Reviews for Heat
It took me twice to read it. The first time my heart could not follow the transition from the long time routine of awkwardness between them to the start of love making. Must be blamed on my reading. But their story caught me somehow, and my trust in you as a writer, so I read it once again. And oh, what a beautiful story it turned out to be! On several moments I had tears in my eyes, feeling how the loneliness and hurt, underlaying his sarcasm and austerity, fought against his almost buried wish to be passionate, to be loved, perhaps for only once and his wish to give love. Also Poppy's emotions, how she thought and used her senses to understand what was happening to him so that she could keep him from slipping back, her doubts and fears about her own feelings for Severus, not (yet) being able to love him fully. You have stayed so true to their character, created two very living beings in doing so. What can I say: you mastered this story, my dear! And yes, the heat is there, it IS highly erotical. But it is so much more than that, for who wants to find it...I bow to you and thank you from the depth of me.

Hmm, i realize now that "love" was a to great word for Severus, it is more tenderness and sharing that accompanies his passion at this stage. For love i guess he needs a great deal more trust and also he must be able to 'forget" Lilly (but that on the side)
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Yes, Severus does long for closeness, affection, and connection with others, and he does wish to give and receive love, even if he doesn't recognize that himself. He still can't love, but by the end, he does feel open enough to warm, tender feelings that he allows himself to show genuine affection for Poppy -- and passion, too. Thanks very much for the review! I'm very glad you enjoyed the story. It's one of those stories that surprised me when I wrote it, but it's become one of my own favorites, too. (BTW, if you like this pairing, you'll probably enjoy A Long Vernal Season when/if you get to it! )

Oh, this is just such a perfect story! You've written it so beautifully, and kept so true to the characters, that it deserves to be in a category all its own. Very delicious when it comes to lemons, but far and away more involved than a standard PWP, especially with all the conflicting emotions – desire, fear, self-loathing, paranoia, understanding... Simultaneously joyful and sweet while indescribably poignant and sad.Definitely added to my favorites!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Thanks! I'm very glad you found it! It's one of my favorite lemons that I've written, and probably my favorite non-RaMverse fic of any sort. It was a surprise to me, and almost an accident that it was written, but a happy accident.Severus can be a great character to write, and I enjoy writing him interacting with different characters in different situations.Thank you again!
And why not? Older women are often the best choice.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Why not, indeed? Glad you liked it! (As you can see, this is a different Severus from the one in AAoL & DD, though perhaps not so different in character . . .)Thanks for reviewing!

I have always enjoyed Severus with other Hogwarts females. There is something about their forced intimacy that makes actual intimacy so much more interesting. Great story.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
I thought it would be an interesting pairing to try, and I thought that, as you say, the kind of day-in-day-out intimacy of living together at a school, etc., makes for an interesting situation.I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your review!

I really like this story because it's like a windows into the past. When all of our favorite heroes were young, they were just normal young adults starting out on their new careers, experimenting, and discovering each other. And sometimes, on a hot, sultry day...interesting things happen...
Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks!
Heat is a good title! Very funny at the beginning, with the stilted conversation over the lemonade.<g> Like the bit about the voice, nice.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
I think that Rickman's vocal interpretation of Snape is one of the things that has made him an attractive version of Snape -- some other actor could have taken the character in quite a different direction -- so I tried to include "The Voice" in the story. *grin* Glad the beginning was humorous! Thanks for very much for reviewing!
Oh, my, I'm feeling a bit warm, myself!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
A fan can be handy at times like that! *grin* Thanks for reviewing!
I've never read that pairing! You made it very believable, sad and with hope at the same time. It was a good choice to rely completly on her POV, so we can guess about his feelings.Bitter-sweet... thanks! And the smut was hot ;)
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
I think it is an unexpected pairing! Glad you liked the p.o.v. -- and the smut! *wink* Thanks very much for your comments.
Oh my goodness! As a rule I do not read Severus Snape stories but I think I need to read more. This was great!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Severus Snape stories are very popular, so I'm sure you will be able to find a lot of them! *grin* I'm glad you liked it so much! Thanks for reviewing!
What a lovely birthday gift! Very intertaining story. I loved how uncomfortable Poppy was at first then how brazen she became.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
The present was appreciated! *grin* I'm very happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to review and let me know!
Um, wow. Not a pairing I would ever have thought of, but you sure made it smoke!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
It can be fun to try and make the unusual plausible. I'm glad it smoked! *grin* Thanks very much for reviewing!
Bwha ha :D Poppy always seems so buttoned up (not unlike Severus!), it's fun to see a lighter side of her! Very well done, indeed.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Thanks! I appreciate your taking the time to let me know you enjoyed the story! And Poppy did show a lighter side! *grin*
WOW!!!! That was ONE HOT TAMALE!!!! How in the world do you take characters like Poppy Pomfrey (who isn't exactly exuding much sexual energy) and Severus Snape (who practically drips with raw sexual energy in the right context) and make such a steamy lemon???? Heatwave indeedy! My office is not a sauna thanks to this lemon and it has nothing to do with a broken air conditioner or a door being opened to the outside world.Seriously, this is an awesome pairing. It's not one I would have thought of until now but it makes sense. And the way you manage to keep them both in character just goes to show why you're the ICON and must the GLM! LOVED IT TO BITS!!! And I'm sure the birthday person did as well...lucky duck!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
It's an odd pairing, to be sure, and something of a challenge, but it was fun to find a way to have it work. *grin* And yes, the birthday girl liked it!
Thank you very much for reviewing! And I'm blushing here!
Mmmmmm! You know, I'd been hoping someone would think to write a Severus/Poppy romance set during DH ever since I read the book, and this has convinced me how very, very much I would enjoy that. Thank you for providing me with such a treat!
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Thanks very much! I thought it might be fun to set something during the "lull" period of the eighties, once I'd decided on SS/PP. I'm glad you found it a treat! (Somehow, unless PP is a closet DE, which I doubt, I can't see her in a romance with the man who the staff all knew killed the previous Headmaster . . . so that would be a fic for someone else to write, then, I guess! *wink*) Thanks very much for the review -- I'm really glad you found it a treat! It's nice to know that this somewhat unusual pairing worked! *grin*
Nicely written. The tenderness between them is very touching.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed it.
NOW there's an excellent non-traditional pairing! I LOVE IT!!!! If I ever figure out the problems with my Harry/Umbridge story, I'll have it resubmitted! We could lead the unconventional shipper section, hahaha.Again, I loved this and love reading all your work

Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Thanks! Although I think there's non-traditional/unconventional and there's, um, the weirdly impossible. *wink* Just kidding! I'm glad you enjoyed the story -- and it really is an unexpected and certainly unusual pairing! It was a challenge to take that drabble and turn it into more of a story! Fun, but challenging.
I'm also happy that you enjoy my other work, as well. Heat was just a fun little something I threw together for a friend's b'day, and I'm happy it turned out to be enjoyable for others, as well!
Thanks very much for reviewing! I really appreciate it!
I'm glad this was a recommended fic. I may not have come across it otherwise. I am a sucker for stories that have a strong relationship between Snape and Pomfrey, but I typically like them in that mother/son sort of role, with her taking care of him, giving him the affection he sorely misses from the rest of the world. So this is a whole new world for me, but I find that it works. Heat will do funny things to you. Why not these two? Nicely done.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Thanks very much! I also think that these two work well in a loving relationship, and that Poppy can offer him affection and validation that he normally doesn't get -- and that he may find hard to accept from others, as well.I'm glad that, even though it's not a mother-son relationship, you tried the story out and enjoyed it! Thanks again!
just saw the link from TPP's Facebook account. The timing of this fic is soooo awesome since I was reading a snape/molly fic from ffnet that had hints of snape/poppy. The story (from ffnet) was relly sad since severus was in loved with molly but he can't have her because she's married to arthur, while poppy was always taking care of him whenever he would be hurt after deatheater meetings but it seemed like he never looked at her more than a friend. Great timing indeed that this fanfiction came across my path and it made me a shipper too! And yes, I would be checking out "a long vernal season". I think I've already started reading it last 2009 but I kinda forgot about it...anyway, awesome fic! Good job, even though it's been years since you've wrote and posted this. :D
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
Thank you very much! It's always good to get reviews for stories -- I appreciate them! And I'm glad you enjoyed "Heat" -- it's probably my favorite lemony one-shot of the ones I've written. I like slightly unusual pairings, if they're well done (well, any pairing should be well done! lol), so I'm very glad that you enjoyed Poppy & Severus together! Thanks again!
The way that Snape's awkwardness and reluctance around Poppy developed into tenderness and caring was fascinating, and it turned out to be a very strong passion indeed. Snape does need someone to care for him, after all, and who better than a trained healer? The initial awkwardness around one another, the tension, and the passion of Severus and Poppy were astounding.I especially enjoyed Poppy's observations on Snape's powerful, sarcastic voice.
Response from MMADfan (Author of Heat)
I'm glad you enjoyed the story! It was an unlikely couple, in my mind, when I first started writing "Heat," but by the time I finished it, I really liked the two of them together, so I'm glad that you liked their interactions. After writing "Heat," I was glad to be able to get the two of them together in the RaMverse, as well. Thanks very much!
