I am a longtime fanfic fanatic, having entered the realm via Buffydom. One day I read a Willow/Severus crossover and I was hooked – on Snape that is! He's been in every HP story I've done so far.
I write in multiple fandoms on LJ, esp. BtVS and Firefly. If you're interested in reading my fic for other/crossover fandoms, it can be found at:

What?!? I need more! This was such a great beginning!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the story!

Wow, that's awesome! The bits&pieces-think works grreat for me, constructing a nice kind of suspense and anticipation. And what a kind of bleak existence for Snape! It tears at my heart to read this, and I can't wait to read on and know what is going to happen. Even if this is not a romance, I do sincerely hope that you will make his life better.
Author's Response: Thanks! I'm so very happy to hear that you enjoyed the story and its construction! This is a one-shot, but I did just post a humorous addendum.
Oh, this was lovely and totally not what I was expecting. I love how it jumps around a bit and really...I loved just about all of it.

Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it and found it unusual!
I disagree with an earlier review, which didn't like the tense you chose for the story. Though that is hellishly difficult to write well, you DID it in this story, and it is perfect. The jumping - between - scenes and times---perfect as well. It gives me the complete "disorientation" and sense of disjointed thoughts that Hermione must be surely feeling in her double-life. Although you wrote this as a one-shot, I would simply love to read a further chapter. I can definitely see this developing into an affair---NOT a romance, mind you---an affair. With the two of them so surrounded-by-clautrophobic-crowds-of-people yet utterly alone, there is little to stop them falling into an affair merely as a result of their desperate need to connect to SOMEONE. Yet it would have nothing to do with love, not really---and the capacity for even more angst for both of them is tremendous (Serverus again has an unreachable woman in his life; Hermione eating herself alive with guilt but unable to give up the one person on earth who KNOWS). Please give the idea some thought.

Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it! the story, the moving between timelines, and the tense! There's not a sequel (which I agree would not move into a happy romance), but I did just post a humorous addendum.
Wow. Just wow. This is amazing, moving, and lovely. I read it a while back lurking on the exchange, and admired it then. The moments you create are beautiful. Thank you!

Brilliantly done. I wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars.

Interesting, original, and well thought out. I wish you hadn't used present tense, but I am old fashioned and hate this modern way of using present tense to tell a tale. Other than that stylistic issue, it's well-written.Thanks for sharing this rather sad tale with us.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Hiding)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it! And present tense is lovely and lively for those open to embracing it - I hope it grows on you since it's been in use for decades now.
No words...no words but totally awesome! OMG!!! Hopefully their talk can ease both of them. Ubiquirk, you have out done yourself.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Hiding)
Thanks! It's so lovely to hear that you liked it so!
Oh, what a place to end it! Really heart-wrenching and beautifully sad. I want to hear the conversation between them! Very nicely done. But depressing as hell - and, you were right, not a romance!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Hiding)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it and found it moving! Yep - I did want to warn everyone.
Very well done. You've captured that ever-present tension and bottled grief that most infertile people feel (okay granted, it was Ron here, but he is blissfully unaware!). Wish it wasn't a one-shot, but it's beautiful nonetheless.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Hiding)
Thanks! I'm so happy to hear that you think it captures the tension and grief of that situation! There's not a sequel, but I did just post a humorous addendum.
Loved it. The characters and the situations they find themselves in are totally plausible. Wish there were more chapters coming...?

Great story, way to tweak up the dratted epilogue!
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Hiding)
Thanks! I'm really glad you liked it! And I love twitting the epilogue!
Oh, I hope there's more. As interesting as this story is, what happens when Hermione and Snape talk should be even more so.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Hiding)
Thanks! It's nice to hear you liked it! It is a one-shot though.
I'm so glad you write some sequel because I would have regretted to not have read this one. It seems I missed it when you posted in the first place which is unforgivable considering how well written this is. I like it very much the way the three times interwined together, creating suspense and anticipation. That was a delicious feeling.
Response from ubiquirk (Author of Hiding)
Thanks! It's wonderful to hear that you like this story and the mixed timelines! Thanks as well for saying such a lovely thing about my writing!
