Severus has always believed that, if you love someone, you must promise them the moon, and deliver it. How do you wrestle that moon to the ground?

Reviews for Snow Turns The World Deaf
While I prefer there to be a relationship basis for characters who are having sex, I prefer things a little more down and dirty, than lovey and emotional. So, the fact that I was feeling all gooey and content at the chapter's end bodes well for your writing and character development. It was then that Severus realised, for the first time in his life that love truly stretched and expanded to fill the spaces provided. Like water, it found all the cracks and crevices, and there was an unlimited supply. Hermione would make love with Remus tonight, but she would love her husband with the same blissful, adoring abandon tomorrow.I love that concept and realization on Severus' part. Perhaps Hermione and Remus were already aware.Something that struck me in this chapter was that there was almost a sense that they hadn't entirely convinced themselves that this is okay. The holding of hands, the whispered reassurances ... or perhaps the situation is so overwhelming that they need to ground themselves through one another. Regardless, by the end, there is no doubt how right this all was for the three. I wonder if they will continue on together, or if this was just a brief moment of love amongst friends.“If you are going to cry, Lupin, kindly go to the loo,” Severus growled, but they all laughed. No more perfect way to break the spell of what just happened. I'm confident they'll get a happy ending, I'm just not certain how that is going to play out. I can't wait to find out.

Thank you so much! This was the toughest thing I have ever written; but to me writing sex needs an emotional connection - I can't write a casual sex scene to save my life! ;)I think the reason they were so apprehensive was that I was. I am a very insecure person; in a triangle, I immediately see myself as the lowest point. It would be difficult for me to be in a three-way, even with two other men, and especially so if they were attracted to one another.
This chapter was so beautiful. I do not usualy read slash stories but this chapter was outstanding.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Snow Turns The World Deaf)
Thank you! I usually don't write slash stories but my editor and beta stgulik asked me to, so I thought I'd give it a try.
Hells bells Teddy. I mean it's not as if it's hot enough here in t'frozen north as it is. 30+ degrees celsius we are hitting at the moment. The hot tub is too hot. I mean what lass wouldn't want to be the filling in a Remus/Sev butty? Mind you I'm not sure Sev was too enthusiastic about taking it like a man as it were. This was written beautifully so I hope their relationship will be permanent. They all deserve happiness. Best wishes, Love... a very heat-induced grumpy Ali xxxx.

I usually don't get into slash but you write it so beautifully that it appeals to me. This has been a wonderful story so far and I can't wait til the next update.

The fact that Severus can laugh along with the others and enjoy Hermione's friends all laughing and joking together, is a testament to how she has brought him out of his hard carapace. The look of abject adoration and tenderness from Remus towards both Hermione and Severus could have been viewed as jealousy by Severus, but instead it's curiousity and unspoken words that echo so strongly - from both of them.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Snow Turns The World Deaf)
I think you are right - when you almost lose someone to illness, you realise you don't have room in your heart for jealousy or doubt. You just have to take each day and live it to the max.

This chapter is filled to overflowing with love and acceptance. I feel all warm and fuzzy inside as I think about the sentiments expressed by each person at the party. The most stirring are the ones between Severus and Hermione, but Remus' are a close second. I find myself wondering if there is any chance that his wife and child might someday want to comeback to him. The last thing he said in the previous chapter continues to resonate in my mind: “At the time, I thought it was the right thing to do to let them go, that perhaps they would be better off without me. It didn’t occur to me how much worse off I’d be without them.” That is so like Remus to put his thoughts for himself behind what he believes to be what is in someone else's best interest. I do hope he will be able to reunite with Tonks and Teddy, or at least with Teddy. One wonders... what do you have in mind for these kind hearted warriors? Beth

Thank you so much, Beth! You are such an angel. We are exactly half way throught the story now, and a lot of things will happen in the next two chapters that will answer many questions. I hope you will continue to enjoy the story.

Oh, Teddy, this is perhaps my favorite chapter so far. The banter between friends (or whatever Severus would like to call them!) is so much fun without being out of character. And you've said this story is about love, and that really shines in this chapter. Hermione is surrounded by friends, and you can just tell from the dynamic of the group that they are all very close. And even though they've included Severus in the group, you know there are other places he'd rather be, yet he surrounds himself with them because it makes his wife happy. At the end of the chapter, their declarations to one another are just wonderful. I can only imagine that they are even more loving since her brush with death. That tends to put things in perspective. But what I really loved was Remus. He clearly has feelings for these two, but if they run deeper than friendship, it seems that he would not ever cross that line. Unless invited, I suspect. And, kudos to Severus for seeing the looks that Remus gives his wife, and not feeling jealous or insecure. They are all written very subtle and mature in this story, and it gives the whole things such a gentle feeling. I am simply loving this!

Thank you so much! I am thrilled that these chapters are touching you in this way. You always make me feel so wonderful, and to know that this has made you this happy is such a joy to me.This story is a prime example of the Muse at work. Sometimes when I read it, I barely remember writing these lines, because I truly was taking dictation at the time.I have a very loving and general Muse, who tends to pet and indulge me very much. I truly believe these stories of love and friendship are his little reminders of his love for me.

Each chapter is building the story so well!! Good friends,no animosity between said friends (except in Severus' head). Wondering about Remus now...platonic love coming in waves off of him or not? I find myself hanging by my fingernails....the ?'s whirling around in my brain.

This was such a beautiful chapter. I love the sentiment "I would do anything for you" in the context of this story: after their shared ordeal, it makes so much sense. It just makes me think that when certain challenges happen in life, a new perspective is reached about what is really worthwhile - is love a convention or is it boundless? Rhetorical question lol because here, to me, it becomes boundless. I feel like their sentiments are suffusing me.

It would have been longer, but whenever I hit the space bar, it kept sending me back to the beginning of the paragraph. :) I wanted you to know that I can totally feel the affection of the friends and the love of the main characters.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Snow Turns The World Deaf)
{{{Hugs}}} Thank you sweetie! That's exactly what I was hoping for - that blanket feeling of care and love between all these people, like snow blanketing the world and shutting everything else out. When I first started putting my fics here, when I wold respond to a review and hit the enter key, it would do the same thing. I had to write my entire reply, then put the paragraph breaks in afterward. They seem to have fixed that bug, but now it sounds like they have another one.

Good. I'm glad that the Potter/Black money could be put to use. Harry does owe both of them. BTW, I like your Harry. He seems like the Harry I always pictured him growing up to be. I love that he's still friends with Hermione. I don't like to think of them drifting apart as the years go by.. they've been through too much.Hell, who WOULDN"T be randy with Snape in her bed???Oh, and I'm glad Remus found stable employment.:D

Thank you sweetie! I like portraying Harry as a fairly stable guy...but I do have a short story in the works which...but I digress! ;)

Awww.. your Remus is a good man. Doesn't he ever get to see Teddy?I can't promise I'll make it til the end, but I can tell you that I'm really enjoying this, so far. It's melancholy, but lovely.

The pathos invoked in these chapters is just riveting and it is (for me) literally oozing out the sides of the screen. Whilst they are celebrating Hermione's remission, it feels very much as though I'm waiting for the other shoe to fall. Remus' despair at losing Tonks and Teddy due to the vagaries of war, and the fact that while they were so busy fighting to be free, they forgot to live all at the same time.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. To be honest, I had been working on re-editing Her Minder for so long, that when I started Snow, I was unsure that I was even capable of writing anything any more. The story literally poured from my Muse to me in a matter of hours, and I was so afraid it wouldn't be any good. The lovely comments I've received for it have been such a confidence booster, because all the things I had so hoped to convey are the things that wonderful readers like you mention, and that is the most gratifying thing in the world to me. Thank you so much.

I think it can be very cathartic to just simply pour out the words and see what happens. There the times when, almost without realising it, we (collectively) find the true words we usually stumble around. The elephant in the room as it were. Cancer, the vile disease that corrupts in so many different manifestations. This is a really hard slog to read, but then I'm of the opinion that the voices that need to be heard most loudly, usually are the ones that stay long after the metaphorical ink is dry. I tend to think we all get so caught up in the nuances of what defines writing and our perceptions of those rules, that peeling away those restrictions often means we encounter something far more challenging and rewarding.

The party must be miserable for Severus, and yet it is just one more thing that he is doing for her because he loves her. And that she knew he would need a friend or else he'd hideaway for the duration shows how very close they are.I was thinking that what Remus is doing for them is such a selfless act, and is almost a bigger gesture than what Severus is doing for Hermione. Because Severus is so in love with her that he would do anything in his power to keep her happy and healthy. Remus is just acting as a friend, and therefore, would not be expected to have such stock in the situation, even though he cares for them both. And, I think that is all true, but in the end, it occurs to me that Remus needs them just as much as they need him. He probably gets whatever he is lacking from the loss of his wife and son from helping the Snapes. So, everyone wins, and that is the best thing of all.I do hope we have a happy ending here. This could end up very tragic, but I don't think you'd do that. You are very good at angst and drama and horrible things happening to characters throughout, but I think you require a happy ending for these two. You may prove me wrong at some point, but I hope it isn't here. Still, I feel better knowing that if something did happen to Hernione, that Severus wouldn't be alone.Perhaps after he serves his purpose here, and gets and gives what he needs to in this relationship, he will be movivated and/or enabled to reconnect with his family. Time will tell. But hopefully not too much time *looks at you with puppy dog eyes*

No, I promise that this will be posted regularly! I promised Jules I would update each Monday, and I promise you I will as well. This is a romance, and while that doesn't really tell you anything in and of itself, I will just say that I am not the type of person who likes to invest their heart for any length of time into a romance and not want to see it resolved happily. So you can take of that what you will ;)Jules asked me to write a story about love, and how it blankets everything regardless of the situation, just as snow blankets everything.Thank you as always for giving me the best comments.

You depict the strength of shared compassion and comfort so well here, especially with the inclusion of Remus' story: while he is doing what he can for Severus and Hermione, he is also obtaining something valuable in return, at least prospectively: when we connect to others with loving intent, it's symbiotic, so despite the loss of Nymphadora and Teddy, helping Hermione and Severus gives Remus the chance to re-bond and feel connected with others (and I specifically like the way you infer this through Severus' perspective and how he is slowly changing in attitude and appreciation of the other man). I suppose what I mean is that all three of them are dealing with a kind of loss or fear of loss, and they are all doing their best to support each other, together and for one another. Overall, and as others have said, your portrayal of emotions is deeply moving! I’m enjoying this story very much.

You are spot on with the emotions here. We all tend to treat someone with cancer as fragile and then blather on stupidly with over trite 'think positive' speeches. I know a couple from church whose daughter has Batten's Disease. Their daughter will die, no ifs, ands, or buts. She blogs, and her honesty is heartbreaking. Instead of 'we're thinking positively' or 'we're doing fine', she just puts it out there...they are angry, jealous, whatever adjective you can use to describe their heartache/break. You've got that here. It's perfect.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Snow Turns The World Deaf)
Thank you so much. I admire your friend's courage. I think you have to push through denial and anger until you reach acceptance. It is the hardest journey we must take, and we have to take it alone. No one can walk that Lonesome Valley with us. When my father was dying, he cursed and cried and was so angry and bitter. Then one day he just accepted, and he was so peaceful when he passed - literally with a smile on his face. You don't have to go gently into that dark night, but you do have to go.

Now I'm really crying, the last thing my fiance's grandmother said to John and I the year before she passed from cancer was 'take care of one another'. Literally those were her exact words. This fic is different than any I've ever read and truly endearing to me on more than one level, and I can't thank you enough for taking the time to write it.

Thank you, sweetie, so, so very much. I have been totally blown away with the level of feeling and love this fic is being given. In my wildest dreams I never thought it would make this impact. I think it strikes a chord in everyone who has taken care of someone they loved, knowing how much they are loved in return."Take care of one another." It is almost the EXACT same thing my father said to the Hubs and I the last time I saw him alive. I will never forget that. Even in pain and dying, our loved ones still want us to come first.
