Just an avid reader who somehow stumbled into HP fanfiction. I read and sometimes, I write.
Reviews for The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas
Wow. This is one of those few stories that makes me glad that people can't really do magic like in hp. So putting the potion in a gold phial made it eternal huh? Interesting.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you! It's terribly sad, isn't it?
Oh. It wasn't the gold phial. It was the adding of her blood and his that made it eternal. ;) Sorry if that was a bit confusing!
Wow! I LOVE the ending. Even though he felt he had to take the Amortentia, by not making her take it, he proved he already loved her. Sad, though, that he felt he needed to take it. Was it because he thought she wouldn't stay with him if he wasn't under the influence? Did he originally plan on giving it to her? Was he afraid she would leave if he stayed his snarky-git self and made her doubt his love? So many questions!!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you! That's one of the things I like about the ending--there are so many more questions now. As for the why, I think it was because he didn't belive that he was good enough, could love her well enough without the potion. He didn't have enough faith in himself. So I think your third question is the right one. The question I ask that I don't have the answer for is what should Hermione do now? He obviously loved her, or he wouldn't have done such a thing. On the other hand, he betrayed her trust and is now under the influence of a potion -- forever. I feel sorry for both of him. It's just so sad.
And now I can return to my normal, happy fluffy romance writing. LOL Thanks for giving this one a chance!
Response from Sporky1126 (Reviewer)
That's a good point with that last question..although she knows he loves her, both because he did it and because the Amortentia worked, so maybe she would stay. But as you said, he Bound her and made her watch/participate in this crazy scheme. If you could ever think of a "What Does Hermione Do?" epilogue/sequel, that would be awesome, but since it could easily go both ways, I can understand why you would just leave it where it is. :)
Of course, you could always have Hermione discover a rare, as yet untried, counterpotion. That would fix everything. :P
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Funny that you should mention a possible "What Does Hermione Do?" epilogue. Someone mentioned something in a comment today on LiveJournal that gave me an idea. We'll see if it pans out. :D It would have to fit with the feel of this piece though. I really don't want to try to turn it into a happy romance ... no matter how much I would love to! LOL I was really just experimenting with a different genre from what I normally write. I don't want to mess it up now! :D
Thanks, again!
I've enjoyed your story. Part of me wants to plead for an epilogue, but part of me is afraid you'd do something like have Severus let her go and there would be nothing but angst. Happy ending junkies like me don't like angst! [I know, you did put it in the warning but ....] Now, if you had had him make her drink it first, I would be resting more easily *wink* Love your stuff - and thanks for your work!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed my little venture into the darker side of things. ;)
I'm with you on the angst! I usually write happy, fluffy romance and always with a happy ending. This one ... well, honestly I have no idea what would happen next. Does she stay with him or leave? Whatever she decides would be heartbreaking.
Now that it's out of my system, I can return to my usual fluff writing. LOL I've been working on the next chapter of Heart and Soul. Hopefully it will be up within the next week. :)
Thanks again!
OMG! Evil cliffie!!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
It really was, wasn't it? :D Thank you!
(I just posted the conclusion!)
Yikes! This is different! I like the dark twist on it though...can't wait to see what happens!~HR
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thanks! It is quite different from what I usually write. LOL The conclusion will post in the morning! :)
A surprising and brilliant end!!!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you so much!!
Oooh, goody! A triunph, my dear! A positively deranged Severus for Christmas! Thanks ever so much.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you! He's a bit ... well, yes. Deranged is a good word. LOL The conclusion will be up tomorrow! Thanks, again!
Let me check. Yep, still creepy. I can hardly wait for three, two, and one.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Yep, it still is! Thanks! Three, two, and one will be up in the morning. :)
Strangely, the non-consensual touching is the least of the squickiness going on here. Still enjoying this, which probably says something scary about me.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
I can definitely understand that. I feel the same way. The emotional and psychological things going on ... those things are very scary to me.
Nothing scary about you! I wrote it, and I'm not scary at all! :D
Thank you so much! More up tomorrow.
OK so we have a scared Hermione and a very dark Severus, my interest is definately stirred I'm intriged as to where this is going and a little scared for Hermione.Great writing
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you! I'm glad I have you intrigued. :) More tomorrow!
Creepy. If that was what you were going for, you got it.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Yes, creepy is the sort of feel I was going for there. :) I hope you enjoy the rest of it. I'll post the next set tomorrow morning.
ooh, this sounds promising. Scary, but promising. Cant wait for more
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
I'm so glad you think so! More to come very soon! Thank you!
This story is a brilliant thing of twisted beauty, I´m so happy I found it!
I love the idea of him having faith in her ability to love but not in his own.
Really, really well done, thank you!
This is still beautiful. I'm glad I took the time to reread it.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Aw, thanks, hon! *squishes you*

Holy smokes, shug! You were not kidding with the "this isn't my usual fare" in the beginning. I am so shocked, because even though I expected something awful, I did not expect that.
Wow. This was great, even if my tummy is all upset now. And thank the awards for the putting this on my to-read list. Well done.
Author's Response: Thank you so much, lulabelle! It was quite the departure for me, but I'm very pleased that I held out and left it as I had intended without trying to make it fluffy fix it. :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it -- though I'm sorry it upset your tummy!
Oh my gosh! I mean... OH MY GOSH!! That was bloody brilliant! What a twisted mind Severus has here, how convoluted his plan. This fic was amazing and I found the ending to be completely unexpected. Great job!!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
*bounces* I got you by surprise! Yay! :D I'm so glad you enjoyed this twisty tale! Thank you so much!
Dun dun dun... can't wait to read the last installment and see if Severus really is this dark self-destructive character he seems to be.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Dun dun dun is right! Hope you liked the ending! It made me so nervous when I first posted it. :)Thank you!
This IS very dark - or at least it seems to be. I'm wondering what it is Severus is trying to accomplish and if you, dear writer, are sending us readers purposely off the trail. :)Either way, I'm loving it. lol
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
It is dark -- especially for me! I tend to write much lighter fare, but this was a bunny that wouldn't go away. Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Eek! *runs off to the next*
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
I know! *eeks with you* Thank you!
Goodness, that was dark! And that twist where _he_ drank the potion instead of making _her_ drink it... Well done! BTW, congratulations on your nomination!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you very much! This is such a departure from what I normally write, but when a bunny bites ... ;)Thanks, again!
Wow!!! How amazing fic!!!I really love it!You scared me a little bit, but that final chap OMG so lovely and very well written.Thank you!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you very much! I usually write more light and fluffy sorts of stories, so this was a departure for me. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :D
Well fuck me sideways...I was literally whimpering throughout this fic because I could only see it going somewhere REALLY bad - so the twist ending really was a curve ball!NGH...so dark and lovely...
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you, Deathy! This was my first (and only) attempt at a darker fic. I was really nervous about it--and I was worried I'd cave at the end and try to turn it fluffy! LOLI'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Oh my. Shocking ending there. Wow. I had to go back and read it again. Well done.
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you very much! :) The ending was so hard for me to leave alone -- I like them happy! LOL But it definitely fit for this story. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. Thanks again!

Oh, my! This was, this was so dark and creepy... and terrirific beautiful I almost cry! All Severus wanted was to be able to love her as she deserve...
Very original and beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! This was such a departure for me, especially with the ambiguous ending. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
That was twisted! And dark. Ah, poor Severus. He couldn't believe that his love for Hermione would last. He thought only binding himself to her would do the trick. Poor Hermione, for she will never have the chance to show him he was wrong...Beautiful!
Response from sshg316 (Author of The Twelve Dark Days of Christmas)
Thank you for the review! Yes, this one is quite dark and twisted, very different from what I normally write. You got it spot on. It's really very sad that he didn't believe their love would last any other way. And I feel horrible for Hermione. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks, again!
