Definitely plausible!

Thanks!
This is excellent - it's a terrific (and plausible!) twist, and I love the layers of symbolism, and that we don't know if he survives or not - I like to think that Snape knew he had succeeded, in the end.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
It is a damn shame JKR didnt take the time to give Severus a more meaningful death. I like your version better. This little fan girl will hope his draught of living death did the trick.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
So do I. I honestly feel he is not dead. Nope. I mean, they didn't even check his pulse or see if his heart was beating. They just left him there.
Your version of JKR’s poisoning scene is thoughtful, dignified and in keeping with his noble character. I think I shall cut and paste it into my DH copy.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you, that's very sweet.
I loved your version of this scene, and that it ended on a hopeful note. I simply refuse to believe that someone like Snape would not consider it likely that Voldemort might try to kill him and take at least some precautions. Thank you for pointing out the additional layers of meaning in your notes.
So, what happens next to our beloved potions master?
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you. We'll have to see. Poor Severus. :-/ Even his own creator won't cut him any slack... after all she's had him go through and forced him to do.
Another way for Snape to have lived. Thank you.

excellent one shot.
I wish they had a way to send this directly from the sight to someone else.
But alas it's copy/paste time.
Thank you.

Very nice, very plausible. The conclusions you have drawn about the symbolic references border on genius. Thank you for sharing!Now...on to Chapter 2...when Snape awakens from the Draught and goes looking for an as-yet-unmarried Hermione, to at last explore his forbidden love.Off you go...time to write.

LOL. I might well use this fic as a jumping off point for future fics, but we'll have to see what the Muse wishes to bless me with and where She wishes to go. Since I write both het and slash, it could be anywhere. :)
Wow, I liked your notes at the end almost more than the fic, and the fic is beautiful.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you, that's kind. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome! You've managed to be as ambiguous as Jo about Snape's death.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you, that's flattering.
Wow, that was incredible, especially that bit about asphodel in the end. I thought, however, that the "look at me" part was due to Snape wanting to see Lily's eyes before he dies?
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Please don't take this as a criticism of your interpretation, because it may well be that is what Rowling had in mind, however, I refute the theory (and Rowling's assertions if she chooses to make them) because I feel there is simply a more compelling and logical reason for his action. Snape has always been a complex and unsentimental character. So for him to stare at Harry's eyes as he dies because they remind him of Lily has to be only a tiny part of his reason, if that is even the reason at all. With the sole exception of the memory where Dumbledore provides the information about the Horcrux within him, the other memories Snape gave Harry weren't necessary. This very fact alone, as well as the content of those extra memories of Lily, is more than enough self-revelation to provide a poignancy, an emotional resonance, to his death.
I find it far more compelling to believe the desperate Snape is hoping against hope that Harry will not merely examine his memories, but will "look at him", as no one really ever did -- as a human being with feelings -- and not merely tar him with the black mark of having been a Death Eater. To look at him, and in so doing, to learn of his mother and his aunt (Harry's only family) in a way no one else had ever known them -- as children who had to come to terms with the magical world. To look and see that his own childhood had been as bad as Harry's, but that he never had the support, the love, Harry had. That, despite his bad choices, he was still a good man, even if he had been harsh. To ensure Harry, who he has spent most of his life protecting for little gain and a great deal of pain, will understand the significance of his memories and, perhaps, gain his understanding.
Long-winded of me, for which I apologize, but that is my reasoning. I'm glad you enjoyed the fic. Thank you for commenting. :)
Simply splendid; and I particularly like that you leave it open-ended.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you. This will probably become my "kicking off" fic for other post-DH Snape fics. I'm really glad Rowling left us wiggle room in this regard. :)
Response from Bambu (Reviewer)
I feel exactly the same way about the wiggle room. I think a number of us are staking our 'kicking off' points in our need to replace canon with a plausible alternative. I look forward to seeing what else you choose to do from here.
Beautifuly done, I love the symbolism ,explained so well in the authors notes; and the retelling of the first lesson. Thank you for a very thought provoking piece.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
I never received notification for this (and others') feedback, so apologies for the lateness of response. I'm glad you enjoyed the symbolic elements. I appreciate your comments.

Well done! I think we should just ignore the 'interview canon' and hold on to the possibility that Snape somehow managed to cheat death. The post A/N was very interesting as well. Thanks for sharing.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you found it interesting. I totally ignore whatever JKR says in between books. IMHO, canon is what is written within the series *only*, not whatever opinion she holds forth nor in any compendium that comes after. She wrote her saga, and now, Snape's fate lies in goodhearted, kind, loving hands (his fans)... quite probably for the first time in his beleaguered, difficult life.
I thought I had already reviewed this, but perhaps the reason I still had it in "to be read" was because I didn't have time. At any rate, I love the idea of him taking the Draught of Living Death for all the symbolic reasons you mention and the hope that leaves for him to survive.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I'm glad you liked the idea.
boo :Dthat was awesome!! i especially like the irony of the potion you had him use...i never knew about that kind of lily. that's really neat.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thanks. Well, Rowling and I have one thing in common - we both like symbolism. :)
That is really nice, if snape does die, he goes at peace. Also I like your take on Snape's first question to Harry. Very clever.
Response from odogoddess (Author of Full Circle)
Thank you.
