With less than a month to go before publication of the last book, will this be how it ends up for Severus and Hermione?

A published Aussie author for a number of years now, I decided to dabble in the waters of HP fanfic for the first time. I hope my stories are acceptable.
Reviews for Sound of the Rain
I loved the story, even if Severus died. I knew he was marked for death in HBP, simply because I loved the character. I believed he was a good guy even though he killed the head master. The best part for me was how he died in your story. He died a hero, striking revenge for both Albus and Lilly and he died for love. JKR truely disappointed me with the lame way she killed him off, his sacrafices all but forgotten, no body to mourn, no portrait to honnor him as a headmaster only a comment 19 years later to Harry's son Albus Severus saying he was probably the bravest man he knew.

Thank you so much for your nice comments! Yes, I agree his sacrifice in canon was handled very poorly. You might also like my story, also posted on this site, titled "The Tribute". It follows canon, but shows how Harry dealt with making sure Severus had his portrait put up with all the other Hogwarts Headmasters, as was (I believe, anyway) his right. I wrote it about a week after finishing "Deathly Hallows" and was still in shock and mourning!I also have another story concerning Severus, it's called "Back To Basics", again on this site, and again, it follows canon. (Kinda sorta, anyway!) You can see I also love the character! Thanks again!Alison
Holy crap! Your battle was very well thought out, the modern technology, germs, amazing. When Severus gave her the felix I just knew she would give it Harry. ((Sniffles)) you have made me cry.

Sorry I made you cry! I wrote that story about a month before "Deathly Hallows" came out, and I wanted to mix sci-fi with fantasy and see what would happen. I'm glad you thought it worked! Thanks for your comments.

Beautifully written, tragic ending. I loved it!

Oh, that was so sad. One of the few fics to ever make me want to cry!

It's nice to know my story touched you that much! I did think of making the ending happy, ie Hermione managed to kill the snake in the end, but I felt the tragic ending fitted the story mood better. Thanks for your comments!

Wonderful story...but I hope you'll forgive me if I hope that it doesn't end like this at all...
Response from Alison (Author of Sound of the Rain)
Me too! I have a personal "happy-ever-after" to that story in my head, but felt the tragic ending worked better for posting. In my happy version, Hermione manages to kill Nagini before Voldemort gets hit with the Killing Curse, leaving him nowhere to go but Hell! And then Hermione runs over to Severus, they embrace, cue credits ...Thanks for the comment!Alison
Aw, how romantically heart-wrenching! Great story!
I thought this was really well done. As always, I hoped for a happy ending, but that was not the case here. And truly, I don't see how you could have ended it any other way. Thoughtful and insightful, it makes we wonder how much of what you wrote will come out in The Deathly Hallows. Thanks for an interesting read!

! I love getting feedback, especially positive feedback. I did imagine a happy ending at first, but yes, the sad ending "fitted" the story far better. And I felt that all the mention of the "Unbreakable Vow" in HBP was just a foreshadowing, and that we will see Severus made the same vow to Dumbledore re Harry in "Deathly Hallows".
