In Search of a Life, which is told from Snape’s POV, is a sequel to In Search of a Wand. I strongly advise you to read that story first, or this one will leave you completely lost.

Reviews for In Search of a Life
I wanted to go to bed early today but have to wait up until my daughter is safely back ... but your wonderful story sweetens definitely the wait. Thank you!

Yes! Leave it to Hermione. And I am sure that you´ll put a house into the story that throws them together a lot...

Maybe? They already work together all day long. Too much togetherness can sour a relationship.

I am so glad you are writing a sequel to In Search of a Wand! I grew very fond of your Grangers and even little Andrew, and I hope to see more of them in this story. Like mollyssister said in her review on the Exchange, I too hope to see what happened to Ron, what Kreacher did with the Black family "enemies," and Hermione's career -- and what sort of house Severus and Hermione have. I wonder what Lucius will do with all of Spinner's End; my personal vision of it is to build a new Muggle-magical community, where wizards and witches can live with their Muggle relations so that little Andrew can live near his grandparents. I really like your Lucius also, to be so grateful to Severus that he could quietly buy up the neighborhood. Hmm, perhaps Hermione and the Malfoys might even share a meal together in harmony?Thank you for the story, and I do hope you write a new chapter soon!

Very lovely POV from Severus. Hopefully you will continue this story to its desired conclusion. Thank you very much.
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
Hhm, and now you have me wondering what desired conclustion you're actually talking about. I have several different "outcomes" in mind and to be honest, until I get to the end - there is no pre-determined ending. ;)
A very promising beginning for what we hope wil be a little family someday. Another intriguing tale you brings us.

Is this story abandoned?
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
No, it's not. The next chapter is in the que and has been for over a week. I guess they're very busy right now.
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
As of today, it's been three weeks since I submitted the next chapter, so don't give up hope yet. ;)

When written correctly, I find Lucius so very entertaining. Thanks for making him such a fun part of your tale.A food fight! So funny.I just hope Lucius doesn't turn against Severus if he falls in love with Hermione.

LOL Thank you, Claypotter. ;)
I'm really enjoying this so far. The interaction between Lucius and Severus was priceless.

Food fights? At their age? ROFL :)
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
Well, I was trying to find a non-sappy way of ending the chapter and I decided that Severus and Lucius MUST have had some carefree, food-fight days at Hogwarts. What teen doesn't? And if goaded enough, Severus at least would retaliate in a non-lethal manner. especially if they were alone. ;)
I wish you'd continue this story because it's very intriguing. Maybe there's still a chance between Hermione and Severus...:)It's a very good story. Thank you.
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
The story isn't over yet, honest! LOL! ;)
Thank you for the update! I love the turning point and Severus' realisation that Hermione is a woman with needs and wants that he may not be a part of (if he doesn't take action). He's taken her for granted for the past nine years, and now he's getting a much needed kick up the backside.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Oh, good lord, the UST has been building for NINE YEARS?! And now, is Hermione going to be the opposite of the kiss of death, where dating her (or trying to date her) means your career suddenly takes a bounce up - and out of the country? :DSeverus had better find a way of keeping Hermione at his side!
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
No, no UST. Honest. They were extremely busy raising Andrew, Hermione finding her calling, etc. I just didn't wish to inflict that part of the story on my readers, since it would have been, well, boring if you know what I mean.

Arg! Lucius is one of those "friends" whose good points and bad points are so finely balanced that you're always trying to figure out which outweighs the other. But sometimes his meddling - for it seems meddling is one thing he cannot resist - does have good consequences. Hmmm... I wonder if they're ever actually going to live in more than one of the flats? :)
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
Hee! I love to write a meddling Lucius. He's so good at it. ;)

Ah yes, we get a glimpse of the good ship HG/SS (Hermione Granger/SpreadSheets), LOLOL!And Ester - this explains why she's been hateful to Hermione from the start. Pretty different from the sweets-baking Gertrude. Severus is a pretty shrewd guy, but he's always so critical of himself, and the idea of him being attractive to anyone... figures he'd be oblivious to Ester's feelings toward him.
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
I've always figured that Severus had a stunted life as a teenager and then again as a young man, who never had the chance (or the nerve) to flirt, etc with girls or women of his own age, so, I figure he's pretty dense in that area.

Bless Lucius and his Butter Brickle heart! I wondered why the other houses had all gone empty after the Dark Lord's defeat! Nice comparison to have the two fathers wanting to do things because of or for their sons.

Parents do amazing (and sometimes really stupid!) things for their children. ;)

Oooh, this is in Severus' point of view - nice! Harry as the son Severus and Lily never had... I've read people sort of exploring this before, but never have his feelings been presented this well. There's resentment, and longing, and grief, too, I think. But how lovely that those all melt away now that there's Andrew. *hugs Severus*
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
Aw, thanks. I try to put myself in my character's shoes, and it just seemed to me that with the dark hair and the green eyes, Harry could very easily have reseembled a child of Severus and Lily and it HAD to bother him if-as JKR maintains-he was in love with her.

I know I already read this (and commented, I'm pretty sure) elsewhere, but it's just as fabulous on second reading. Love it! :D
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
Well, thank you for commenting again. (especially the bit about it being fabulous) I appreciate them all. ;)
I like this one a bit more than the prequel, as it's interesting to see Snape's point of view. Now what happens next?? :)
Response from devsgma (Author of In Search of a Life)
I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I must have missed the notification. I'm a bit more comfortable with Snape's POV, so I have to admit this story is one that I've enjoyed writing more than the prequel. Fitting all the pieces of the story into canon was fun though! ;)
This was a great way to start the new year!
