Hot Chocolate

She caught his eye, and her gaze lingered for a second longer than it should have and Harry noticed. “What’s up Hermione?”

“Err… nothing.”

“Are you sure? Recently you’ve been looking up at the Head Table a lot during mealtimes.”

“I’m sure.”

“If you say so then.”

“I do.”

“Good.”

“Indeed.”

A pregnant pause followed. “I know why she keeps looking over there!” announced Ron. She turned her head so fast that she got whiplash.

“Why?” asked Harry.

“Cause she keeps stealing glances at Flitwick!” exclaimed Ron, a bit louder than he had meant to. The whole table fell silent and looked at them. Hermione went bright red and Professor Flitwick, having heard his name, smiled at them. This only served to fuel the hilarity of the situation.

She glanced at him for the second time that meal. He was livid. She gathered her things and left, amid cheers and laughter from both the Slytherin and Gryffindor tables. She went to the library in search of refuge. Bloody wonderful, she thought miserably. Someone sat down beside her. She only looked up when he began to stroke her hair gently. A tear rolled down her cheek and fell onto the table.

“Ssssh. There’s no need to cry,” his silky voice said soothingly.

She looked at him with red puffy eyes.

“Here, I have something for you, only don’t let Madam Pince see.” He placed a small cup in front of her.

She looked at the cup and a smile broke out across her tear-stained face. “My favourite,” she said.

He looked at her, love shown clearly in his eyes. “Hot chocolate,” was the reply.

A/N: This one-shot is random. I was bored and so Mrs_D_Radcliffe gave me a title that I had to write a story for. She has given me many more random titles, and I will hopefully submit them.
