Severus celebrates Remembrance Day in communion with others through a particularly poignant hymn.
The song is What Shall We Pray by Carnwadric Parish Church and John L Bell (as nearly as I can determine.)
This story represents my beliefs in a diverse community, and I want to be clear that I also support your beliefs for they are also meaningful. This is simply one instance of meaning for me.

Such a profound commentary on war, Janus. I like your little glimpses of Severus's past, and how true you are to his life and times. And I do see Severus with at least some small knowledge of the Christian church, having grown up in a working class neighbourhood in the sixties, and having attended the local school there. It all fits together, and then you polish these little scenarios until they shine, and I love reading them.
Janus, this is an amazing and beautiful piece! The day, and the hymn, seen through Severus' eyes, is incredibly poignant. Especially the verse that fit him so well: "Could they somehow tell the words were for him?"
But the the story transcends Severus, and Death Eaters, and even the Muggles surrounding him. You picked such an appropriate hymn - its words, and Severus' musings on them, are really timeless.
Thanks so much - this was a wonderful read. :)
This is so magnificent, quiet and deep and powerful. Thank you for this point of view! Thank you for writing!
What a beautiful and inspiring story. I feel humbled, and reading this story is as profound as a prayer. Thank you. God bless you.

that was a beautiful piece. thank you for sharing it
I think you've really entered into what his thoughts might have been about his various friends. I think he must have come to a point in his life when he thought more about the ones who were gone more than the people who were around him.
i got choked up reading this. no one remembers the losers in a war, which sucks, b/c they all had families too. well done!
