loyalty and courage were as important to a marriage as desire and duty.Beth

This is nothing like I was anticipating, but I can tell from this much that it is going to be fantastic. I like the concept that everyone is the same at night under the cover of dark. Isn't that true, when you really think about it?I loved Severus' insults to Hermione, made even funnier by the fact that she didn't take any of them to heart. Made even funnier by the fact that he ended up married to her.I have to wonder how Lupin plays into all of this. He is a character that can be used in so many ways, and I leave him in your capable hands.Teddy, as I sat trying to process this story so far, tears in my eyes, I realized what I love about you. You take me to these horrible places emotionally, and then convince me there is nowhere else I'd rather be. I'm terribly thrilled to begin this journey with you.

It's a good thing Severus trained Hermione to be stubborn, for it's that stubborness that will help both of them during the ordeals they're both facing. To go through so much, find happiness and then face the threat of its disappearance, Severus has grown to understand that there are always options to explore.Just what Remus can offer will no dout be explained along the way, and it promises to be an interesting and deeply personal journey for all of them no doubt. :)
