A published Aussie author for a number of years now, I decided to dabble in the waters of HP fanfic for the first time. I hope my stories are acceptable.

Well written. Just one minor problem: Dumbledore was a Gryffindor.

Admittedly it's been a while since I read the earlier Potter books. Which one is it mentioned in? I've read a lot of fanfic where he's assumed to be Gryffindor, but couldn't remember ever seeing it confirmed in any of the novels. Any info would be appreciated!Alison

The first book, chapter six I believe. A good source for information like this is the Lexicon. They are a great tool for writing fanfiction, as they save rereading through all the books, and if they don't have the information you want, have listings where to find it to narrow the search.

Thanks for that - you're right! It's the scene on the train where they first meet Hermione. She says: "I hope I'm put into Gryffindor, I hear Dumbledore was one." So it seems my whole story premise was wrong - oh well! I still enjoyed writing it - I like the thought of Dumbledore confouding the expectations of all the more "glamorous" houses and get put into Hufflepuff instead.Alison
Very interesting. I've only recently got into reading genfic, and your ending was cool.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it!
Now that was cute. I had no idea who it was under the Hat until the end. A couple people went through my mind, but not that character. Good job!

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I wanted to keep the readers guessing as to identity.Alison
what a suprise! looking back, though, that description really sums up Dumbledore's character. nice job!
