Severus, surprisingly, assisted Lockhart at the Duelling Club. This is the story why.

I like to read, and I have this compulsion to write.
And the lovely banner above was made by Talesofsnape, a friend of mine.
Reviews for The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion
clap clap clap clap clap this was just brilliant! I adore the behind the scenes look. It does my heart good to see the staff being kind nay friendly with eachother. I do hope Minerva and Poppy get even for his comments. Revenge is a dish best served chilly.
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
I have always thought that the staff liked eachother and worked well together. And I think Pomona and Minerva liked Severus as their enforcer, letting him do the honors, so to speak.I'm so glad you liked it and thank you for telling me.
Marvelous! I love being a fly on the wall in the teacher's lounge. I've never pondered the relationship Snape might have with Flitwick, but this warms the cockles of my evil little heart. Filius would definitely want to give Severus a chance to return Lockhart's slight. Who better to avenge them all?! Snape would have had such a different life if he had been sorted into Flitwick's subtle care!
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
I think Flitwick is the Head of House with the most reason to resent the Sorting Hat. It seems to me like intelligence ranks lower than the other personality traits the founders favoured. Poor Flitwick seems to lose all the interesting ones, except Luna of course. He must have been so annoyed when he discovered Snapes intelligence and realised that he had been sorted into Slytherin (burn Sorting Hat, burn). For some reason I always imagined that Flitwick liked Severus and that Minerva's and his rather vicious attack on Severus was a result of his disappointment in Severus. And Snape would have been better off. I even think he would have been better off sorted into Gryffindor. But Flitwick would have been so good for him.
What a fun glimpse into the teacher's lounge at Hogwarts! I really enjoyed reading this from Filius's point of view.I loved how you threw bits of arcane knowledge into Filius's train of thought. Those would be the kind of references that would occur to the head of Ravenclaw spontaneously. :)
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Thank you! I like Flitwick so much and he practically wrote himself. He is so clear in my mind in some ways ... strange how some characters just do that.
Filius! So sneaky. I love it!
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Thank you. And he is. So much hidden depth, I think. I just adored how he handled Umbridge in OotP."... I didn't know if I had the authority!" I just might have to write another story with him ...

Yes-more stories!
How fun!
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
I'm glad you think so!Thanks for reading and reviewing.
That was nice! It was a really interesting place to fill in some canon, and the Flitwick POV is intriguing and well done. :D
It was weird reading Lockhart as a Hufflepuff rather than a Ravenclaw though. :P
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Thank you! I've thought about this ever since I read the second book. I loved the duelling scene and felt that Snape was carrying a grudge towards Lockhart of a personal kind. I looked in the books and couldn't find any reference to what house he once belonged to, but as I needed that info I had to place him. When I remembered that smarmy Hufflepuff, Zacharias Smith, who kind of remind me of Lockhart, it was settled. Thank you so much for the lovely review.
Response from Fubsadoo (Reviewer)
I think Jo said in interview somewhere that he's Ravenclaw, but it's not canon or anything, and he's hardly the most Clawish Claw, so yeah, your Sorting makes complete sense and works. :P
Thank you for this very clever addition to canon. I love the understanding between all the faculty (except Lockhart). With very little communication, it has been arranged for Lockhart to have his arse handed to him in a blast of magic from Severus' wand.Woo hoo!
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Thank you so much for the lovely review. I adore the Hogwarts' staff and their excentricities and I aimed to get that understanding between them to show. And oh, yes. They all wanted Lockhart well and truly whipped, but it was only fair that Severus was the one who got to do it ...
You can write another chapter to this story. I'd like to read, how Severus plotted his revenge on Lockhart.
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Ah, and I am partial to open endings ... I might do I Snape POV in a Lockhart story though, at some point.Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.
Love this from Filius' point of view, and the respective understanding between him and Severs! Also, all of the professor's being depicted (with Dumbledore buried in The Quibbler - HA!) A little bit of Lockhart goes a long way- I've always loathed him, so thank you for this story 'behind the scenes' - love that he'll be getting what he deserves soon from Severus, as well as from Filius. Thanks for sharing this!
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
The Quibbler is the only good source of information after all.I like Filius. I think there are so much to him that we never got to see. Pomona is also one of those characters I love.Thank you for reading and reviewing.
Very much enjoyed the implied friendship between Severus and Filius as well. I always had a suspicion there might be a mutual respect and restrained cordiality there. I always love these little hidden scenes - they enrich canon so much !
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Thank you dear! I'm such a big fan of cannon (the books), that I can't bring myself to go completely against them, so I try to fit my stories around it and in it. I'm glad you appriciate the effort.
Love it!I had occasion to hear a presentation on traditional Sami 'joiking' - storytelling cum songmaking - while in graduate school. It was just fascinating. It's great to 'meet' them again here!
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Thank you, I'm so happy to hear that.Oh, and the Sami culture gets far to little attention, and since I always viewed them as a little bit more magical than most, I thought they would fit in nicely.
This was quite funny, and I loved it being told through Filius! Thanks for sharing!!
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
I'm glad you liked the Filius POV and that you found the story amusing.Thank you so much for reading and reviewing.
And we all know how Severus showed up that peacock by knocking him on his arse. Lockart always was full of himself lolIf there had been bets I would have put mine on Severus *grins*
Response from Pyttan (Author of The Filius Files, part 2: Duelling Champion)
Oh, yes indeed. *Me cheering for Sev* Gooooooooooo, Sevvie!Thank you for reading and reviewing.
