Retiring on medical grounds didn't make him feel any less redundant. He just hoped he’d be allowed to slink away unnoticed.

I like holding hands and long walks on the beach
I love attempting to write. One day, I plan to learn how to do it properly.
Reviews for Old-Aged Pariah
Reading this by chance after A.R.'s passing today. Perhaps it's the kind of moving on we would wish, for both the actor and the character. I really appreciated the internal musings and I think you got his voice just right.
Wonderfully done. I love how its Hermione to the scum in more ways than one. Very well done. And now he has something to look forward to in his retirement. It's also good for him to realize that his colleagues are more than that - they are his friends and family, too.
Very sweet! The story brought a smile to my face. I always thought Severus Snape was cheated out of surviving and an epilogue. This would have been perfect.

I like the thought of Snape having an epilogue of his own! Thank you so much.

Thank you for this lovely story of old friendships and new. I'm thoroughly convinced that there is a deepening relationshiop in Hermione and Severus' future. Perhaps it will begin with correspondence, and then an invitation to one of the school functions. Guest lectures even. Somehow I'm sure a mystery or conumdrum will present itself at some time, and Severus' experience could mean the difference between a good outcome or a bad one.Can you tell? I'm trying to lay a bit of groundwork for more chapters. And a HEA.I have been charmed by the way you wrote this "retirement party" for our Potions master, and the gentle and, dare I say loving, way the Charms mistress sought to make his life better. If you write it, I will read and review it. Promise.Beth

Ooh, I like the thought you've given this! I'm sure this could turn into a full romance (with HEA) in time, and although I don't have any plans for it at the moment, you've certainly given me plenty of ideas!x

This is so sad yet sweet. I hate to think of Severus being physically unable to teach, yet glad he's getting a retirement, and VERY glad he got a goodbye party, with Hermione to tell him things. I will hope that things with Hermione develop from friendship to romance, and that he will actually enjoy his life - with cake, of course, and good wine. Thank you for the story!!

Thank you!I wrote this story with the idea of a Snape who pigeon-holes himself as much as everyone else does, and wouldn't initially see just how much he has to offer outside of his role as a professor - until given a little gentle direction, of course. And yes, there will be lots of cake!

Oh.. I was near tears when I thought no one would say farewell. This was lovely... just lovely. Thank you.

This story started with the image of Snape leaving, alone and forgotten. It was so sad that I just had to find a way to make it right. I'm glad you liked the result!

What a beautiful beginning - for Severus, and dare I hope us with more story? Very well done!
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
Ooh, I would love for there to be more story . . . I just need to work out what happens next!
This was a lovely story. I loved the gentle tone and the beautiful way you captured Severus' emotions around his retirement. Severus and Hermione's conversation was very natural, and I appreciated the ending. Great work!
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
Thank you, ks! Although, I never would have thought of him retiring without hm's prompt!
I enjoyed this so much! It's perfect as it is, ending with that lovely hopeful close of the promise of correspondence; but I would be fibbing if I said I wouldn't like this to be chapter one of a beautiful SS/HG romance. I love the pacing, the gentle tone and the pure joy and optimism of this piece. I would also have enjoyed the custard creams as well as the chocolate biscuits :)
Response from hexgirl (Reviewer)
Forgot to add that I also laughed at the title: the idea of Severus ready for his bus pass (or should it be Knight Bus pass?) is very amusing - definitely more of the pariah than the pensioner.
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
You know, I would love this to be the start of a proper romance, but I just don't know what happens next.(I quite like custard creams, too, but it still annoys me when someone else eats all the choccie biccies!)
Lovely tone and pace in this! Really enjoyed reading it and in particular the gentle quietness that you evoked. Impressive? Intriguing? Inviting? Infatuating? Irresistable? Yes, absolutely!
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
Ooh, I think "inviting" is a nice one! Thank you very much!
As a reader who is currently resisting retirement (at a relatively young age, but with 35 years on the job) this was a truly bittersweet piece. Very well-written.
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
Thank you! I always feel that such a huge part of Snape's persona is that of a potions master, that he'd be a little lost without the job title.Good luck with which ever path you choose x
it started sad and ended with hope, very well written
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
I was aiming for hopeful! Thanks for the review :)
Lovely tender piece. Well done. :)

Thanks, Sunny! :)
Sadly hopefully beautiful. This is the sort of epilogue Severus should have gotten at the end of Hallows. Thank you for sharing. Lovely job.
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
Wow! Thank you so much! I completely agree, Severus deserves a happy ending :)
Oh, that's beyond sweet! Lovely!!

Ise be liken this. ^_^PS: Unfortunately, the only 'i' word in the thesaurus for attractive is 'interesting'. Not what you were looking for, I think. ^_~
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
I love that you looked it up! And, although I agree that Hermione could be very interesting, it's not very romantic, is it? :)
Response from MsTree (Reviewer)
Which is why I didn't think it was what you were looking for. *grin* I love my thesaurus, don't you? ^_^
Great story - very much appreciated

Thank you! I'm always a bit wary of writing Snape's pov, so . . . thank you!
I enjoyed this sweet and tender story very much! I'm so glad Hermione helped Severus to see that he is indeed loved. It looks like the beginning of a wonderful friendship between the two. Or maybe a romance?

I loved how his colleagues were distraught over what they perceived as a loss of Severus. I've always thought that once she realised where Snape's TRUE loyalties lay, she'd mentally berate herself for not believing in him. Just as Severus would say to her "but you HAD to or all would have been lost".
Response from marianne le fey (Author of Old-Aged Pariah)
I agree, I'm sure they would have been distraught. Still, knowing something had to happen doesn't always make it any easier. Thanks for your review!
