A/N: Well, this is it guys. My first fanfic is coming to a close. *tear* I had so much fun writing it, and I’ve already started working on my second fanfic. Thank you so much to those of you who read it. And a big hug to all those who reviewed it, I really appreciate it. So now, without further delay, I present the conclusion of Sleepless Nights. EnJoY!

Chapter 9

Forever

Hermione was standing over the crib of her sleeping angel. Just three months ago, she had given birth to their little baby boy. They had named him Siyamak after the centaur that helped bring them together, but they called him Yama for short. She couldn’t believe how quickly time had gone by. It had already been four years since she had graduated from Hogwarts.

A wedding ceremony had been held by the lake at Hogwarts six months after the graduation. Severus and Hermione had promised each other their eternal love and devotion until death parted them. Although Severus pointed out to her afterwards that they would be together even after death.

“You’ll be stuck with me in the after-life, too, dear,” he had said, “because there’s no way I’m letting you go, death or no death.” Hermione had cherished those words, and she always would.

Now with a child in their life, the couple did not have as much time alone together, but life had gained so much more meaning. They loved Yama more than anything life had ever given them. As Hermione was tenderly stroking her fingers through his black hair, she noticed something.

“Oh Merlin!” she said, just above a whisper, so as not to wake the baby.

“Is something the matter, love?” said a soft silky voice. Hermione turned to see that Severus had been watching her from the doorway.

“Yes!” she replied a little frantically, but still whispering. “His hair! His hair is… ” Severus walked over to the crib to look at their son more closely.

“Hermione,” he whispered, “there is absolutely nothing wrong with his hair.”

“Yes, there is, Severus!” She looked at her baby with concern. “Look at it! It’s starting to curl and frizz! Little Yama has my hair!” Severus chuckled and looked at Yama again.

“You’re right, love,” he said as he led his wife away from the crib and into their own room before she managed to wake Yama up. “It looks like our little boy will have curly black hair. I think it will suit him.”

“Suit him?” she exclaimed. “Severus, the poor child will have a black mop on top of his head! Why are you laughing? I’m serious!” Severus shook his head and kept laughing as he pulled his wife into his arms.

“Hermione, I love your hair,” he said gently as he ran his fingers through her curls, “and I wouldn’t have you or our son any other way.” Hermione laid her head on his chest and let her husband hold her.

“I suppose I am being a little irrational,” she sighed, “but think of it this way: what if he had gotten your nose?”

“He didn’t.”

“But what if he had?”

“I would have transfigured it,” Severus replied plainly. Hermione lifted her head and gave her husband a mean look.

“You sound like you had already thought about it.” Hermione kept staring at him accusingly, and he shrugged. “You have thought about it! Severus Snape don’t you dare tell me that you considered transfiguring our son!”

“Alright, I won’t tell you,” he said with a smirk. Hermione pushed him away and stormed over to their bed. She roughly pulled back the sheets and got in. Severus moved around the bed and got in as well. He moved towards Hermione, who had her back to him, and wrapped his arms around her. He placed gentle kisses on her neck and slowly made his way to her earlobe. Severus had discovered a while back that her earlobes were ticklish, and he never failed to use it to his advantage.

“Severus, don’t you dare!” warned Hermione. “I’m mad at you!” But Severus ignored her and continued his journey to her ear. He flicked his tongue out and gently teased her. Hermione tried desperately not to laugh, but it only took a few seconds for her to give in. She turned around in her husband’s arms and kissed him. After three and a half years of marriage, his kisses still took her breath away.

“You’re insufferable, Severus,” she giggled as she pulled away. “Why can I never stay mad at you?”

“Because you love me,” he purred as he kissed her shoulder.

“I do love you, Severus,” she whispered as she moved deeper into his embrace.

“I love you, too, Hermione, now and forever.”

“Promise?”

“You’re stuck with me, love. We’ll be together forever, whether you like it or not.” Severus lowered his head to capture her lips in a deep, passionate kiss that conveyed far more than words ever could. Both of them knew that no matter what life threw their way, be it centaur curses or curly hair, that they would always have each other.

Just in case any of you are wondering, Siyamak is Persian for ‘One with Dark Eyes.’ I got it off an online translation dictionary, so I apologize if that isn’t right (for those of you who know Persian, lol).
