Great job turning what could have just been PWP to something a little more. I like that Snape is her sometimes source and that she knows he's passing info for Dumbledore, but doesn't seem to care. Perhaps she's not quite as selfish as she thinks she is?

Thanks for reading! I think even PWP's need some sort of character dimension. I wrote this fic for a fest, and my recipient had asked for "lots of old-fashioned smut." It was fun to try to do that and provide some characterization, too.~~Kelly

I didn't know anyone was into Rita/Severus. This was definitely my first read of them. It didn't strike me as appealing, really. I will say that I have no problem reading sex for the sake of sex, but what I really love is sex with substance. Because otherwise, you may as well be reading non HP fic if the characters don't really matter. I was absolutely delighted at the way you went about this. I can now totally see the mutual agreement between these two. They are both sneaky in their own ways, but they honor certain rules both in business and pleasure, and I totally got it. So, nice job wining me over. My first time was very satisfactory. In fact, I don't know if I'd ever read them again, because I don't see how it could be done any better.

So glad it worked for you! I confess, I had never thought of Rita and Severus as a pairing until I received my assignment for the Hoggywarty 2011 fest. Rita/Severus turned out to be the OTP of my recipient, and so I thought I'd give them a try. It was fun to try to find commonalities between them, because I'm like you: I want sex scenes to illuminate character and to be obviously character-specific. Otherwise, as you say, the participants could be anyone, just people who happen to have the same names as HP characters. I'm really glad you think I managed to characterize Rita and Severus well here. Thanks so much for reading and commenting.~~Kelly

Oh, had to read this again when it popped up here. This little collision of equals is so much fun to read.Your Rita is just too delicious for words (as Severus knows.)I love glimpsing Rita's assessment of her assests; it makes her demonstrably human.Severus is wonderful, as always: a decent fellow, but devious, and not above mixing dirty business with pleasure.

Thanks for reading again! (and for commenting) I enjoyed the chance to give Severus and Rita some (relatively) uncomplicated fun.
So I was sitting here, at my computer, contemplating how I would differentially describe the alumni of the four various Hogwarts houses, in my own personal yarn, when this story and Skeeter's assesment of how to shenagle folks from different houses arose in my wee, cluttered brain. And I was again struck by just how brilliant this tale is - well, of Skeeter's perception of people, and how you display that in the first half of the story.Aye, so I was just minding my own damn business... when BAM, your words hit me for the simplicity in their brilliance - and I had to commend you for it. *nods*Good job lassy!

Much as I dislike Skeeter, always have, and greedy sorts like her, this is a great piece - your portrayal of her is quite perfect and expands on her horrid character perfectly.I enjoyed the idea that Skeeter had that Dumbledore knew what she was up to, nearly all the time, and the respect she threw his way for being even better than she at getting information... *grins*. He can grill me anytime. Er... nevermind that...In addition, I thought your description of ploys she uses to get information out of people from the four various houses was genius - thought a bit painful - its hard to read and accept the truth about Gryffies - we are a bit proud and, overly noble to the point of arrogance at times, and its a drag having to face that head on - but you are correct none the less.A very creative and brilliantly written piece. Good job!OH! I almost forgot - the wee bit about McGonagall and Bones would make a certain friend of mine grin. *chuckles and winks at Squibby*

! I had a blast writing Rita. If you knew her in person, you'd want to kill her, of course. But in fic, she's outrageously fun.As for the Gryffs, I think the possibility of recklessness and/or arrogance is the danger that every great hero faces, going back to "The Odyssey" and elsewhere. But the good news is that those flaws can be kept in check, and the heroic bits can remain intact. Thanks for reading and commenting.~~Kelly(and yeah, I think Rita has more than met her match in Dumbledore /g/)
That's a refreshing change from usual. :)
