After many years away, and many forays into other fandoms, I'm back to my roots. The Granger-Snapes!

The scene in this chapter where Severus is describing the surroundings to Hermione and his subsequent tears have really moved me. The despair and emotion are rolling off the screen in waves. A wonderfully descriptive chapter and the development of their relationship is marvellous. Your understanding and creative approach to Hermione's sightlessness is second to none and I applaud the way you have the characters dealing with their interaction whilst encompassing the impact that Visual Impairment after trauma has on people both physically, emotionally and spiritually. Kudos for you! Blessings and a box of Kleenex!

Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoy the story and I appreciate the face that this story has meaning for other people as well as myself. Blindness is something that affects more than just the person suffering from it. But sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise. ~The Mistress
*happy sigh*

I've always thought that was the best way to deal with the Weasley children, threaten to tell Molly! ~The Mistress
Good for Harry, to tell Ron the truth. And yes, tell Molly! (BTW, is this "his country home" or Minerva's?) Thanis for giving S&H some time away from London!
Response from themistresssnape (Author of Always)
No, it's Minerva's. Severus' house is near the city... I think it's Birmingham but I can't quite remember. It's in chapter 2, I do remember that. ~The Mistress
Started out crying and ended up laughing. Whew I really needed that tonight. Real life can suck pretty bad sometimes. Thanks for the update.

Thanks so much! ~The Mistress
LOL, yay for Harry setting Ron straight. He might not like the idea of Severus and Hermione together, but he's got the presence of mind to know that his friend is happy with him.I hope Severus can find a cure for her.

I figured it was about time for Harry and Ron to pop up again, and I just needed a bit of comic relief and Ron was happy to oblige! ~The Mistress

I'm working on the next chapter. I hope to update in a couple days. ~The Mistress
I'm so happy that Harry told Ron to behave. Great chapter. I love Snape's determination.

I've always found Severus to be a very focused, passionate person about what is important to him. I think helping Hermione see again is all he thinks about sometimes. (WOW, that sounded very strange.) ~The Mistress
I know I'm late to the party but 'as you wish' Princess Bride :) Oh I'm Slytherin House
Response from themistresssnape (Author of Always)
Hey, I'm still throwing out house points. 100 to Slytherin!

Princess Bride! Wesley! Buttercup! I win! (That's my favourite love story, btw) Oh, I am enjoying this fic!

Very good, take five House Points for (what house are you?). (Psst, I have to be careful about points, Severus will be very stern with me if I give too many to Gryffindors). Thanks so much for reading!~The Mistress
I have really enjoyed your story so far. I wish you had given us some background on how Severus had come to watch over Hermione. It took 7 chaps. for you to even mention that he had quit teaching. What made him decide to devote himself to her? I'll be honest, I didn't like this chapter. I thought it was way too overdramatic and the dialogue a bit cliched compared to the rest of the story. When you first jumped to him being so disappointed that all of his experiments had failed and he was ready to give up, I would have thought a few weeks had passed, but then you note that they had onlybeen in the country for 2 days. He's a scientist, I doubt he would have jumped in without meticolous research first and would be accostomed to the long scientific process. The dialogue that followed there just seemed to come out of nowhere especialy the line that ..if being blind was the price she had to pay....Afte he has watched her for all these years and they have both admitted their love while she was blind, what set up do you give us to think he would leave her now?
I also wished you had given us more background on why Hermione is so reclusive. As she grew up in the Muggle world, she would have had some exposure to blind people and be aware that in the Muggle world they live normal lives. As the girl who started Spew, why isn't she doing more for herself? Except for the brail, there is no mention at all of her learning other skills. Why hasn't she looked at getting a cane and use some spells to help her adapt to her physical world. How about a guide dog? This is almost deameaning to people who are blind. Even Mad-Eye had a glass eye? I don't mind Sev being out ooc, but you don't give us any background to accept such a weak, ooc Hermione.
Also, how is it the Minerva has a Muggle Radio in her house; why wasn't it just a Wizarding Wireless?
I really do like your story, but wish yo had fleshed it out more with some background so we could understand the change in character.

I'm sorry you didn't like this one. I didn't mean it to be demeaning to anyone, it is just that in my mind, everything hit Hermione at once. It was crushing, she didn't want to go any further, she only wanted enough energy to get through the day. As for Severus giving up so quickly, it was his heart getting in the way of his scientific logic. And I don't see anything wrong with Minerva having a muggle radio in her home, maybe she just wanted to escape into a different world for a while? This part is all about the loss of confidence (explaining why Hermione didn't learn any spells, etc.). There are things that can crush even the strongest spirit. Trust me, I've seen it happen. I hope that you find my other works a bit more enjoyable, and I'm sorry I disappointed. ~The Mistress
gryfinndor here and It's the princess bride!!

Well, you got it right, so I guess I owe you House points then don't I? But, of course, I'm a slytherin so...take 10 and get out of the dungeons before I give you detention!! he he
