Years after the final battle against Voldemort, Hermione Granger and Severus Snape meet again—under circumstances neither of them could have imagined—to face the resurgence of an ancient evil that threatens to destroy their world. Sequel to "Caramel." Light crossover with Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials.

Oh, you just made my dreary January so much brighter with the start of the sequel!

Excellent!! *rubs hands and grins*
I had to go and skim through 'caramel' as I couldn't remember if i'd read it or not. I had. So, I'm pleased to see the sequel.

Excellent! Welcome back, gentle reader. :)
Just galloped, walked lingered and dashed through Caramel and a wonderful, sequel. more?Magnificent.update, Please?
All these years later I am still heartbroken that Hermione never got her memories back. I know that there at least is some hope for them here, with the coin reaching Severus, and I will just have to imagine what happened. Would be lovely to see it finished though, such a lovely story otherwise. Much love xx
Please tell me you’ll come back to this someday soon???

Please update!
I always suspected that the Weasley boys would be Mollycoddled. Which is okay if they land wives just like their mama, but that doens't seem to be the case.
It is interesting that she retains no memory of her time with her professor, but she still feels the pull to be with him, even if it is him lying silently in bed while she sits near and reads. I wonder if she will start to question the reason, or if she is just a decent person and will chalk it up to looking out for the underdog. At least we know he wakes up at some point. Unless the tropical climate is all in his head. Okay, lets deviate from that train of thought.
It was just that… now she knew that that didn’t only happen in books. Real people really had that. If she only knew what she can't remember. Hang on, Hermione, you'll get there. Her body remembers but her mind does not. :( Severus is going to have a lot of making up to do.
And Hermione's dad ... I hope he is okay. How very frightening.
Nice incorporation of Hermione's parents' storyline. It's good to see what happened to them, and their relationship with their daughter. Great work!
How intriguing that Severus dreams of Hermione's rejection. I'm wondering if I should reread Caramel before reading this! :)
And now, I wait...
on pins and needles
I'm kinda hoping she remembers by herself.
Then, again.
I'm a Pullman fa, so this is going to be fun!
Wonderful! Really a wonderful rendition of Hermione managing to save Severus. You have covered this part of the story beautifully and I can't wait to see where you take it from here to connect to the first chapter you gave us and beyond!
Oh how agonizing for Severus. So close but not close enough. And then to learn about Hermione's torture. Well at least it will be coming to a head soon. Bravo on another brilliant chapter.
Another brilliant chapter with a lot going on. Your writing just gets better and better. I enjoyed your bringing more details to light about Severus' exoneration of Dumbledore's death and his installation in the Headmaster's office. I also love your depiction of his behind the scenes help to the students. That Maurader's Map is coming in handy. Good thing he got that from Hermione!
A wonderful chapter. I'm glad to see that you are covering this part of their story, as I was curious of what would be happening to these two during this time. I can't wait to learn what the importance was of the items Snape took from his home, and the significance of the binding spell he used on the Carmel. I loved your portrayal of Voldemort and sympathisized with Severus and his mental torment at this time. I'm glad Hermione has Lupin's assistance and that they found the ingredients and information Severus obviously left for her benefit.
It is so exciting to see the Carmel sequel. I squealed for joy when I saw what this was. I've read The Dark Materials series and have mixed feelings about it, but it is brilliantly written. I'm also not much of a crossover fic fan, but I'm sure in your hands I'll be pleased. I'm eager to learn about this world Severus is inhabiting, as well as why he is there. I suppose I always imagined things would take off where they ended, but you are offering us an intriguing beginning.
Great chapter! The way Hermione found and helped heal Severus was very natural and believable. There were no crazy spells or declarations, and Hermione's reaction felt very in character. I eagerly await the next chapter, and the new AU twists and turns!
Such a tragic, but very well-written chapter. I liked the detail about Severus destroying the mirror. It really demonstrates how painful and dangerous his role is, especially now that "he’d tasted what it might feel like to really live, rather than just survive."
I don't think I was able to review the two previous chapters, but now that I am getting a chance to catch up on the story, I want to share how much I am enjoying it so far.
I appreciate seeing this part of the story from Severus' point of view, especially since we don't get to see what goes on in the castle in the book. It's quite a tightrope he is forced to walk, and the way you describe the careful decisions he makes while monitoring the students and staff illustrates this beautifully.
Great job, and I look forward to reading what happends next.
Amazingly weaved tale, as expected!
The previous chapter was certainly heart-wrenching, though this latest instalment, while infinitely more hopeful, still promises more heartache for our tortured professor.
While your Ron has proven himself to be unlike canon!Ron, I still feel sad that Severus will have to lose Hermione to him for a long while. Please let Severus have the happiness in life that he deserves, and soon!
More please, asap, thank you.
Love! Can't wait for our lovers to meet again!
Brava! Awaiting the next chapter anxiously, as always. :)
Onward and upward? :)
Great set-up chapter, but she seemed so distant towards him after all they shared! I don't understand how, why?

Her memories are really and truly deadened--the Obliviate really worked. Some hints drift up to her consciousness (dreams, her reaction when she sees him, feelings she has that are inexplicable and run counter to what she thinks she knows), but she is not at all aware of their connection and history. That'll change, but that's what it is right now. Thanks for reading!
Ooh, I love the blod-clotting spell! I can't wait until the next chapter!!!
