Mostly Harmless! Though I have to admit, I'm even stranger than I appear. ;-) There's a pile of unbeta'd stuff on my LJ (dracfic) if you're interested in Raw, Untamed, fanfic.
Believe it or not, "How Argus Filch Got Wild, Got Laid, and Got His Magic" has been rec'ed by Know It Alls! It's true! They gave me this pretty lil' ribbon and everything! And in March 2007, they saw fit to likewise reccommend (as an antidote to angst) the story that started it all, 'Courtesy of Your Fairy God-Jarvey'--just in time for the first anniversary of that story's posting! *hugs Harm*
(I also have to admit that 'mostly harmless' may not be the most apt description of a member of the Mad Chatters...)
Finally, I just have to say... Storyville. If you were there, you know what I mean.Reviews for A New Deal: Fog Lifts
Quite a few years back, I participated in a round of the 20 Random Facts Fest on LJ. I picked Scorpius. I swear, your Scorpius in the Credit Universe, is mostly the one I envisioned personality-wise. I LOVE him. Absolutely ADORE him.
Your young man is even more poignant because he is economically disadvantaged and so very gracious in his poverty. So very different than Ron at the same age, which Ron more than notices here.
I am also adoring your Ron here. I didn't like him in the "EWE?", but you've managed to allow him to reach his potential. I can see Hermione with this version of Ron.
I am so very glad I stumbled upon this series. It warms my soul and has made my day. Thank you!

Thank you most kindly! I sort of see fanfiction as an exercise in bringing out the wasted potential in the characters. It's good to know I was successful. (Scorpius is a very popular fellow--my kids insisted on a rag doll of him to join their existing dollies. Of course, since Al and Scorpius are inseparable, an Al doll soon followed... the rag doll corner has been extra lively since!)
love it.. like scorpius & ron's scene the most.. great job!

Thank you! I couldn't resist the image of those two sitting next to each other and it rather snowballed.
This was absolutely fabulous. I LOVED Ron & Scorpius' chat. Kudos!!!

Thank you most kindly! I had a mental image of those two sitting on a bench, so mismatched, and it begged me to figure out what they were talking about. :)
This was lovely. I am glad all worked well between Ron and Scorpius and it seems Harry and Draco have renewed their friendship, which is good.I do hope you will give us more of these vignettes, it's such a delight to read about all these precious characters. I for instance would like to see how the visits to each others families will go for all children.

O and one other thing: I very much like the way Ron, Harry and Draco have been able to become their best selves, despite everything that has happened both in and after the war. Especially your characterization of Ron is one of the few in which I can really see him with Hermione. He might not be intellectual but he is streetwise, kind and funny.Your hippogryf metaphor was especially funny - and adequate- regarding the fact they are both Purebloods, even if Ron doesn't act like one most times.

Thank you dearly! One of the things that bothered me the most about the source material is the lack of genuine adults (thank goodness those original kids at least had Molly and Arthur to look up to). Despite the apparent prevailing wisdom, I think that they are a very key component a world seen through the eyes of children, and I'm glad to have succeeded in making these fit the bill. :DRight now Rose wants me to write some Quidditch (and goodness knows how I'll manage THAT), but visiting is definitely on the schedule.

I totally agree and I am glad with the wonderful parents you have created. And writing about Quidditch.. in the end it all comes down to their passionate feelings about the game and about playing in the same team together. I don't think it's so much about the rules of the game.By the way, are you also planning to update us about the rekindling of the friendship between Draco and Harry? I know this is not something that is developing within the view of the children so it might need some place outside these vignettes but all the same I am still very curious how their relationship will evolve.
I just love Ron in this story! You have done a brilliant job with him, kept all his foibles while still making him a likeable person. And I really like the connection he makes with Scorpius. You have outdone yourself here!
Response from dracontia (Author of A New Deal: Fog Lifts)
Thank you very much! I felt the connection between them so strongly myself that I had to devote a story to it. :)
I love all these little sequels. Keep em coming!

Thank you! I'm sorry to say I'm a bit stuck on the series lately, but I'm resolved to keep trying.

Oops!
I almost felt sorry for Ron, listening to Scorpius talking about how hurt Rose has been, by Ron's attitude. It was great to see scorpius' sweetness and honesty win Ron over. the hippogrifs were genius.
Response from dracontia (Author of A New Deal: Fog Lifts)
The adults in Scorpius' world have been through quite a bit; it never hurts to feel some compassion for their failings. Fortunately--for all of them--Scorpius has a way with difficult magical creatures. ^_^ Thank you as always for your insights and review!
love all your little glimpses into their world
Response from dracontia (Author of A New Deal: Fog Lifts)
Thank you very much! (and I'm sorry it takes me forever to answer reviews)
Loooooved it! Especially where the similarities between Ron and Scorpius cropped up. And the comparison of Ron and Draco to male hippogriffs was hilarious! Keep up the good work. ^_^
Response from dracontia (Author of A New Deal: Fog Lifts)
Thank you kindly for reviewing! I should try to find a way to share Scorpius' insights with the adults in his life--they likely wouldn't be flattered by the comparison, to the amusement of everyone else...( <--what Ron & Draco think of being compared to hippogriffs)
This is so great! I loved Draco and Ron as mutually suspicious hippogriffs circling each other. (And somehow I think they'd be about equally annoyed by Scorpius's metaphor!) I'm loving these little snapshots.
Response from dracontia (Author of A New Deal: Fog Lifts)
I believe you are entirely correct that they would not be amused at the comparison--all the more reason to make it known to them someday! Thank you for reviewing :)
Your stories are like fine port. Hope my compliments don't make your head swell too much but I can re-read and re-read particularly this one-shots 5-6 times in 5 mins and yet still Savour the Burgeoning fullness and different facets each time! God's love is something like that. :))
Response from dracontia (Author of A New Deal: Fog Lifts)
I think my head will be in danger of swelling the day I am actually paid to writing something. Until then, humble circumstances are a great incubator of humility. LOL!Thank you kindly for such effusive reviews.
