People are supposed to find romance on the streets of Paris, right? Well, what happens when Hermione gets a little more than she bargained for under those French stars?

known as Coco; also bella, gildedglamour on LJ, etc.
i'm a great many things, including:
indian & burmese
a proud harpy
a little crazy
creative and lovable... most of the time!
always vanishing at inappropriate times thanks to that dreaded 'RL'
really bad at updating regularly
apparently 'elegant', probably really not.
i like writing, slytherin men, writing about slytherin men... oh and reviews too.
:]
REGARDING ALL THAT'S LEFT
In case you were wondering why it vanished off the face of the earth, not to worry. It's undergoing a significant bit of revision, but it'll be back eventually. It'll probably be under a different name, too, but the premise will largely be the same. Thanks to everyone who supported me through it; I just wanted to make a few changes but it'll be back, I promise.

So fun... Please update soon

Thanks, and I will, I promise! I've jsut been really ill lately, so everything has been at a standstill. Thank you for the review!
Hermione makes me laugh. :)
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
She makes me laugh, too, and I technically 'recreated' her! :)
if i were hermione i'd try to hang the portrat lower! lovely update. thanks and i look forward to more!
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
Hahaha, perhaps she should. More will be coming, but only after the challenge unforunately since there's only five days left. But then you'll know who I am! :)
Yes, it most certainly does meet the expitations in the humor department! It's adorable - Still a head shorter ... lol
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
Shh! Haha. I don't quite know what happened with that first chapter, it was a bit of a monster, I don't normally write 4000-5000 word chapters at one sitting. I'm considering chopping it into two, but at this point it'd a bit superfluous so I can't be stuffed.

But of course! Minerva is just as manipulative as Dumbledore here. Nicely done. Nasty Ministry - no profit, no use once used... sheesh. I'm with you on the name situation - too many people will call their kids "Harry" or "Albus" or the other heroes' names in the years after the defeat of Voldemort.
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
True, and it's so cliched. Seriously, I would like to slap the next fanfic author that calls Harry and Ginny's kids something like James Harry and Lilly Molly. It's like, use your imagination, please! (But don't hold me to that one... I don't REALLY mean it. haha, just making sure.)
Haha, totally agreed, but then, our dear Minnie learns from the best, no?

I like your Neville! I'm curious where you're going with the cure and how she'll connect with Severus...
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
Neville's a great character, and he writes himself, bless him. I think you'll find her 'connections' with Severus fairly interesting. :)

Interesting beginning! I like the lightness and the way you incorporated humor. Hermione's running commentary is fun to read, as are the various conversations. I like how you capture different personalities for each of your characters. I'm curious how Remus survived DH, and how/if Severus did as well. I'm looking forward to the rest!
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
Thank you! As for Remus, I am mostly ignoring those last pages, including the one which is all 'and Tonks and Remus lived happily ever after... in death.' Which is why there's no mention of Teddy, though you will see Tonks around. I like to cultivate each character and make them their own; although of course there are minor characters, I always think that even they should be so well crafted that if I ever wanted to pull them into another chapter, I wouldn't have to think too hard about where they would fit in. That's my theory, anyway. :)

I really love your Neville. He is srong and independent wihtout forgetting his friends and causes.
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
Mhmm, Neville is pretty awesome to play around with. He can be portrayed in so many different ways, but I like this one of him the best.

"Ermyknee Gronjair. I can’t help wincing—she makes me sound like some grotesquely disfiguring knee disease. Hello, Doctor, I seem to have come down with a rather bad case of Ermykneegronjair"I think this is one of the best quotes I have ever read!
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
Hahaha, thanks, that seems to have been a popular one so far!

*is suspicious* The writing style seems familiar. I wonder... Hmmm.... I may have a guess as to your identity.
I love Mr Weasley, I do. But if he tries nicking off with anymore of my parents’ plugs, I’m not sure if he’ll be allowed back in our home anytime soon, wizard or no.
That bit just struck me as incredibly adorable. :p
I liked this. I like the portrayal of the french shop assistants who seem to have forgotten that there is a risk that she'll just take their business elsewhere. Okay, so she couldn't really do it with these two, but still. Especially the one with the paintings amused me. It's the first time I've seen someone trying to talk the customer out of spending their money. :p
Response from bellarossi (Author of Paris When it Sizzles)
You're welcome to guess openly. ;) I've always loved Mr Weasley and the strange little things he does. He's probably one of my favourite characters, out of maybe six of them.
Haha! I'm glad you did. I'm being very uncharitable towards the French, of course-- they're a much nicer bunch than I've portrayed them as here.

This is great! Made me giggle, especially the "Jane Eyre" and "Sound of Music" references (although I kind of liked that version of "Jane Eyre." Even if Jane DOES have the personality of a paper bag...) and "Ermykneegronjair." Hee! I don't speak French, but I kind of wish I did; it sounds so sophisiticated, lol. Looking forward to more! :D

Thanks! I'm glad I made you laugh, my job is done in that case! I hope you will like the next chapter, which is just as silly. French is a brilliant language, I love speaking it. it makes me feel so sexy when I speak French, hahaha. You should definitely learn it someday if you ever have the time.
Response from Sporky1126 (Reviewer)
Hmm, maybe I will someday. Although after my horrid experience trying to learn Spanish, I'm done with other languages for a while. :P

Wow, I love the French and how you used it in the story! Cool. I’m glad you have Neville in the story, I’ve always liked the guy. However, I thought that Remus died in book 7 – but you’ve kept him alive? Interesting and that’s cool too!
It’s nice that you’re using first person and it seems so effortlessly – the flow if the story is so natural and holds the interest well. Good job. Look forward to the next chapter…

Thanks, this is a lovely review! It made me smile, which is good haha. Oh this story is definitely EWE because I love Remus and I couldn't let him go, haha. I love weaving culture into stories, it just makes them so much more interesting to read when it's not the typical setting and you can't always guess what will happen next. That's always good.
Aww, thanks. I love writing in first person. It's such a casual way to write and you have to watch how you write, but it's lots of fun to do because you get to physically put yourself in Hermione's position and think about what she would do in situations. I've always considered Hermione to be quite a snarky sort of person, obviously not as much as Snape but she says those little comments that make you snicker.
Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it so far! Thanks for the review.

Very nice. I rather like the way Hermione knows French, and yet is rather annoyed by the way the French act all of the time. From personal experience I can tell you that the French still live in the era where Naked-Sexy-French ladies being donned on the cover of magazines and on posters in the streets! Very romantic, spying a naked lady snogging a man whilst you are trying to chat up a very gorgeous French lad, in French.Back to the point, I enjoyed the story VERY much, and thought it was enlightening. I hope that you can continue the story.

I love everything about France, even backward things like that. I've always loved that classic French club image, of the thin young girl with heavy makeup and a cigarette between her fingers huskily singing about broken hearts.
Oops, but I am straying a bit from the point. I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'm enjoying writing it, so there you go. Thank you for reviewing!

Ah, the penny drops. I very much enjoyed the jaunt in Hermione's mind, and your sense of acerbic wit shines through. Judging from your style, I could hazard... But no, I must not give in to idle speculation. Thank you for the lovely premise of opening the story in Paris, with a fascinating revelation of the workings of wizarding Britain and a fair twist of the prompt. On a sidenote, I was taught that it is never "Je suis Marie Debussy." It was always "Je m'appelle Marie Debussy", Je suis was only used for occupation or nationality, but never name. I could be wrong though...Still, excellent story (and I did laugh when I came to the stupid cow reference) and I look forward ro more.

Oh no, I'm aware of that. I speak French fluently. You say 'je suis etc.' for business sometimes, because 'je m'appelle' literally means 'I call myself' and it's a bit like, if it's for a business situation it's somewhat informal.
I love writing like this. I don't normally get the chance to, because it's very informal and very biased, so people don't often like it, especially because getting Hermione right can get so nitpicky, and people are always like, 'but Hermione would never say that.' Mostly I'm just like, 'well, how do you know?'
I'm glad you're enjoying it! The next chapter will come soon-ish, so I hope you enjoy it.

I can't wait to read more of this:)Your words paint a very vivid and loving picture of Wizarding Paris, and I can tell this is going to be a story I will enjoy reading again and again.
