I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.

Ah Rita Skeeter at her worse again, will she never leave Hermione alone. I did enjoy Hermionie's reaction to Rita's rant. I do wonder what their reaction will be to Kingsley though, not good at first I'm sure. Should be an interesting next chapter can't wait. Up date soon please.

I really loved the way Hermione pointed out that even though Severus' friends had turned to the Dark, that they had still been his friends at one point and that he would mourn their loss. Hardly any other story I've read addresses the fact that Severus lost friends in the wars, too.

Yes, I've noticed that as well. When I was writing an older fic of mine, "Hurt", I really paid attention to the relatioships Snape had with his fellow Slytherins. There had to have been a lot a pain to see the boys become the men they did and have to go through betraying them, killing them, seeing them off the Azkaban. As if there wasn't enough regret to go around, eh?Thanks for reviewing!

Aw I love how their grief is being shared and that Severus is there to comfort Hermione. I also like how he is inching his way to being attracted to her. Great chapter looking forward to more!

I think the story was a bit rushed. The parts with Kingsley you handled very well. The interactions between Snape and Hermione seem strange based on all that just happened. I doubt Hermione would even smile for a year or two. Obviously you didn't want to wring this out and make it the angstiest (is that even a word?) fic out there but I think you need to slow the pace down a bit. Why are they flirting with one another? I think I'd like to see some more time go by before they discover their affinity for one another. I think the writing itself is very good and I will continue to read because I like your unique premise. I only can hope for a bit more work on the character and relationship development.

Sometimes how we think we will respond and what we actually do can be two different things. The knowledge that they are the only ones that can fully understand what they have experienced can rush a relationship that normally one would think would take a while. Their lives have been uprooted so violently that sometimes you have to laugh otherwise you might lose your mind. It's like how some people make love after a funeral of a loved one to reafirm life, for example. (I, of course only can take this from my own personal life experience where I was in a position where my life was completely decimated and violated in every sense and found myself at times laughing uncontrollably when something wasn't really that funny, or throwing myself into work to hide from my feelings). I am glad you will read more, for the laughter of this chapter will not set the precedent for the next chapters. There will be more tears and pain. Sometimes things don't really hit you fully until much later, they are still in some shock.True, though, I didn't want to get bogged down too much into the grief and angst. I hope the next chapter, "All that's left" will give you more of the reality you are looking for in terms of grief, sorrow, and loss.I do appreciate your insights and honesty. Please let me know how you think the story is progressing! Thanks,Livvy

Wow. What a terrible vision. It's a sight more realistic than what happened in JK's vision. I think you've done a remarkable job with this first chapter. I'm intrigued to watch the rebuilding of that world and of course, see our sole survivors interact. =) Thank you also for the link to the story. I'm glad I haven't missed it!

I saved up your last three chapters, snuggled down last night with a cup of tea and indulged. I loved each new chapter! Hermione's grief is painful yet gently described, the scene in Ginnys room was heartbreaking. The idea of Snape being someone to feel safe with is a lovely notion for both of them. Especially given that in the past how ever many years, I dare say no one has ever wished to touch Snape, never mind cling to him. It's a different take on their relationship compared to many authors who assume Severus will be cruel or prefer a stong Hermione. I would normally agree with them to an extent but for this story he works brilliantly and is not too comforting...well yet ;) hee hee!Thank you once again for a lovely story.

There has to be some uncomfortability with Snape with being close with Hermione, it shouldn't come natural to him. Although the knowledge of being stuck in the same boat as it were helps to budge him along, there has to be a progression. I wanted to make the clean break of Snape finally letting go of Lily and his debt to look after Harry before he could really comfort Hermione. He willing takes her in his arms and comforts her. He is now free, not wholly comfortable with the fact, but recognizes it still anyway. Thanks for reviewing!

Another good, if slightly sad chapter. I love your characterisations (sp?) of how both Hermione and Severus are going through their grief. The seem to progress in the proper way :)Can't wait until the next chapter.

Thanks! I really wanted everything to be realistic and not gloss over the grief. I hope you like the next chapter, the plot will start to kick in!

Thank you so much for the update! You know, your story is really, truly, amazingly intriguing. It is so bittersweet and at the same time one can see the silverlining that promises that someday things will be better. Your writing is excellent, the plot is brilliant and I am so happy to be able to follow your lead as the story developes!!!!

Lovely progression and tidying up of the losses before the emotional and physical re-building occurs. I see that you are taking the relationship building slow, which seems to sit well with the storyline. While you have written it as a gentle story I assume from your replies that once they have recovered somewhat and their usual personas come to the fore it will not be so gentle - He He!Thanks and I look forward to more.Cheers

So true. It will make for a wonderful starting point, but not a foundation. That, they will have to create themselves over time.

Bookends is such an emotive story. You write so eloquently of the pain and loss Hermione and Severus feel in this post-war world. Their developing friendship, and occasional lapses into feelings of the heart, evoke a future that may hold great happiness for them both. But there are steps each must take before this can be fully realized -- saying goodbye to old loves and old friends, coming to terms with today's reality.Severus has made a beginning in laying old ghosts to rest: Lily. Goodbye, Lily. You have your boy with you now. You can now rest. Voldemort can’t hurt anyone anymore. It’s all over. And he has taken the first tentative steps into the future: It’s all over, he thought as he looked at his crying companion while she knelt upon Harry’s grave. He scooped her up into his arms, and she rested her head on his proffered chest. It was right and comforting that she should take her solace and comforting from him. They were the same now....he would not mind taking a demure and shy Hermione into his bed, but how would she be if she were her dominant, bossy, determined self? A series of various erotic images of a sensual, take charge Hermione ran through his mind. He shook his head. Stop this, Severus! he chided himself.Hermione, as well, is realizing how comforting Severus is. She has found in him a solace and contentment that she had thought she would never know again: She glided her hand across the picture, and her tears fell freely again. Snape cautiously placed a hand on her shoulder, and she turned and flung herself at him, holding on for dear life. She felt so lost and small; she needed to feel his strength. She never thought she would be so happy her snarky, rude, sarcastic professor was alive. She held on, breathing in his scent, happily knowing that just as his arm had felt like steel when she had touched him earlier, his chest was just as hard and strong. She felt safe. Wonderful chapter, Livvy! I can't wait for the next update.

I am so glad you are enjoying this. It was a difficult chapter to write. I wanted to make sure that the magnitude of the losses didn't just receive lip service and then Snape and Hermione hop in the sack. There must be a realistic progression for it to work. Thanks for reviewing!

I was wondering when one of them would think of the other sexually. I remember an episode of M*A*S*H where Hotlips and Hawkeye slept together most likely as a reafirmination of life.Happily, Albus gave us a bit of a comical break that really melded well into the story.
