A sequel to Damned House Elves! by braye27. Severus Snape has done many things under pressure. This is probably the hardest. A tale of ogres, princesses, and magic beans....

Thank you! *Bows very low and grins* S pleased you enjoyed it!!! Pxx
This story had me giggling out loud. From Libby's description of Star Wars to Severus's awkward fairy tale, this was a truly heartwarming and funny fic. It fits very well with braye's source story. Really well done!

Damned House-Elves had me giggling helplessly and led me into thinking that a couple who could... um... share, so to speak, with good humour would probably end up living happily ever after. Thank you for confirming my suspicions in such a creative, innocent, funny and warm way. Beans will never be seen in the same light ever again.

This is a brilliant sequel to the original story. I love the narrative voice you chose here, and Severus is rather endearing in his embarrassment.

Thank you, Dreamy! I am so pleased you liked this story. I enjoyed writing it very much, although it was a challenge to do. More than anything I wanted the child's 'voice' not to be soppy. I spent some time working with seven year olds and they were absolutely not soppy. Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me! Pxx
You make me love you more and more with every story I read. Braye's story cracked me up when I read it, and this was a great sequel. The whole thing was great, but here are my favorites, I think:Her grandfather stared at her with his I-can’t-believe-that-you-are-part-of-my-family look ...I can completely see this look, and I think he may well use it often, lol. Daddy says that they are educational.”“Educational? How, exactly?” he said sarcastically.“Well, I know more about ogres than you do from watching tele,” Libby responded promptly ...I love the way she reacts to his story. It is completely how kids are, and I love how flustered he gets from all of her comments. Then, I was totally waiting for this question, and it finally came:Then the penny dropped. Libby could feel her eyebrows arch so highly up her forehead that it hurt. “Grandpapa! Are you talking about… sex!” she blurted out, shocked.Poor guy! I will admit laughing at his misfortune. This was such a fun read. Well done!

Thanks!! This one was fun to do, once I'd worked out how to write a sequel that didn't retell the same joke of the original, but referenced it as closely as I could. I'm so pleased you liked the jokes. Poor Severus indeed! Best wishes, Pxx

I like it. I think he did tell her the truth as it felt to him.

Lovely sequel, Shrek and Star Wars had me giggling, it's brilliant that the "beans" grow into "fragrant flowers". Adults may be bonkers Libby, but one day you will understand how wonderful it is , that Grandpapa and Grandmama, are still so much in love after all these years.

Bean there, done that! Severus is still endearingly embarrassed about his bodily functions. :)

Oh, yes. I like it very much. And it made me go back and re-read Damned House Elves ( third time ). And that was great, too. Thank you.

*snort* *chuckle* *giggle* *guffaw* *ahem* I read braye27's story when it was first posted, but I read it again this evening and it was even more hilarious the second time around. I love how you took her concept and added to it with Severus' awkward little fairy tale. (The Muggle references to "Shrek" and "Star Wars" weren't bad either.) ^_^
Response from Proulxes (Author of How I Met Your Grandmother)
Glad you liked it! So pleased that you re-read braye's story too - I absolutely could not compete with that so I had to take things in another direction! Thank you so much for taking the time to review!! Pxx

Oh, P--this was thoroughly delightful! The Shrek references had me rolling, but when you inserted Star Wars as well, I think I startled the cats! Out of the mouths of babes...Thank you for posting--hm88

Thank you so much! I am sitting at my desk grinning like a loon. Delighted you enjoyed it, hm88! I hope the cats have recovered and are sneering disdainfully at you for your human weakness! Pxx

There are so many wonderful, warm elements of this that magically weave themselves in and around this fairy-tale yarn--from the child's point of view, then the switching and interaction with grandpa Severus and the wonderful metaphorical tale he tells to Libby, it truly catches one up in an enchanting, sweet (with bittersweet mixed in), loving experience. I love your descriptive narrative and beautiful flow; I mean the following as a compliment--I love Oscar Wilde's fairytales and prose and this for some reason struck me to the core with, again, the wonderful metaphors, language use and back-canon references. Lovely, lovely work as always, but this is a special kind of squishy, yummy, fulfilling read, Pxs!xxx

Thank you, nag! I am so pleased that you enjoyed the story. I'm really delighted that you picked up on the metaphors and that you thought that the flow of the narrative was satisfying (*blushes*). Thank you so much for your review. Pxx

Thank you for this brilliant and heartwarming gift. It melted my heart to look into the future and see what their lives were like with children and grandchildren of their own. I am completely blown away by how you included threads from my original story:•The charm bracelet is fantastic! Thirty-seven years and thirty-seven beans. I can imagine Severus adding a new bean charm for each anniversary of their first date.•Having the "magical beans" grow into beautiful flowers put a big smile on my face. It goes perfectly with when Severus called Hermione his "fragrant flower."Hermione's cherry wood box that is bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside reminded me of her beaded bag. When Grandpapa spoke to Libby from the shadows I clenched like any seven year old who's been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. I cracked up at the child's pronouncement that she was seven and, of course, she knew the meaning of dormount. She reminds me of her grandmamma who was possessed of an adventurous spirit and could never leave a mystery to quietly rest. I loved it when Libby interrupted Severus' somewhat roundabout telling of his fairytale to ask if he was talking about... sex! I do believe she picked up on his sense of embarrassment and put two and two together and got sex. This has been a magical experience for me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. BethPS- Loved it when Severus told his bride 'I thought, my darling princess, that I had'?

I am so pleased that you enjoyed your gift, Beth! It was quite a challenge because I did not want to re-tell your story, but rather, to try to find a way to compliment it. I had a hoot getting as many popular culture references into the story as well! Kid!fic is way, waaaaaay outside my comfort zone, and I am so sorry it took so long to write, but I am so glad that you enjoyed the end result! Thank I again for all your reviews!!! With best wishes, Pxx
Response from braye27 (Reviewer)
I love the references to Severus blushing, those stories that those mad brothers wrote, and the fact that Grandpapa couldn't seem to sit still, having to wriggle his bottom on the seat to get comfortable.

Aw, that was great. And I'm so glad you told us to read the other story first. It brought so much more to this one. Tho' I was expecting Severus to be calling Hermione his 'fragrant flower' after all these years...Thanks!

! I wanted to do a proper sequel - but I could not possibly do a 'fart-fic' ... that joke had been well and truly done by braye. So I came up with the idea of something that deliberately messed about with the reality of how they got together, hopefully to humerous effect! Pxx
