Finally!!! Big cudos for pointing out one of the main points every woman needs to learn about men: Making him jealous doesn't work. For a man making a woman jealous often works, but the other way around, never. I worked as a waitress on a discoteque in my youth and every night I saw at least one woman try the 'making him jealous'-trick. I can also reveal that I saw it work in exactly zero cases. Girls, read the wise words from Harry herein and be warned.
I'll now continue to read this very promising story.
I could so easily see Harry and Hermione as a couple. They're a much better choice than Ron/Hermione or even Ginny/Harry, and you write them so wonderfully together. I love their concept of 'just practice.' ::snicker::

I totally agree with you on the pairing issue. Ron/Hermione could only end in desaster, and Harry/Ginny just doesn't feel right. Harry/Hermione does.
Although I must say I much prefer Gryffindor/Slytherin pairings. ^-^

::laughs:: Despite what I read, I write Gryffindor/Slytherin pairings for the most part -- they have such great, explosive dynamics! I will look forward to more of this story from you. I was too tired last night to tell you how believably you've expressed the hormones-over-conscience aspect of Harry and Hermione's coupling. It's actually a wonderful way for each of them to lose their virginity ... regardless of how their relationships pan out.
I have never read H/Hr and I think you made me a convert - prefer the Gryff/Slyth. Gah. Lions abound!

Ah, but how do we know this didn't happen? I mean, Harry wouldn't tell JKR, would he? And even if he did, the series are children's books, so of course she wouldn't include this episode. But who knows what's going on behind the scenes? *grins*

Well, in theory it's still a one-shot. Only it's too long to post in one go (about 30 pages in word). That's why it's coming in chapters.
Of course I didn't consider the added benefit of introducing cliffies.

Great writing and very believable situation. Love that Hermione is a bit self depreciating but is reassured by Harry's "excitement". I have always thought that Harry and Hermione would be an excellent couple.
