I have been a fan of HP fanfiction since early 2005. That summer I discovered Bambu's fabulous "Guard... Check... Mate" here at TPP and realized that there were actually people out there who agreed with me that Dumbledore was NOT an inherently positive figure, that Dumbledore was manipulative and in many cases just as disrespectful of human life as Voldemort. I'd not thought of pairing Hermione and Severus, but suddenly it seemed so obvious!
And I've been stuck here every since!

I have faith that in the 3rd chapter Hermione and Severus will finally have their s#*t together and decide they belong with each other. Great stuff, I really wish that Hermione had hexed Molly(that's one woman that really thinks too much of herself). Please update soon, I'm looking forward to the conclusion. Interesting writing style, I'm still not sure if I like so much crammed into one segment.

I like this first chapter. Its a nice introduction and I am interested to read of the interaction between the two at Hogwarts.

It surprises me that Ginny is such a doormat, but then again she has always desperately wanted Harry--I guess to the exclusion of her pride and self-respect. Looking forward to more--I like the soothing side of Severus.

I have always felt Ginny was a doormat when it comes to Harry. She had such a crush on him when she was younger, a sort of hero worship, so I don't know that I trust her feelings to be real for him as an adult. Plus, Harry may have been forced to be an adult in many ways, but in others he will always be a child. I think romance is one of those areas he will be slow to develop.

I loved this! One of the things I really loved was that this story is made about two brilliant minds who fullfill eachother llike we know our Hermione/Severus would do, without going through that, after a while, rater boring beginning of "Know-It-All & Greasy Git". I felt sorry for Hermione, not for loosing Ron, that was a blessing, but because of the other socalled friends who let her down! Anyone with two braincells would have known not to believe Ron, for them to do so proved Severus points that she was better off without them!I absolutely loved Severus description of Ron and Pancy's future children, it was so on the mark and so well spooken that my toes curled in joy:-)) I look forward to see your next update, I am so impressed by this first chapter that I hope you will update again soon!

One of my betas loves Ron, so I always try to torture her by pairing him with anyone she would feel squicky over. Pansy is one person that never fails to make her cringe. I have to admit, I cringe too.
As I have reread the books in preparation of the last one being released, I began to notice how even though Hermione is included in the group, it almost seems like they just put up with her, and don't really care as much as they do about others. And of course, in any disagreements Ron and Harry have sided with each other. I think it would be realistic for the group to take sides against Hermione if there was a messy breakup.

hehehe I can see Snape relaxing slightly in private around Hermione after they have been working together for some time. Making a sarcastic quip like that seems like something he would do around those he trusts and feels comfortable with.

My friend had challenged me to practice writing all dialogue and all narration so I decided I might as well upload it. I may take it down and redo the story in the future, after I have finished my long WiP. Thank you!

I understand that you're not completely satisfied with your story, but I thing it was very well done considering that you were trying to write a dialogue based story.Writing an all narrative story will probably leave you with the same feeling of "something's not quite right." As an exercise in writing style I thought you did well. All that remains, I think from reading your other replies, is to marry the two. I haven't read another of your stories, yet, but I will look for them.I enjoyed this fluff-filled story!Beth

Thank you... and you are right that I did this mainly as an exercise. My regret was not blending the two in the story once the exercise was over, but then again I am one of those who will always find something to change in my story. LOL... I just had to push it out the door and forget it!
Well these were unexpected surprises: Draco and Ginny and Hermione and Blaise.I'm happy that Molly knows the truth about her youngest son, and that Molly made her apologies to Hermione.Nicely done. Now I go to the next chapter to see how everything is resolved. Beth

I like to add pairs that many people don't think to look for. I think it really gives you the opportunity to find a pair that you can truly relate to. Sometimes the minor characters have the most compelling connections and stories.
I like the relationship that developed between Severus and Hermione. After she caught Ron being Ron, it was through her mentor that she found a touchstone to which she could anchor her thoughts and her will to persevere and succeed. It will be fun to watch the development of their friendship as they work together to solve the current conundrum.Very well written.Beth
