Thanks for stopping by. I'm off to stir my cauldron.
Reviews for Pansy's Baby
Wow... too bad!!!
Wow. Yes, I enjoyed this story. I already told you that I haven't read Kate Chopin's story; if I find the time, I will, and thanks for providing the link. And I must say that this was incredibly well-written. I had all the background I needed early on, and quickly became completely engrossed. Luckily, the kids didn't bother me, but if they had, I doubt I would have heard them. For anyone reading the reviews first, this is definitely a must-read!
Super. I do love your thought process when you create these turnpike tales of twisting loyalties and emotions. My report is being owl'd immediately.Norbet xxx
This story is very sad, but I can so see Draco acting that way, and blaming Pansy when he actually knows it comes from his side of the family. Good job!
...wow.
It's such a sad story (I don't know the original). Everyone is a victim here, Draco has learned from his parents the way they most likely did from theirs. Writing like this often makes me assess my own prejudices. Am I kidding myself when I say I don't discriminate? I'm not sure, but it's great to think about.Thank you.
this was a very interesting take on the 'desiree's baby' story. your twist at the end was fantastic. great job!
I looked up Desiree's Baby before reading this--this adapts remarkably well to the HP universe. Maybe better, since its more plausible I think they might come to gradually realize their child is a squib than realize the child was of mixed black/white heritage in Chopin's story. I can certainly understand why the theme would haunt you--it will certainly be quite a while before your story leaves me. Very well done.
I'm left speechless with this story.... and am left with that sick feeling I get with issues of prejudice today.Well-written and heartwrenching.
That was absolutely captivating and I hope you'll consider writing a chaptered fic with this as the background
I like it, I'm interested to see what happens next, I do hope you continue with it.
Excellent work, SW. This is one of those stories that stays with you for a while. Poor baby Lucas.
You know, I read this, and all I could think was, WOW. You did a great job here.
Wow. I suppose that would be a touchy subject, almost more so if Pansy truly had been a pureblood. But then, she might have had the same outlook as Draco about it ...The ending caught me a little by surprise, with Narcissa's letter, though looking at her complexion such an explanation makes sense. Great job, I enjoyed it ... as much as one can enjoy such a story.
Well written, and really sad. The prejudice against half-bloods and Muggle-borns reminds me a lot of whites who think people of other colours are inferior *sigh*. Been there, done that, still don't understand how people can even think that just because someone's skin colour is prettier than theirs means they're worth less.
And so the son repeats the mistakes of his mother. Or is it a moral decsion to call it a mistake? Oh the tangled web you weave. I like the story. It made me think.
Prejudice and intolerance is all around us. I find it interesting that people don't think about the harm it does to our society. I also wonder what these people would feel like if the shoe were on the other foot.
I've experienced prejudice against me, and it is a horrible thing for one person to do to another.
Great story, and I like that you turned the tables a bit here. I do have a question, just to make sure I'm reading things correctly.
Is Draco hoping that his squib servant will produce a magical heir?
Response from Southern_Witch_69 (Author of Pansy's Baby)
Oh, no, that's not what I meant. I only intended for him to be shagging her and showing that he's a bit cold-hearted, only worrying about putting the blame on Pansy instead of embracing his true heritage. It's my firm belief that the son's "problem" is from Draco's side, not that he'd ever admit it. Pride and all that, the prat.I know that Squibs could have magical children and that just because someone has a Muggle or Squib in their family doesn't mean they can't have all magical kids. I was just twisting that detail a bit (sort of using magical ability as color is used for us).

Great job you did too chica.
Wow. That was thoroughly touching. It's been awhile since I read Desiree's Baby, but this has certainly brought it back.
We tend to take the wizarding version of bloodline prejudice lightly (well, it is fictional), but it's certainly a good parallel to our world as it was back then and is today.
Applause to you and Kate!
Oh poor old Pansy and baby Lucas. What a nasty piece of work Draco is...Perhaps he is too worried that his own heritage being found out!
