I should think that fourteen months will be a cake walk for our Severus and Hermione. And then I am certain that the hot steamy sex on a very regular basis for the rest of their lives will begin with a determination not seen since the founding of Hogwarts.Thank you for this adorable story!!!

If they work as a team, then two years is not a very long time. They would have to liquidate his house and set up his future business (choose the product offerings and find the customers). That would put a lot on Hermione to be the hands and feet for everything, but it would give her something to do.There is something about having a known endpoint that is very freeing. It is similar to the way a deadline can overcome procrastination.I also think there is something more to be said about the key plot device of the memories. In essence he created a false reality that was indistinguishable from the true reality. It was almost like a psychosis where he splits off part of himself to oversee the process and make sure he keeps track of what is and isn't real. It can't be like a trunk full of fake memories where he rummages through and pulls out what he needs at the time or they would be distinguishable as "fake". For them not to be distinguishable by others, then have to be not distinguishable to himself while still maintaining some kind of role as referee. The difficulty of doing something like this accounts for the point you raised of "no one does this." Not that we know. That falls into the category of the perfect crime. You can't tell if it has been committed, because if you can, it isn't perfect.Yes, yes. I know it is just a story. However, I know a number of people who struggle with schizophrenia and they experience many things that feel like reality that are not objectively real. So I look at Severus as being like a schizophrenic who can somehow not be confused and pulled in by the manufactured realities living alongside his nonmanufactured realities.

That's kind of what was in my mind - a Severus who has this incredible ability to compartmentalise different parts of his life - in this case, they true and false memories. It would certainly explain how he has kept so well and sane in Azkaban, this ability to escape his own mind and engage in exercises of the mind. LOL I'm sorry, I just found the note at the end utterly hilarious. I know that so many folks want a story wrapped up with the happily ever after broadcast clearly, but I am more than willing to imagine it. Poor Severus getting thrown under the Knight Bus like that. Ungrateful bastards. But at least he now has a reason to live.
Oh, Severus, finally showing some human emotion. Come out of that closet and enjoy life.
