If he were to kiss her now, she would doubtless taste of onions and sugar, her lips butterscotch-sticky and sweet.

Reviews for Fireworks
Beautiful, thank you.
This is definitely one of my favorite one shots. It's great. :D
Nicely done, and everything after the last firework is beautifully satisying, leaving me in that warm and snug contentment--particularly his acknowlegement that he'll eventually agree to come when she visits her friends, and then those last few lines. The rest is good, too, with other lovely moments, but sitting here at the end that's what lingers.

I'll agree that the middle part is mostly smut, so I'm glad the later part drew you in. I love the thought that any part of this fic would stay with you :)

Wonderful job. You've captured them so beautifully. I love how you set the scene and spin the tale. You show that Severus for all his strength at having survived everything is still so vulnerable inside. And Hermione who has always had to be the strong one, taking care of things, of the trio, can now let someone take care of her for a change. Wonderful, wonderful job, my dear! Thank you.

Thank you so much! This piece was all about showing vulnerabilities, so I'm glad you enjoyed it!

They join the slow procession back through the fair to the gate and the street-lit road beyond. Catching his hand in hers, she brings it to her lips, pressing a careful kiss to his damp fingers."Yes," she tells him."Yes?" They've not spoken since the first rockets were launched, filling the sky with sparks."Yes," she agrees. "To anything. Everything. The answer is always yes."Yes, Severus, a thousand times yes. Hermione wants and needs you just as much as you do her. Thank you for this lovely story–so lovingly written. We should all be so fortunate as these two lovers.Beth

Thank you, Beth, for such a lovely review. I must admit, I adore these characters! Writing them like this is simple wish fulfilment.

This is so moving. So incredibly, achingly moving I am still reeling from it.I can see the tired village green (having attended many a fun fair in the Tooting area, as you can imagine), hear the noises, wrinkle my nose at the smells in the air. Your set up is so perfect, your imagery so vivid and knowing. And then, there is Severus - how can your heart not ache for him? Still broken, still the boy learning, struggling to become the man forever denied by his two harsh masters. Wanting and doubting and hoping - God, he can tear me apart. And you have captured him like a dragonfly in amber - perfectly, eternally. And Hermione, learning to accept she doesn't have to be She-Who-Must-Not-Let-Everyone-Down, but just be herself, and adore her man. Two flawed people - so vulnerable and yet both so trusting, so wanting this sweet feeling to be real and lasting. This has moved me to tears. Not an ounce of fat on it, not a word out of place. Just a beautiful love song to this pairing we love so much. Thank you for sharing.

Teddy, all of me aches for this Severus. This is the first time I've dared to write him like this, but the response to this story makes me think I might dare try again.
There's something unmistakable about the atmosphere at a fair - slightly shabby, over loud, ever so slightly uncomfortable. Once that image lodged itself in my head, the story just wrote itself.
Sharing this has been a joy - thank you again for all your support!

I could smell the greasy food cooking from your discrpition of the fair. I could hear the people laughing and children screaming with delight. Under it all, I could see Hermione's eyes wide with delight and Severus, just that bit afraid that he would wake up from this dream and he'd be alone. The fireworks were delightfully naughty and delicious! I hope her yes was the answer to all his dreams!!

! I could seen the scene perfectly when I was writing this - and smell those fried onions! - and I'm thrilled that it comes across. And that you enjoyed the fireworks

Love the descriptive, poetical prose and narrative; the flow and rhythm of this piece--almost dizzying like Hermione watching the fireworks, and her and Severus moving/being together in the giddy atmosphere of actions going on--love his thoughts and fears and her needs depicted so lovely, again with a whirling but smoothe energy--lovely work!

This is really lovely. Severus's insecurity is almost creepy (if understandable), but since he never shows it, it doesn't quite reach that level. But Hermione, from her closing words, has surely sensed it, and given all the reassurance she can to alleviate it. I wish I were certain that he believed her....

Oh, completely! If Severus acted on his words, he would be as creepy as the boy who used to follow Lily around. While he may come to believe Hermione, I don't doubt that he would question how she could feel that way.

I love how Hermione ended his musings with the answer he needed. So sweet

I think she'd be hard pressed to ever say no to him!
