In the ten years since the Battle of Hogwarts, Severus Snape has worked very hard to free himself from his old life in order to become a respected Headmaster. Of course, his wife Hermione loves him regardless, but will an innocent board game change the entire future of their marriage, not to mention Severus' view of his own kindler, gentler self?

Reviews for Father Figure
Ok so I have read these last nine chapters and have not reviewd once. Shame on me.Reason being although I have read this in the past I could not get myself to stop and review. I reviewd last time on a different site and I must admit I am once again totally engrossed in this story. This is the one story if I could in real life I would trade places with Hermione in a heartbeat.

I felt bad for Severus that Hermione used her safe word, but my first thought was, Dude give her a break she's new to this. SIGH LOVE IT

Well, there might be a reason... I'm really glad you're enjoying it!

Oh, Severus. *puts head in hands* Why give her a safe word if she isn't supposed to use it? I suspect that he is a bit insecure because he always is at least of hint of that. I suspect he also fears he hurt her, and that is the last thing he wants to do. Hopefully his anger is directed at himself and not her. If he would have just let her stay and explain, but it is more fitting for him to send her away. But if he had, what fun would that be?

LOL Conflict is key! I know. Poor Severus always thinks, "Wonder what it's like to have a quiet life?"

Oh my god what an amazing chapter. I'm curious to know what spooked Hermione and how it will effect their relationship (BTW, can I get a Severus like that for myself? Thanks!)

Oooh, lovely. And by lovely, I mean super hot. And after I stopped feeling all tingly, my thoughts are clear enough to say that the emotion really comes through in this chapter. I know in the absolute that he would never really hurt her. Hermione knows this too, but I found myself all nervous at his bad self right along side her. And the absolute desire from them- his on the surface is in total check, and hers is being flung about with wild abandon- is so palpable. I think it is very telling in the moment where they are in bed and he gives her pain potion. The good guy in him doesn't want to see her hurt, so he gives her something to ease her pain. The bad guy in him is administering it for entirely selfish purposes because he is not done playing and needs her to last. I love that the extremes can exist in him. And in the end, she still has no idea what she has gotten herself into. And really, neither do I, so lets move on, shall we?

LOL I love your comment here. It's so right on the money! Stgulik, my astounding beta and partner in crime, said that his last words should be on his business cards: Severus Snape - I wouldn't get too comfortable.

I agree with HBAR, if you post it, we will read. Wonderful first chapter, love the friendship between the Malfoys and the Snapes, games night sounds like such fun.

First, I have to say that you could do with a "don't read this unless your husband is home" warning. Second, that was a horrible place to leave us.Poor Mr. Orchid has no idea what is going on on the other side of the desk. That gave me the giggles. Doesn't he wonder why the Headmaster is suddenly in such a good mood? Maybe he just doesn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth.Hermione certainly got a good grade on her fantasies. I fear Severus may start to feel like she can outdo him in the creativity department, LOL. Not that I think for a moment he doesn't have a million tricks up his sleeve. At least I hope, anyway. I think it bodes well for me Hermione that he told his colleages that they would be unavailable for the whole weekend. So, what do I have to do to get more chapters? I'm not above begging. I'll promise to leave nice, long reviews. What ever you want, just ... more chapters.
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Father Figure)
Sorry about that! I try to leave good warnings! I will be updating tomorrow - I promise. It's about to get hella intense! ;)
Response from HBAR (Reviewer)
So nagging works ... good to know :) I know I can go elsewhere to read this in it's entirety, but there is something enticing about only getting a bit at a time, and being left to wonder what is next. Plus, if I had the whole thing in front of me, I'd probably stay up all night and I am far too old for that these days. So, even though I will continue to harrass you for chapters, I will be patient-ish. And anyway, if this wasn't so good, I wouldn't be bothering you at all.Hella intense, you say? Bring it on. ;)

Yikes! *fans self* I've read more fanfic than I care to admit to, so I am considering myself an expert in that realm. On the smut front, I've read amazing and horrid and everything in between. I say that because yours is really steamy good. I'm not certain if I can put into words what people do in their writing of explicit content that makes me cringe or makes me melt into a puddle, but whatever it is, you've got the good stuff in spades.I love that you've emphasized the solid relationship between these two, and that you've established that the games stay in the bedroom. In this kind of relationship, there have to be rules for me. After that ... let the games begin.I love that he gives her homework. Only she would like that! Of course, you can't go wrong with that kind of homework. She is never going to make it three days. If she does, she is amazing. I want to read more, but I suspect I ought to save it till the kids go to bed. Great chapter!
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Father Figure)
Thank you! I'm thrilled you're enjoying my 'smut', but I feel obligated to tell you I haven't even really started yet! LOL Yes, I think this type of relationship flourishes and is alluring when the foundation is love and trust. That's why I emphasise that so much. Whips and chains for whips and chains-sake isn't all that sexy to me. There has to be a spark of care and protection between the two lovers to make the spice all that more spicy. Any two strangers can get together and beat the crap out of one another. It takes two lovers to take one another to their limits and safely guide them that sliver beyond. As far as making it the three days, you know Hermione, She's the type of girl that really applies herself. And as stated, Severus knows her very, very well. I hope you'll continue to enjoy the story. I so look forward to you reviews and your insights.

Poor Mr. Orchid was so classically blindsided. But, it worked out for the best, and Severus didn't have to lose his temper. I prefer him sneaky to snarling, despite what his wife wants, LOL.Now come on, Severus, you just found out that your wife has been waiting a decade for this. You better make it good. As if he could do anything but. *drools on keyboard*I both love and hate your slow build up here. I love it because when they finally get down and dirty, it is so much more rewarding (for us and for them) if it has been awhile in the making. I hate it because, well, dammit, where is chapter six?!?! Your writing, no matter the content, or genre, or characters, always has me hanging on your every word.

Oh, thank you so much! I had such a fun time 'Slytherining' Severus up for his conversation with Orchid! ;) He's so fun when he's devious. I promise to update today - things are about to get pretty intense around here - as in 'is it warm in here or is it just me?' intense! LOL Thank you again for your lovely reviews. I absolutely live to see your name at the top of a comment.

After the previous night, his increased vocality seemed like an apology, a gift of sorts, and she felt herself relaxing.Yes, he has always seemed to me to have a better handle on showing than telling, and I think she just might be right about this intentions. The idea of the charmed mannequin is horrible, and I cannot blame Severus one bit for getting so angry. And about those Death Eater robes, the wheels are turning so loudly in Hermione's head, I can hear them all the way over here. ;)
Response from TeddyRadiator (Author of Father Figure)
I have always thought of Severus as being vocal, but you are right, he has always expressed himself better by his actions than his voice. I am an unabashed voice slut, though, so I had to make Hermione one as well. And his robes? Well, having never seen him in 'full livery' you can imagine what might happen when she does.

How very bold of Hermione to put her little secret out there, even though she did it as part of a game. It seems she'd been wanting to do it for awhile, but was afraid of his reaction, which was clearly a valid concern. At least they are talking about it (and hopefully, they really will continue tomorrow) because if not it will become the elephant in the room, and then they won't be able to have sex, wild or tame, without it hanging between them.I actually feel a bit bad for Severus because he has tried so hard to put all of the dark behaviors in the past, and she wants him to reopen wounds that are best left alone. She knows he won't hurt her, and I am sure deep down he knows he won't either, but his life would be much simpler if things could be black and white, instead of the grey area into which is attempting to lead him.

, thank you as always for your thoughtful reviews. Yes, it is tough to be a man like Severus, It's more about hurting his own fragile view of himself than Hermione.

Wow. This is wonderful. I almost don't want to review, because I want to see where you're going with this. You have so many promises in these first chapters. It seems like Hermione longs to enjoy her husband's full personality while he is afraid to that his warrior spirit will take him to an evil place and afraid of the intimacy of revealing himself to her. Lucius and Narcissa are delightful characters already. Can't wait to read more. (I am seriously restraining myself from going all-out literature geek on this one; that's how excited I am about this story.)

I can completely appreciate both the need for the war museum, and also Severus' hesitation. As for bad boy Severus, I kind of love when he and Hermione are on the same page but in different rooms. They'll figure it out soon enough, right? ;). About what I said before, it was out of line for me to try to restrict you from posting chapters. So, go on and post your little heart out. No, really, post away.

Thank you so much! I love what you said about them being on the same page but in different rooms - I LOVE that! I will definitely keep that in mind in future. What a perfect way to describe how I love to write them.

Would it be very bad to just say, "ditto to everything HBAR said?"Once I noticed you had posted this here, I read it immediately, and then I had to go to another site and reread the whole thing this evening. Ignoring the fact that my two year old rolled a whole roll of toilet paper all over my house. See what your lovely stories do to my concentration?Seriously, though. I love this story, and was really glad to see it here as well.

Okay, Teddy, I think you're taking this "post all my stuff to TPP" thing too far. See, I've got a lot of real life responsibilities, and I possess zero self- control. If you keep posting, I'll keep reading ... See how this works. It's a bad, bad habit. Hell, I even read this one during the exchange, but my old lady brain is in full swing and I don't remember exactly what happens, so here I am again. Plus, I'm sure I didn't give you any love over at LJ, so I'll right that wrong here and now. I like the idea of the Malfoys and the Snapes being friends. I think it would take a lot for Hermione to get past her Malfoy issues, but she is kind and forgiving by nature, so it certainly isn't out of the question. And game nights, you can't go wrong there. Well, define wrong, I guess ...

I'm very sorry to be leading you down the road to distraction! LOL In truth, the Games Night is one that the Hubs and I participate it with another couple, and we have been for two years now. My friend hecichera actually Sent us a real working copy of the board game 'What Say You?', complete with quills, questions, dice and ink. The four of us have played it and it is wonderful. Yes, I agree that there is a lot of history to overcome, but as you say, Hermione is a forgiving (and powerful) witch, and I think one of her greatest strengths is her caring nature. She would want Severus to be happy, and try to help his friends. I realise there is a huge camp that says Lucius is an unredeemable character, but I disagree. We don't know what we will do to protect our families until faced with that obstacle, and I think Lucius has great potential to be a force for good in the Wizarding world. And he would be a huge cheater! ;)

Oh dear Severtus just lived his worst nightmare, and so has Hermione.
