I am a grateful fan of Ms. Rowling and of her overwhelming Byronic Character, Severus Snape! Please check out the first chapters of each fic (except for "How Can I Tell You," which is on Chapter 2) to see pictures of the Heroines.
Admins' Note: Livvy6 died suddenly on February 22, 2012, leaving behind her husband, six-year-old daughter, and seventeen stories well-loved by the TPP community. All who knew her—including those in Harry Potter fandom and all of us, here—are richer for having known her.
Requiescat in pace, Livvy. Always.

Well that sucked. So much for having a talk with his wife. What a terrible threat--He won't touch her again! Hermione never really had any girlfriends, which I am sure Severus does not know. Mentioning her friends would just remind her that they are all dead. If she never received any instructions from her mother, then there is no help there. Hermione already feels inadequate and unattractive, now she will feel unwanted. Yeah, I would be crying my eyes out, too. Then I would be leaving.

Yes, he really screwed up. He'll make it up to her, though. Soon this will be all behind us and we can get down to some good ole fashioned smut! lolLivvy

Thank you so much for the update:-) I am not sure if I should feel sorry for Severus or be mad at him. I do understand that he is completly out of his element with regards to young wifes, but Rosie did warn him. It would be wrong to call him the "grown up" in this marriage, that would imply that Hermione should be looked upon as a child and that would be wrong. But, he is elder and he should realise that there is somethings the "know-it-all" doesn't know and either help her find books about the subject to they can learn together, or try to bit his tounge and sohw more patience. If the thougth urinating in the bed scares Hermione, why don't they move their exploration to the bathroom? What is totally wrong is to jump out of the bed and tell your young wife that you won't want her anymore (not what he said, but probably what Hermione heard). It was nice to "see" Peeves again:-))
Response from livvy6 (Author of Bookends)
It was good to have Peeves back again! What you said was spot on. Severus acted like a jerk to her when it would have been a perfect opportunity to get to the heart of the matter. All he did was make it worse. We'll see what these two can do to fix things in the next chapter! lol! Thanks for reviewing!Livvy

Great chapter. But their tempers shouldn't run so short, if they are trying to find middle ground. Unless, of course, you have a whacking great row in store for them to indulge in and then have terrific make-up sex. In a story you can do that, but real life is another matter. Thanks for the super fast updates. Love this.

The next chapter is going to be out-of-control! Things will definately be coming to a head. Thanks!

First of all, I have to admit freely to having only read a few chapters sporadically, not the entire thing. I think my not having read the story in its entirety is the reason I have no idea why she is so repressed.I think Severus is unused to being sympathetic and unused to having someone with little to no experience. Hermione sounds virginal and inexperienced and unwilling to try new things. If you could kindly refer me to a chapter that would enlighten me as to the reason for this, I'd be most appreciative. Was she perhaps raped? So they're both at fault here. She is too shy to talk about sex. He's too frustrated about the whole thing. If she'd only listen and let herself go, she'd experience something amazing and well outside her comprehension. Too bad he was too frustrated to actually tell her that.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Bookends)
Yes, Chapter nine, A Virgin's Dilemma, would be the one to read. It goes into her upbringing. She was just raised by a sexually repressed mother. There has been a lot of debate about Hermione. Some think she's being a big baby about it all, some think it's very understnadable given her age, inexperience, and loss of all her friends, plus added responsibilities. Some think she is true to canon, some think she is not true to canon, so it's all very interesting.Much of this story is from Hermione's POV, so many chapters have images into the mind of Hermione and why she thinks the way she does, but I think chapter nine really gets the gist of it.But no worries, together they'll sort out this whole sex thing! :) Thanks for reviewing!

Oh dear, just what Hermione didn't need, to be made to feel inadequate by a bunch of bragging bitches witches.

I really hope that Hermione wasn't just awake enough to hear the last line: “Severus, my Floo is open. Remember that when you are finished putting her to bed.” and also, if he goes to see whatever Rosie wants to tell him, that he's definitely back before she wakes up! Wonder how people'll take the Head of Slytherin being a muggle-born...
Response from livvy6 (Author of Bookends)
That will definately be an issue- Snape being with a Muggle-born...as for Rosie, all I will say is this: Hermione did not hear a word.THe next chapter will be up soon, it's in the queue and everything about Rosie's relationship with Severus will be answered. Thanks for reviewing!Livvy

Gooooo Buckeyes! ;) As a girl who went to uni in Ohio (near OSU) - I have to say that even I get lost when they start talking about football. :)That being said...love how you're portraying Hermione...though I do wonder when she's going to grow up a bit (not because of anything you are or aren't writing...I just am frustrated in my own life with a 28 year old partner who fancies himself bloody Peter Pan). ;)
Response from livvy6 (Author of Bookends)
She's got a lot of sadness going on inside her, major losses, misses her parents, and it can't be easy married to a man 20 years older than you and didn't date before getting married. She's got a lot of pressures for an eighteen year old. She'll get some help though and she and Severus will work through things :)Thanks for reviewing!Livvy

Samantha calls women 'gals'? That's sort of 'western' isn't it? She doesn't come across as being like Tonks at all in the reading. I'm finding her a little too overbearing and loud.Just dyin' to know what's up with Rosie. She's an interesting character.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Bookends)
I have Samantha as a Northern woman from Ohio, and when we (I'm from Michigan, but I am nothing like Samantha) we do say 'gals' when talking in fun and all that. Funny, I always found Tonks to be exactly that, overbearing and loud. It was what made her stick out. Plus, she was a friendly woman who liked being different, but that is just my interpretation of her.Your unease about Samantha is interesting, keep that in mind. Hermione will continue to take issue with her. Thanks for reviewing!Livvy

Poor Hermione... she really does have a lot on her. She hasn't yet finished grieving the loss of her parents or her friends, and she finds herself married and without the confidence that experience would bring.I know Severus loves her, and I'm sure he will do everything he can to help her through this. But he has a lot on him, as well, poor man. No rest for the weary...I hope that Rosie's offer of help will not muddy the waters. I think she means well, and I think that she and Severus must have known each other for a long time. I have no idea what their shared past might entail, but I hope it doesn't cause problems for Hermione's and Severus's marriage. Somehow I don't think it will, but I've been wrong lots of times. Only time will tell.I love this story and the way you are writing it. You are so good at your craft, Livvy. Thank you for writing for all of your readers.

I can see how Hermione is overwhelmed, but I'm not sure what to make of the last statement Rosie made. "The floo will be open till morning." Did she make a pass, invite Severus for a conversation about Hermione? As for the witch from Ohio, well I'm from Ohio and I couldn't tell you much about the Buckeyes and or Michigan. Go figure.

Well, that certainly didn't go well. And why would Rosie remind Severus that her Floo is open. Is he seeing her on the side, or is it something else? If he's betraying Hermione, that's going to make things so much more difficult because it's obvious that she loves him a great deal.

Poor Hermione she needs to get a grip and go to Poppy or Rosie and start to figure out whats wrong. She started a little bit with Rosie and needs to continue talking out all her feelings and fears. it dos'nt help that the other teachers are way more secure then her. all thoue they have not gone through what she has. Hopefully you will sort it all out happily for her. Great chapter update soon.

I'm wondering what's wrong with Hermione. Is it PTSD? That would make a lot of sense, given the circumstances. It's hard to see her reduced to such an immature level though. The poor woman.I really hope she will recover at least a bit soon.
Response from livvy6 (Author of Bookends)
I don't think it is immaturity, I think she is overwhelmed with the beginning of having a sex life and is (as usual) putting WAY too much pressure on herself. This is something you can't think your way out of, it's SEX! But yes, she's had a lot of loss and change, its bound to take its toll. Thanks for reviewing,Livvy
