I'm a forty-something American woman who is addicted to the SSHG pairing, relatively new to this fandom. I'm also considering starting some original fiction soon...
Check out the story I co-wrote with Remarkable -- it's called "Hidden Attractions" and (as soon as it's through the queue) it's archived under the penname remarkable_linlawless.
For those who are interested, I've got two WIPs at my website (which I will eventually post here, but not until I have a complete draft). It's easy and free to join the website, so I hope you'll visit!
I am honored that my story, Witchy Woman, has been selected as a featured story for September 2010. Better yet, this honor came with the very awesome banner at the top of this post!
Here's a couple of banners my friend Atuliel made for the two WIPs at my website:
Reviews for To Cure a Curse
Why is it that as much happiness as I get from Hermione and Severus finding each other, the fact that it puts Ron's nose out of joint is just the slightly evil icing on the cake?
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehehehe, I think a lot of people feel that way. The funny thing is, I don't dislike Ron. I just don't like him paired with Hermione. Thanks for the review! :)

Oh, this is such an elegant and warm story to read! I enjoyed it so much, thanks for sharing it!
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the review! :)
This is a lovely ending to a lovely story. I enjoyed this very much!
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! :D
Severus is already unintentionally using endearments ... he is a lost cause. Somehow, I don't suspect she will be too upset about it either. I certainly hope that their time at Malfoy Manor proves productive. Severus doesn't seem to like being there a whole lot more than Hermione does. I still wanted something to happen so he would have to swoop in and save her. Maybe at lunch ...
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehehe ... he doesn't know it, yet, of course (denial being what it is ...). We'll see if he has to swoop in and save her at some point. Thanks for reviewing! :)
A three story private library? It's a wet dream come true for Hermione! Excellent chapter. Can't wait for the next one. *looks at watch - checks website - taps foot impatiently* Well?
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
LOL, that *does* sound like Hermione's idea of of Nirvana ... Glad you're enjoying it! Next chapter is up! :) Thanks for reviewing!
I'm enjoying this very much. Looking forward to Severus and Hermione's visit to Malfoy manor.
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far! :)
Ha ha, Muggle stunt men. Love it. And Hermione's ability to make everyone feel sheepish... divine!
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehehe, glad you like! Thanks for reviewing! :)
Ron still sounds like a two-year old compared to Severus' maturity! I thought it was funny he didn't get the joke about the library.
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehehe, well, I always saw Ron as an overgrown kid at heart -- with both the good and bad aspects of that. Severus reverts to immaturity when he feels threatened emotionally, IMO, but the rest of the time, he's a grown-up. Poor Ron -- he doesn't pick up on subtlety much ... Thanks for reviewing! :)
I am enjoying this story very much. Keep up the good and entertaining work!
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)

Apparently, he had hidden depths – so well hidden that hardly anyone seemed aware of them.I hope Severus and Hermione will both become more aware of each other's hidden depths before all is said and done. Might there be a book in Malfoy Manor's library with a particularly nasty Anti-Muggle spell on it? One that will require Severus coming to her rescue? I don't want her to get hurt, mind you. I just want them to get together. *grins*Beth
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hahahaha, you're full of sneaky ideas (have you been hanging around sneaky!Dumbledore?) Anyway, hopefully they'll be getting to know one another better in many ways ... ;) Thanks for reviewing! :)
A Muggle film stuntman staging Dumbledore's fall--now that is a unique explanation I have never seen used in fanfic before to explain his survival! Bravo! I'm looking forward to the character development sure to take place when Hermione and Severus travel to Malfoy Manor together next chapter, so we can see more of those hidden depths that Hermione is beginning to discover...
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Oh, yay! I wanted to do something unique, so I'm glad it's not in all the other fanfics that I haven't gotten around to reading yet. :) Hope you'll continue to enjoy, and thanks for reviewing! :)
Yep, those depths are pretty deep.
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehe true. He's probably horrified that they even exist! ;) Thanks for reviewing!
Apparently, he had hidden depths – so well hidden that hardly anyone seemed aware of them.Yes, that pretty well sums it all up. I love the image in my head of Severus and Hermione spending a day together at the spa. Good thing it is a Muggle place, as noone in the wizarding world would believe it.I find myself almost wanting something bad to happen at Malfoy Manor, just so he can protect her. Come on, you know you want to ;)
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
LOL! Maybe I do want to ... or maybe I don't! ;) Keep reading! :D Thanks for reviewing!
And she plans to dive into those hidden depths, doesn't she? Careful, Hermione, there could be rocks hidden under there. ^_^
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
LOL, so true. Her curiosity always did get her into trouble, didn't it? ;) Thanks for reviewing! :)
I'm not sure what Severus meant when he noticed Hermione "coming into her own magic". Was there something about the timing of when he said it - could she not have gotten into the Extra-Restricted section if she wasn't a fully-matured witch -- and he was suprised that she could get in there at such a relatively young age?
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Well, the Extra-Restricted section isn't visible to anyone who isn't both powerful and controlled, so I think the implication in Severus's thoughts is that younger witches and wizards (even adults) usually lack either the necessary power or control or both. Anyway, thanks for reviewing! :)
So it makes me wonder, Dumbledore wasn't hit with the full effect of the "curse" if he was beginning to apparate away when he was hit with the blue light. I wonder what would have happened if he hadn't apparated away so quickly?
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
A very interesting question, and one that will be partially addressed in the near future. Thanks for reviewing! :D
Severus and Hermione really do make a good team. It is just as well that Harry and Ron's expertise lies in a different area so these two can have some alone time. For research purposes, of course ;)I love the spell to trace the people from the memory, and also that there is an extra restricted section. Hermione must have been drooling over it.Malfoy Manor ought to be interesting. Especially with Severus' new knowledge of Hermione's past. She may need to stay very close to him to feel safe :)
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehehehe, yes, it would be torture for all concerned if Harry and Ron were forced to work in the library, especially with Severus present! Glad you enjoyed the spell and the Extra Restricted section -- they seemed like the sort of things that might exist in that world. :) Hopefully we'll see progress (in more ways than one) at Malfoy Manor. Thanks for reviewing! :)
Distraction by Quidditch and food ... Hermione certainly hasn't lost her touch where the boys are concerned.I love that Severus knew the woman from the gentleman's club, and then had to scramble for an excuse. I think he forgot his audience :)Apparently Dumbledore's curse is worse than I thought. This would be a lot easier if there weren't a thousand people out in the streets at the time. It could have been any one of them. We shall see what happens.
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Yes, Hermione knows her boys, doesn't she? And apparently, she can induce guilt in Severus, too! :) The scene in Hogsmeade was a real challenge to write -- I wanted to plant clues, but still make sure they had some work to do to figure everything out. :D Thanks for reviewing!
I have a feeling we are in for some fun. I do feel for Severus having to deal with this group once again, but at least it seems he has an ally in Hermione. Dumbledore without his twinkle? Call the authorities, quick! Wouldn't they have a fit if there was no curse, but just an elaborate plan just to get them together. LOL? I hope he isn't in too bad of shape before they find something to help him. Off to find out ...
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Yes, Severus must feel the gods are conspiring against him yet again, don't you think? The idea of Dumbledore's twinkle going missing was part of the inspiration for the story, so I'm glad you're enjoying that. It *would* be hilarious if this was one of his plots ... but you'll have to wait and see! ;)
OMG! He didn't know about Bella's torture of Hermione at Malfoy Manor... this is a surprise. I love when they work together to solve a mystery, and this trip to the Malfoy library promises more revelations to come! Well done.Beth
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Thanks! So glad you're enjoying it! (And I'm glad I surprised you, too!). Thanks for reviewing! :)
I'm loving this, Linda. They seem to be working together well.I feel a hug coming on after this new revelation. And the blood sugar comment; I had to laugh. You didn't talk to my spouse, did you? Something about my personality B.
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehehe -- I'm glad you're still enjoying it. The blood sugar comment is actually loosely based on something a male friend of mine once said about his girlfriend ("I've learned that when she says she's hungry, that's a drop-everything emergency"), and which I know firsthand to be true of myself and of many women I know. Glad it rang true for you, too! :)
More? I agree that Severus probably had no idea what happened at Malfoy Manor. I did love that drawing charm. They really should draw everyone they see.
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Oh, I'm glad you agree that he probably didn't know, and that you liked the charm. That would be fun if they started drawing everyone they know! And ... OMG, an idea for a PWP just hijacked my brain! Ack! ;)
I thought everyone knew! Is this incarnation of Lucius going to be canon, non-canon, or something in between? It should be interesting to find out, shouldn't it? ^_^
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Hehehe, well, I don't think canon is entirely clear about who knows what -- we only know for sure what Harry knows, and what he hears other people say that tells us what they know (or what Harry believes they know, anyway). So I figured I had wiggle room -- especially since Snape's not exactly anyone's idea of a gossip buddy. ;) Anyway, I think Lucius approaches early canon Lucius in this one ... maybe. :D
I'm just wondering what Severus and Unspeakable Hermione could get up to togather in the extra-restricted section of the library
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
LOL, I may have to do a one-shot at some point exploring that very question! I'm sure it would be lots and lots of fun! ;)
Cool chapter. Love the new spell and very creative developments.
Response from linlawless (Author of To Cure a Curse)
Thank you! So glad you're enjoying it! I appreciate the review! :D
