Reviews for Duel at Dusk
I know absolutely nothing about wine, but this story makes me want to learn. It was fun!
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Ooh, two lovely reviews in a row! Thank you so much - you made my day. And I'm glad if I could interest you in wine - it's a fascinating universe, and I'm working at the moment on another story "with wine."

Would it shock you to know I am drinking wine right now? Okay the really horrid part is that its out of a box. Your are going to de-friend me arent you?Where is chapter two with the naked parts?
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
It would delight me to know that you are drinking wine while reading my story! Don't worry about it being out of a box - any wine-drinking is a tribute to the wonders of the vine.
I have attacked the naked bits, but while I thought it would be a nice light-hearted 2000 words, it has suddenly sprouted nine fierce heads. I have typed 4000 words of backstory yesterday and I'm nowhere near the point. It's the first time that happens to me, and I'm a bit distressed, but I see no other solution than going with the flow.
Thanks for the lovely review, and please have patience for the naked bits!

I have patience, I sincerely do. Just knowing you are working on it is enough for me. All your writings you have posted are wonderful, the fan girls can wait. :D
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
You really know how to encourage a girl. Thank you so much! I'm returning to the task with renewed energy.
Mmmmm. Still as luscious as the first time I read it. God, I want to go wine tasting. A night with Sev and Luc as my slaves wouldn't be bad either.
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Thank you! I hope you can go wine tasting in the area where you live - there are certainly wine fairs or such? If not, you'll have to come to France!
The slave thing is no joke, as they have taken a wand oath to do whatever she commands for that night. So, even if she calls them Sev and Luc, they'll have to put up with it!
And now I'm wondering if Hermione will satisfy herself with just one night...
Response from a_bees_buzz (Reviewer)
I'd be very happy to spend some time in France! It's been a while since my last visit.
Wand oath? Does this mean you have thought about what comes next? *hopes for a sequel*
(One of the reasons I love this archive - you can chat in the review section!)
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Yes, the chat feature is very nice!
Wand oath - I see my teaser has worked! Mmm, yes, I have thought about what comes next, but it's still simmering.
If you come to France, we could meet - and taste wine.

The day someone gives me a free ticket, I'm on my way. Sadly, the budget won't stretch that far at the moment.
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
I can provide accomodation though. With a bit of luck, maybe you'll be able to hop this way.
I hope I'm not taking advantage, but I have just thought about this: I'm seeking historical information about Princess Ralou (or Ralu), the daughter of the Phanariot hospodar Caradja. Do you know any places online (other than Wiki) where I could find something?
Response from a_bees_buzz (Reviewer)
I've just checked the most broad-based academic search engines, and came up with nothing. For Phanariot I got reviews of books on both the Ottoman Empire and Romania, but none of them seemed specific, Caradja came up with a few very innocuous references to a Dr. Caradja who seems to have been Jewish? or treated Jews, and neither Ralu nor Ralou came up with anything. OTOH, I often find more through Google than I do through academic sites, especially when dealing with questions about the stories of lives of individuals - few academics publish biographies or narrative history, unless the character is very famous, but lots of them put that sort of stuff on websites, as do many non-academic researchers.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Oh, you went to a lot of trouble! Thank you very much. I'll do as you suggest and just google for it. Wikipedia has some basic info, but I wanted more. She was a fascinating character and I'm toying with the idea of writing something about her.
Response from a_bees_buzz (Reviewer)
No problem. I have access to databases that most people can't get at, and it doesn't take long to run a search.
I admit I was totally taken in, expecting to see spells flying, death, and destruction. Very interesting and amusing. I'd like to see a sequel.
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
I admit I'm pleased you were taken in about the duel! There was no death and destruction...but there will be some consequences, especially for Mr. Malfoy. That's to say that a little sequel is simmering quietly on the back burner.
Thank you very much for the lovely review.
I went to see what else you have written: that lovely eclair story as well, you teaze! You must write some smut!
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Hee! I do enjoy teasing! ~evil cackle~
I wish to write smut, but as I have no experience yet, it has to brew slowly. Hopefully the result will be palatable!
I'm glad you enjoyed both stories. Thank you very much for the lovely reviews!
Fascinating and funny. I do enjoy a decent wine (and a decent whine, when it comes down to it) every now and again, but have the appreciation of a mere amateur. It was fascinating to learn more about wine and funny to have Hermione win AND have those two delectable men to do her bidding. SEQUEL!!! This was incredibly seductive just in your wording to describe the situation, would love to read a bit of lovin' in the same style...
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Thank you very much! Hermione is a lucky girl indeed...and I think there will be a sequel, it's just slowly simmering.
clever. wish i knew more about wine; perhaps i'd have enjoyed it even more. thanks for defining caudalies in your author's note - i was getting ready to google it.
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Thank you! I'm glad if I got you interested in wine - it's a fascinating universe.
Funny- I thought they were going to duel - I never guessed it was a wine tasting contest. Very sneaky
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the story, and I admit I'm rather pleased you were taken in about the nature of the duel.
Were I in Hermione's place, I wonder what I could do with two sexy slaves for one night. NO I know exactly what I'll do *evil grin* ...

Hmm...So do I. But Hermione is a planner, and it may be that she has some ulterior motives. There will be a sequel, if the Muse is amenable.
Hee! Glad to see you've posted this one here. I'm still incredibly jealous of Hermione: a bottle of Lafite, a bottle of Chateau d'Yquem and Lucius and Severus as her slaves? I need to learn how to count caudalies as well, I think. ;-)
Response from duniazade (Author of Duel at Dusk)
Thanks! I'm flattered that you've read the story again, and glad that you still like it the second time around. As to being jealous of Hermione...maybe you should wait until dawn? ;-)
Counting caudalies is not that difficult - it's just formalising what gourmets do anyway. I'm sure you would learn very quickly! Especially with the right motivation...
